The religious and political arms of Russia are working together because both are 'imperialist'. The Russian Orthodox Church is very aggressive and this shows itself in various ways. The Patriarch of the ROC, and many of its members, wants their Church to be the undisputed leader of all the Orthodox Churches, they have been trying to subvert the authority of the currently acknowledged leader, the Ecumenical Patriarch based in Istanbul, and have been aggressive towards the OC in Ukraine denying its independence and also to that in Estonia. Putin and Kirill go hand in hand towards undisputed dictatorship in their chosen areas (however far that extends). Both Putin and his thugs and Kirill and his are suspected of massive corruption and reports of ROC hierarchs driving expensive cars and wearing expensive watches are now too common to be denied. Russia is rotten in all its aspects.

I am certainly no geo-political strategist...but can someone tell me why it would be so bad to let the people of eastern Ukraine people (who are reportedly majority pro Russian) decide who they want to fall under. Why not just ask them to vote (Cities and Provinces) and then let the vote go to the majority. This could all be done fairly and peaceably. Ukraine would win by averting war and having a country in hand. Russia would win by averting war and gaining new cities and provinces. Ukraine could even probably barter a 20-30 year contract on natural gas from Russia at discounted rates if they played there cards right. Anyways...what ever happens in Ukraine isn't going to help what's going on here. Just another far far away problem that the media wants to make mine. Conflicts are going on all the time in the world...just why is it the ,bought and paid for media, wants this conflict to be mine? The media is controlled...why push this story as if we have no other choice but war?
Your post contains a lot of common sense but unfortunately this virtue is not that common in the world in which we live. The problems in the world run deep economic, social, demographic, strategic, political pressures are all at work and it is a tangled web. Where I disagree is your statement is that I don't believe that this crisis is a far away problem that will not impact our lives. Even a regional conflict in Europe will impact severely upon us as everything is so interconnected today from financial markets, food distribution, mobile communications and so on.
The Russians in the East were 'planted' in Stalin's day to replace the millions of Ukrainians he starved to death as a buffer of 'reliable' Russians. The country is not theirs and never was except by theft.

I don't think he was talking about the chastisements that come after the great miracle at Garabanal. I think he is referring to great tribulation we have now entered into, which goes till the great Warning.
