This movie mentions Saint Stanislaus Papczyńksi I happened to get the app from the MIC, Marians of the Immaculate Conception on Saint Stanislaus Papzcynski. Mary App | Marians of the Immaculate Conception And they have some others, the Divine Mercy too. That one has a nice meditation on the Stations of the Cross. But this Saint Stanislaus, what they claim about him and his life as this movie shows stunned me somewhat. By the way, the founder of this order and the movie seems to have some connections to the MIC. They have quite a bit on youtube, mostly under Divine Mercy, daily Mass and so on, out of Stockbridge Mass. See, in about 1940, St. Faustina's diary was smuggled out of Poland, east to Russia, Siberia, Vladivostok and through Japan. It had quite an adventurous journey actually. Real good stuff in this movie, Forgive, etc. etc.
It reminds me of Our Lady of Fatima, when the young angel of Peace encouraged the children to pray for those who do not pray..and the Fatima prayer given by Our Lady herself. 'Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins! Save us from the Fires of Hell ! Save all souls from hell , especially those who need this the most!' I am afraid we have an entire planet not praying at the moment.
I am so sorry that the Polish mystics are not better know in the West. What a great treasure we are all of us missing!
St. Catherine of Genoa maintained that the sufferings of purgatory, though different in nature from those of hell, are no less severe — but also that those in purgatory experience joys and peace beyond anything on earth. “Immense joy and great suffering” is how a French priest interviewed for Purgatory, from the Polish Catholic documentarian Michal Kondrat, describes the state of the holy souls undergoing purification. There are other helpful perspectives sprinkled through the film, mostly in similar talking-head interview footage featuring Polish, Italian, or French priests. These are overshadowed, though, by the filmmaker’s decision to structure the film around the visionary writings of a 20th-century Ukrainian mystic named Stefania Fulla Horak, some of whose ideas, as presented here, come across as bizarre, appalling, and cruel. - How do you make a documentary about purgatory? Not like this. - Decent Films I thought some of this was important to mention in regards to this film. Believing in hell, purgatory and so on, maybe heaven too, at least, for me, has been a difficult subject to wrestle with and to be frank, just for me, being a skeptic, to sometimes believe in.
We travel with the eyes of Faith. Without prayer the light of the candle of Faith gutters and goes out and as it does so we see the World and the things of Heaven with the eyes of this World. This is what is happening at the moment in the Church. Our Cardinals and Bishops and even our Holy Father the Pope. The candle of Faith is winking out and they see all around them with the eyes of this World rather than with the eyes of Heaven. The Mystical Flames within are winking out.
I try to remember in the evening to try to pray for all those who died today and all those who were born today to remember the cycle of life and the souls in Purgatory. Side note: Our Parish is doing a brick fundraiser to help raise $ and put some new paths in our outdoor prayer garden. I put down my name and my wife & daughter's name with "Pray for Us" on the brick... We're hopeful for the random prayers after we're dead and gone
Thank you, you reminded me to pray for the Holy Souls this morning. Often when I see donors names in Churches and see requests for prayers on places like stained glass windows I pray for their souls. But I am a little jealous..a century and more later and their souls are still getting prayed for. So jealous.
A plenary (absolute) indulgence was granted in November for those praying at a cemetery for the souls in purgatory but.... there is still a partial indulgence apparently, for praying there at other times of the year. A partial indulgence, applicable only to the souls in purgatory, is granted to the faithful who, -devoutly visit a cemetery and at least mentally pray for the dead; ... Plenary Indulgence for Cemetery Visits in November Extended - Sober Catholic A partial indulgence can be obtained by devoutly visiting a cemetery and praying for the departed, even if the prayer is only mental. Plenary Indulgences: Nov 1-8 | Help The Holy Souls (wordpress.com) Yes, in 2021, the Plenary Indulgence was extended to the full month of November but I find some do not seem to be aware of the "partial indulgence" that seems available throughout the year.
