Verne has been to Confession. Members of the forum have made it clear that they think Verne should follow the guidelines for getting Church approval. Verne has explained his actions. If people don’t agree, leave the messages alone. The case has been made and the inquisitors have no further right to continue, imho. I wasn’t going to add my 2 cents, but I believe this should respectfully stop now.
I probably won’t respond since I have no desire to defend my position. It stands.

I find it amusing you are asking so many questions. I belong to the Tuscon resistance and a friend of mine suggested to bring it to the the attention of Church Militant.

I agree, HH. If the story is accurate, the pastor was causing grave scandal by his practices. However, why go to Church Militant rather than send a letter with documents and even a notarized statement, to the pastor, the bishop and the papal nuncio?

I have also gone through an issue with a local parish, which required a great deal of time, effort, anxiety, and paperwork. It went up to the cardinal of the archdiocese. It was successfully resolved because a friend and I had done our research thoroughly. Going into a situation, confronting the secretary, making a dramatic statement, would not have had a good outcome, I think, and was later told by a friend in the chancery.

It seems to me you don't attempt to work according to the Church's rules, Verne, and that makes me uneasy in itself.

How did the situation resolve? Did you get an appointment to see the bishop and make your case?

Guess what, the Bishop of Tucson, The Reverend Kicanas received a letter from me and he stopped there practice . Thank you. I live in the Diocese of Tuscon, AZ, by the way.

Glad to hear it, Verne. I thought you lived in Yuma, which is way down by the border. I understand things are farther apart out west, but you can't drive that far in any direction and stay in my state.

Edited to add: The story just struck me as odd as it wasn't your parish and wasn't even your city. I still wonder if this was "inspired" by the Holy Spirit, Who you said inspired you to pray with particular people.

Actually I live in Yuma. Our diocese is one of the largest in the US. I usually drive 1-2 thousand miles per month.

Perhaps it hasn't changed minds, but the discussion has provided information that actually is useful in figuring out what the messages mean and how to assess them. Questions by themselves are not bad or necessarily attacks.

Thanks and no harm done. We must be diligent because we live in times of great deception. If anything goes against the deposit of faith, it must be rejected. God bless and thanks for all the discussion.

Yes, the discussion unveiled a lot of additional and useful information for those discerning.

Didn’t see many attacks to be honest, but I know some may perceive questions that have to do with the background of a messenger to be so.

I also appreciate you John and your efforts here.

    Verne,

I believe you said that you sometimes used blessed oil when you are praying with people. I take that to mean you anoint the person you are praying with? May I ask the source of the oil and the kind of oil. Do you have a set of prayers you use during/after the anointing? Do you anoint forehead, hands...? I remember you said you do not do any laying on of hands, but I assume you have physical contact with the person you are praying with during the anointing.

    I'd appreciate any clarification.

You think maybe Verne knows he has no authority to annoint anyone? This is absurd.

    Don,

I went back and finally found Verne's remark. Apparently he offers blessed oil to others to use themselves during his prayer sessions. So, that is the process, which I misunderstood.

However, I'm still interested in the hows and whys of blessed oil used by laymen. It's not the kind of thing I've ever seen or heard about around my parish.

I do not anoint a person, that is for the clergy, in my opinion. I just hand the oil to the person and the person anoints themself. I received some oil from St Philomena's church in Italy. I have also used the oil from Our Lady of Grace from WI. Usually, I use simple prayers. I have a devotion to our lady of the miraculous medal. I have been able to visit her church, in Paris 6 times. The person presents their request and we pray 1 Hail Mary for her intercession with her son. Then we also pray to Jesus asking for his healing on the situation. I have learned several things praying with people. First, a specific request needs to be asked. People asked Jesus for a specific healinge: the blind man asked to be able to see. Second, the Virgin Mary told St Catherine Laboure there were many graces waiting for mankind, but no one asks for them. Third, it is important for the person to ask also, if they can. I have found the majority of people who I have prayed with, do not know how to pray. So I pray and the person repeats after me. If interested, there are strategies for deliverance praying. If you want, I can share those with you also. God bless you,

    Verne

You can have your priest bless oil for you. One example is that parents should bless their children daily. A person can also bless themselves with oil. Our churches routinely bless oil for lay people to use. Here is another example: last 10/19, my mom was dying. She had very little brain function left. She did not know myself or my 13 year old. He suggested we bless my mother with St Philomena’s oil. We both did and she woke up and knew who we were. My family is not Catholic. I asked my mom, if she would like to repent of her sins. She said, Yes. She repeated after me, Lord be merciful to me a sinner and and other prayer. She sang, Amazing grace. After, that incident, she was never coherent another day. She died several days later. This was the exception to me blessing other people. She was my mom. I asked our parish priest and he said under the circumstances, what we did was OK. God does work in amazing ways.

Oh Verne so happy to have you commenting here. It’s been awhile since I’ve commented. Please please pray for my eldest daughter Sisi. She is so lost. Please ask God to bring her back to the Church. God bless you. And my love to Fatima.
