    http://aleteia.org/2015/03/21/st-ge...es-in-the-presence-of-pope-francis-in-naples/

Editor’s note: On this feast day of St. Januarius, a look back on something that has not happened in the presence of a pope since Pius IX.

The blood relic of St. Gennaro, patron saint of Naples, today miraculously liquefied in the presence of Pope Francis, the first time the miracle has occured in the presence of a pontiff since 1848.

“His blood has half-liquefied,” the Archbishop of Naples, Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, said at the conclusion of Pope Francis’ address to diocesan priests and religious in the city’s cathedral. “It’s a sign that St. Gennaro loves the Pope, who is Neapolitan like us.”

Pope Francis immediately and lightheartedly replied: “The archbishop said the blood is half-liquefied. It means the saint loves us halfway. We all have to convert a little more so that he loves us more.”

Today’s wondrous occurance knows just one precedent. It is the first time St. Gennaro’s blood relic has liquefied in the presence of a pontiff since the miracle occurred in the presence of Pope Pius IX in 1848.

Pius IX was the longest-reigning elected pope in the history of the Catholic Church (31 years). He convened the First Vatican Council, which decreed papal infallibility; defined the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, meaning that Mary was conceived without original sin; and he was the last Pope to rule as the sovereign of the papal states which fell to the Italian army in 1870.

Fleeing the Mazzini riots in 1848, Pope Pius IX was rescued by a ship sent by Francis II of Bourbon, who took him to the Royal Palace of Portici. The Pope expressed his desire to go to the Cathedral of Naples. There the miracle of St. Gennaro occurred in his presence.

As a token of his gratitude, the pontiff donated a golden chalice to the cathedral in the saint’s honor. The chalice is today numbered among the “Ten Wonders of the Treasure of St. Gennaro.”

As Cardinal Sepe today announced the miracle, in the adjacent streets people could be heard shouting with neapolitan passion: “It’s a miracle, it’s a miracle!”

In fact, the mysterious liquefying of the blood relic has rarely occurred outside the “canonical” date. The dried blood of St. Gennaro, which is preserved in two glass phials in the Naples Cathedral, traditionally liquefies three times a year: on the saint’s September 19 feast, which commemorates his martyrdom in the Catholic liturgical calendar; December 16, the date of the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 1631, which was believed to have been halted through the saint’s intervention; and the Saturday before the first Sunday in May.

St. Gennaro was bishop of Naples and is a saint and martyr of the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches. Historical sources claim he was martyred in the year 305 during the Diocletian persecution.

According to legend, St. Gennaro’s blood was saved by a woman called Eusebia just after his death. The practice of gathering blood for relics was a common practice beginning in the days of persecution when the early Christians soaked cloths in the blood shed by martyrs or, if possible, actually collected the liquid in flasks to keep as devotional items. In the catacombs these flasks were buried with the dead. Their discovery indicated that the person had died a martyr.

After his meeting with priests and consecrated religious in the Naples cathedral, Pope Francis will greet the sick in the Basilica of Gesù, followed by a meeting with young people on the Caracciolo sea-front.

I could just see Brian and his entourage of backers in Christ's time saying, "look at this man, he is in bed with prostitutes, tax collectors, reprobate sinners" and if they had had modern means of communication and graphics back then they would have it all over the internet. They man (Jesus) they claim to serve did the same things as Pope Francis, so how does that fair out?

Our Lady's Living Room has turned into the Modern Day Pharisees Forum, where now these sadly misguided souls even want to silence dissent to their crusade against our Pope. So very very sad to see these poor souls who satan has turned against their own Pope. The leader of the cabal, BrianK, can't even keep his word. If we can't believe him when he says he's leaving the forum, something that is completely of his own free will and completely up to him to control his actions, why in Our Lord's name would we believe any of this nonsense from those that fancy themselves the remnant? So very very sad.

Our Pope in bed with Soros. If a member posting that isn't banned, I'm not quite sure what would get one banned around this fallen forum.

Waiting for the thread to show up one day: "Proof Positive, Crucify Him!"

Pathetic FatimaPilgrim. Simply pathetic. Respond to the questions that have been asked. Stop attacking the posters instead of addressing their concerns. I have been up against many misguided Pharisees who have told me (when I was fighting the pedophilia in the church) let the church take care of it, you are hurting the church, he's a prince of the church, he is a priest and you don't say anything bad about a priest, etc.

I may ask you all, what priests, catholic organizations tried to stop the pedophilia? I could answer you since I was on the front lines. I could tell you all those "catholic" groups that fought us, and for that fact Brian in his diocese, thus enabling countless children to be raped, their souls lost, at a cost of $2-$3 billion to the church.

I have nothing. No position, no power, no money. I have lost it all. Oh yeah, that sounds like a pharisee to me. Maybe a zealot for the faith. I am sick and tired of being attacked by the pope and now you of being a hypocrite/pharisee. At the same time the pope is using Cardinal Godfrey Daneels as an advisor. No FatimaPilgrim, I think the Blessed Mother is wondering what is going on in her church that is downplaying the life issue, the sin of perversion activities, global warming, etc. in favor of a false mercy and social justice (whatever that means). By the way, who is against "social justice"?

    SOROS FUNDS PRO-ABORTION MARCH
    [IMG]
Bill Donohue comments on the upcoming March for Choice:

On September 24, there will be a March for Choice in Dublin, and in 16 other cities; events will be held in 11 nations, including Ireland. Its proximate goal is to force the repeal of Ireland’s Eighth Amendment that bans abortion; its long-term goal is to secure abortion-on-demand in other Catholic European countries.

The money behind this effort is coming largely from George Soros, the atheist Jewish billionaire who hates Israel—he labels it a “racist” nation—and loves to fund pro-abortion campaigns. That he likes to interfere in the internal affairs of Catholic nations is indisputable.

His Open Society Foundation funds Amnesty International Ireland, the Abortion Rights Campaign and the Irish Family Planning Association. They are promoting the protest. He also funds Catholics for Choice in the United States, an anti-Catholic letterhead with no members.

Reportedly, Soros has donated more than $25 million to help Hillary Clinton and other Democrats win in November; one report says he has given $9 million to her alone.

The lavish amounts Soros spends on Clinton is something Catholics should know about. After all, she is on record stating that pro-life “religious beliefs” must change. Last year, in reference to abortion, she explicitly said that “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.” In other words, it is the duty of elites, such as Soros, to foster the pro-abortion agenda.

An honest media would tell the public what I have just said—it’s all true. But don’t hold your breath.

George Soros targeted Ireland recently he poured untold millions into funding propaganda for anti Catholic propaganda here. Apparently they were using Irelandas a test bed, figuring if they could swing it in Cahtolic Ireland they could swing things anywhere.

I suspect he is possessed. I will be charitable and say no more.

Thank you picadillo. I too have nothing. My profession was taken away by the recent illness. I'm a nobody.

A local update. Lot's of people were and still are in denial about this. These creeps have never been so emboldened as they have by this "who am I too judge" papacy, which openly promotes the gay friendly German & Austrian and other cardinals.

"The Altoona-Johnstown Diocese did not get a subpoena because the attorney general's office released its grand jury report of that region in March. The report led to charges against three ey Franciscan friars for alleged child endangerment and criminal conspiracy. The agency also set up a hotline for people to call to report abuse claims across the state."

This is just my personal opinion, but I believe that the liquification of the blood in Pope Francis' presence signifies he will be forced to flee just as his predecessor did.

Just a hunch, but perhaps Pope Pius IX was a "type" for what will happen later. Many prophecies say Rome will be overrun.

Don't blame the pope for your problems and the world problems. He has changed nothing! He may not be the pope that we have all liked and revered for the last many decades for their clear teachings, but he is whom God has a plan for at this moment in history. I say, we will do much better praying for him then trying every way we can to link him to apostasy as seems to be the case with some on MOG.

I think three of the gripes about our Holy Father in the original article posted on this thread tend to make a mountain out of a mole hill! or maybe I am not outraged enough?

1] The Pope is activly endorseing the evil of Islam, stating...........Over the centuries, aggressive bloody Muslim invasions informed papal teaching. Pope Callixtus III denounced Islam as a “diabolical sect.” Pius II warned against Muhammad as a “false prophet,” and Pope Eugene condemned “the abominable sect of Mahomet.” In the 16th century, Pope Leo X described the Muslims as replacing the light of salvation with “totally unyielding blindness.” Modern day Popes, such as Pius XI described the “darkness of Islam.” Pope Francis surely relegates these predecessors to the ash heap of unenlightened bigotry.

:oops:Maybe Pope Francis is taking a leaf out of St Pope John Paul II book! Saint Pope John Paul II made apologies on behalf of the Catholic Church, for the sins of Catholics throughout the ages for violating "the rights of ethnic groups and peoples, and for showing contempt for their cultures and religious traditions and also to the Muslims, for the Crusaders killings!

2] The Pope cheapens the gravity of the papal moral voice to promote the Muslim European migration, as he did with the Soros/UN faux climate change movement. Remember, that lofty theological tenet in Laudato Si, turn down your air conditioners?

:oops:Maybe Pope Francis is recalling the third Joyful Mystery. The Birth of Jesus in Bethlehem.
When Jesus was born there was no room for his Mother, His foster Father nor for Him and so He was born in a stable!
We must remember man rejected Him [innocent though that may be] but other created species of our ecosystem, like oxen, sheep and donkeys gave him warmth, company and refuge in The Holy Familes time of need! All of Gods creation have a place on Gods Earth too.

3]Francis willingly provides the voice of moral outrage for the Soros-driven migrant crisis, stating............. Pope Francis today slammed governments who close their doors to refugees, calling for a more compassionate approach to "people living through a real and dramatic exile, far from their countries, with the ruins of their own homes still in their eyes, fear in their hearts and often suffering from the loss of people dear to them.

:oops:Maybe Pope Francis is recalling the second sorrow of Mary, The flight into Eygpt. When the Holy Family were refugees in Egypt!, it would be wonderful to think that some people may have not only tolerated them but also even welcomed them!.

Judgement time will come to all of us one day! and I can only hope that we are not judged as harshly as some are judging Our Holy Father

Jesus most certainly did not do the same things as Pope Francis. Here's a link to the Vatican's Scientific Academy's document "prepared by P. Dasgupta, V. Ramanathan, P. Raven, Mgr M. Sorondo, M. Archer, P. J. Crutzen, P. Lena, Y.T. Lee, M. J. Molina, M. Rees, J. Sachs, J. Schellnhuber, Mgr M. Sorondo". https://www.dbb.org.au/_uploads/_ckpg/files/climate-change-and-the-common-good,background info.pdf

Perhaps you can point me to where, anywhere, in Sacred Scripture or Church history Jesus enlisted the aid of unrepentant sinners or promoters of Satanic causes to guide the faithful.

Nobody here said that Pope Francis is an apostate.

You say that God has a plan for this Pope in this moment in history. God has a plan for every single human being at every moment in history. If every human being followed God's plan there would be no apostates, heretics or non-Christians. Christ's Church is perfect. The members of the Church from the top down are not. The Pope can be misguided or mistaken. He wouldn't be the first Pope to be so and probably won't be the last.

I'm having a very hard time reconciling what Jesus said about shaking the dust from our feet with the example being set by this Pope in whom he chooses to advise him. The powerful Romans crucified St. Peter. Their successors heap praise on Peter's successor as he promotes their agenda. Something's not right and burying our heads in the sand won't make it right.

Didn't expect you of all people to come out with the old 'Jesus dined with sinners' banality.

The Church is in profound crisis because of poor leadership. In fact it is in a mode of auto-destruction.

When someone like Brian points out that the foundations of the building are crumbling, why do you point to the cracks in the plaster?

This is the truth. We who are concerned about the the way our Church leadership is heading, are not 'pope-haters' who delight in saying nasty things about our pope and certain cardinals/ bishops. What would it profit us to do that?

As Dolours said: "Something's not right and burying our heads in the sand won't make it right."

Dolours, what is your end game in your attacks on the Vicar of Christ? Have you or your friends on MOG been chosen to be the mouthpiece of God to alert the Catholic world that we have a persecutor of Jesus as our Pope? Even if this were true, Jesus said to pray for those who persecute you, right? Are you doing this? If so, how can one pray for a person and still be in the hunt for the next juicy story slamming the Vicar of Christ? You want me to "point to where Jesus enlisted the aid of an unrepentant sinner of Satanic causes to guide the faithful"? This should not be hard for you to find this if you were studying scripture instead of breaking the 8th commandment of slander/gossip. As you should know, Jesus chose Judas as one of his apostles and he loved him to the very end, even in his sinfulness and his betrayal, Jesus wept bidderly for him while he washed his feet before the last supper. Are you doing this for Pope Francis? Are you weeping for your perceived sinfulness of him? How can a person weep or pray for someone and at the same time wanting to post the next juicy story as if they are an editor of the National Enquirer? Shame on you and anyone else who continues this diatribe of accusations against the Vicar of Christ. Are you without sin that you feel worthy to do this?
