The founder of the Austrian Priests Initiative, the group of priests who issued an "Appeal to Disobedience" in 2011 is going on a promotional tour of 15 cities in the US this summer. He's pushing for admission of women and married people into the priesthood under the guise of keeping churches open (citing a lack of priests as the primary problem). I'm sure he's pushing for other objectives as well. He was scheduled to speak at a Catholic church here in Massachusetts, but Cardinal Sean O'Malley squashed it, so he is speaking at a nearby unitarian universalist church ...much to the dismay of parishoners of the catholich church. Talk about the schism surfacing!! Be on your guard. Make sure this practicing priest and his group are not speaking on the church premise in your area! Good for Fr. Sean! I can see why he got a few votes to be pope. He is awake! Let us all be awake...as misguided priests of Austria try to spread their errors to the U.S.!! Three cheers for Cardinal O'Malley! Hip hip Hurray! Hip hip Hurray! Hip hip Hurray! That's three cheers from one O' to another O'! Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!
I was talking to an ex seminarian just yesterday about woman priesthood. He told me even if a renegade Bishop was to consecrate a woman it would be completely invalid. The character of the priesthood would not be there. It would be all pretend. Any more theological insight into this coming dilemma would be appreciated [ not that im a theologian]
This is what makes my head ache. Are these the priests the Blessed Virgin asks that we pray for? If so, what am I supposed to pray - that they change their ways, get sense, stop doing Satan's will or what. Right now, apart from wanting to slap them, I really think they should leave - I really think they are leading those who listen to them to hell - and it seems so wrong. Byut I dont know how to stop them. Well done to the Bishop who told them to get lost - I hope everyone else does to. Oh and before I forgot - they are so wrong to say that married clergy is the answer to the Church's problems I always believed the answer to the problems is to go back to the basics and start following God again.
My personal prayer mission these days is to pray for priests. In each rosary or chaplet I pray, I bring different categories of priests to the Blessed Mother. For those in error and in danger of apostacy, I pray: 1. That her spouse, the Divine Spirit of love, will inflame in them their first love of the Lord, wake them up, and convert their hearts. 2. That if they are too hard-hearted to respond to the Holy Spirit, that she will confuse their plans, scatter their forces and dis-arm them, so they can't do further damage. 3. That not one of them will lose their soul for lack of prayer and sacrifice, especially on my part. This is a spiritual war, and we are well-armed with the rosary, the chaplet of divine mercy and the holy sacrifice of the Mass. Our greatest temptation is to feel over-powered and give up. We are NOT over-powered - all of heaven is at our side. And we have to remember that the enemies of our Church are really our patients. Their souls are sick unto death, and God desires their healing, not their perdition. All I have to do, when I feel the hardness of heart that can lead to hatred toward a person, is to imagine them in hell. My compassion kicks in and my heart melts. What did St. Padre Pio say? Pray, hope and don't worry. We all know how this story ends...
Thank you Kathy K. I will try and follow your lead. I have always found it confusing and what you say above makes perfect sense. Many thanks.
