Prominent Catholic theologian calls for Revolution against Rome

One of the world's most prominent Catholic theologians has called for a revolution from below to unseat the Pope and force radical reform at the Vatican.
Hans Küng is appealing to priests and churchgoers to confront the Catholic hierarchy, which he says is corrupt, lacking credibility and apathetic to the real concerns of the church's members.
In an exclusive interview with the Guardian, Küng, who had close contact with the pope when the two worked together as young theologians, described the church as an "authoritarian system" with parallels to Germany's Nazi dictatorship.
"The unconditional obedience demanded of bishops who swear their allegiance to the pope when they make their holy oath is almost as extreme as that of the German generals who were forced to swear an oath of allegiance to Hitler," he said.
The Vatican made a point of crushing any form of clerical dissent, he added. "The rules for choosing bishops are so rigid that as soon as candidates emerge who, say, stand up for the pill, or for the ordination of women, they are struck off the list." The result was a church of "yes men", almost all of whom unquestioningly toed the line.
"The only way for reform is from the bottom up," said Küng, 84, who is a priest. "The priests and others in positions of responsibility need to stop being so subservient, to organise themselves and say that there are certain things that they simply will not put up with anymore."

Poor man. I will pray for him. He cannot be happy.

    MS7,

This was the saddest sentence in your post. Such divergent paths these two have taken. Such a hateful claim to make! Like wax before the warm rays of the sun, dear Jesus, melt the heart of Hans in the twilight of his life. Mercy!

Safe in the Flames of the Sacred Heart!

He has fallen into a state of heresy and really he is not a Catholic theologian since he disagrees with almost all Catholic doctrine and practise.

What really annoys me about Kung & his ilk is their intellectual dishonesty. They should leave the Church and join a protestant sect in their own image and likeness. But instead they are like rotten apples and heresy spreads adding to the growing apostacy we see happening all around us.:(

As far as I know, Küng is still a priest, but he was stripped of the authority to teach Catholic theology by Pope John Paul II in 1979. His prominence is often exaggerated by the media.

I listened to a Church of England lady arguning very strongly for aborttion this morning on the radio. She started by saying she has a very strong relationship with Jesus Churst and has had for very many years.

Things like this leave me scartching my head. I wonder if she or Kung ever have doubts?

I like to believe that somewhere their conscineces must be screaming at them somewhere. Well I hope so.

He is a child of God. One who was carved by the hand of the Eternal Father as we all were.
He has allowed himself to become blinded by the lies of lucifer.
He is a fallen priest one of the ones that Our Lady has asked us to pray much for.
We should pray and offer many sacrifices that he sees the error of his ways and once more walks in the truth of Jesus.

    God bless

If you don't like the rules GET OUT!
    It is that simple.

I watched a video on Medjugorje, in which a man was giving a testimony.

This divorced man was telling the audience that because of his conversion he found a new love and was married again.
He said something along the lines like "this proves Our Lady wants us to be happy and She showed me to happiness again"

    My point is....
Man can justify ANYTHING. Even in the name of God or of Our Lady.

A Catholic lady argues strongly for abortion, Priests being disobediant, a man says Mary is happy to divorce and remarry.
    NO.
"GO AWAY, you are leading others astray!"

The biggest problem that Jesus had when he walked the earth was hypocrites and those who betrayed him. It is the same today...

When Christ cried before He raised Lazarus from the dead, I don't think it was because He mourned the death of Lazarus. He knew that Lazarus died for him to prove that God can raise from the dead. It pointed out our resurrection as well as the resurrection of Christ.

I really believe in my heart of hearts, that Christ lamented the jewish leaders that moaned when he didnt go to Lazarus sooner, then accused him of all sorts of things after He raised Lazarus from the dead.

I think Christ took one look at their hearts and mourned the loss of their souls, as even in the flesh, even with all He had done, they still refused to recognize love, instead being drunk on their own self importance.. Sadly, it is the same in some places today...

I weep when I see people breaking the commandments, or wanting to throw a homeless person out of the Church then take the Sacraments... Don't they realise how much it cost Christ to suffer... Don't they realise that for them, His death was in vain...and it cost HIM and Our Blessed Mother so much..

You know, when they were beating her son, she wanted so much to reach out to him, to bathe his wounds but she couldn't so she did the next best thing, she cleaned his blood of the ground, and as she did so, her tears from her poor broken heart mingled with his blood as they dropped from her eyes. This joint suffering was then offered to Our Eternal Father ( Mother Mary, co-redemptorist) on our behalf.

Do people not realise that Christ does away with sin in a two fold way? By forgiving our past, and helping us to change our hearts so that future sin is not committed?

Are there any others here who often feel like the lone ranger, or like a fish swimming upstream?

These people that I speak of go to bible sessions, prayer groups etc... All I can do is weep... If I don't weep, I would have a tendency to run, and I know that I mustn't do this, so I weep instead..

So many go on about the youth of today and how they don't pray etc, and blame them for everything.. But it isn't all their fault. Where was their example of prayer and faith being lived out in the life of the believer?

God have mercy on us all...

We are like fish swimming upstream, but we soldier on.

When my children (who are young adults) complain about church or do things in which I know will make Jesus weep. I do not blame them. I blame ME. I wish I had taught them better. I wish I had been taught better, then I could have passed this on to my children.

But now I know better. So I will be judged harder, and that is fair enough!

Now you are setting a wonderful example. Also, we can only do what we were taught, and now that you know more you act accordingly. I think it is the same for a lot of us. Your children notice more about you and your faith than they let on.. I know I did with my mum. ;)

I loved and agree with you on your post, but (without any disrespect) how do you know that the statement above is true?
Although we could not imagine the immense sorrow of our Lady, how can we know that this actually happened?

I have banned Pat333 from the forum. He is , I believe the false and quite wicked famous convicted, 'visionar', known as , 'Little Pebble' . I checked his ip addresses and he seems to be posting from about 15 places at the one time.

Notice he used the number , '333' which is the numner of the devil, '666' divided in half. I strongly suspect demonic possession. Anyhow I kicked his ass off and will be watching for him slithering back. I guess it is a compliment that the devil should attack the forum with such a well known baddie.Just about as bad as it gets.

His name is WIlliam Kamm and he is from Australia.

Hopefully he will not be back. I am keeping my eyes open.;)

Ugh that just left a bad taste in my mouth. Awful.

I don't think I'll post anymore this morning; just go to mass early and pray. May the Mother of God protect us from all evil.

I am baffled. I thought that he was one of the two Patrick's?

I know that a website that was posted led to William's page (which I don't think a convicted pedophile should be allowed to have) but this page that it led to was about the Two Patricks'. Although I must admit I am not a fan of theirs either..

Well if I have messed up I am sorry. :)

But I was told it was , 'Little Pebble'.

But it's a case of bad and badder. If its a case of one of the, 'Two Patricks', he's very bad. If its a case of it's, 'Little Pebble'. it's even worse. In either case their ass needed kicked off. :):)

I will keep my eyes peeled.
