I've actually never tasted dewberries...Never even heard of them until my sister figured out that's the berry growing all over both my land and hers! A neighbor told her! My dad and my sister's family just found their land and my dad will be closing on the sale in 2 weeks. They also have 10 acres, with a home on it that they'll all live in while my sister works on getting her house put on 3 acres of it. They'll live about 30 min away from us.

How wonderful to have family close by!:ROFLMAO: If I add up how far our 6 children live from us, it totals over 7600 miles! But...family reunion in Colorado in 2 weeks!

Fortunately, love is not bound by distance!

I want to get a location beeper but its only to connect with my parents since public transport is chaotic. surely its also a valuable prepping tool?

Y'all have prayed for me so much already, but if I could ask for a specific prayer about the rain... In the small town where I'm moving, it has rained every few days since January, without exception. The contractor can't get the dirt work done and the foundation poured until it's been dry for several days... So every single time he's scheduled to do it, he's been unable to because rain comes. So here we are again, scheduled for dirt work and concrete next week, and up pops rain chances on Thurs and Fri.

In addition to this, the grass and weeds on our land have become so high we can no longer put off mowing. It MUST be done so they can see where we've flagged the area for our house and so people can even walk around... So my husband, with his very odd work schedule, is off this Fri-Sun only out of the next many days and will be borrowing a riding lawn mower to take out there and mow tomorrow and Saturday. We'll all be going out there and staying in a hotel tomorrow night so he can get right back to mowing when we wake up. However...it's now saying there's a chance of thunderstorms basically all day tomorrow and Saturday. Of course on Sunday, when we can't work because it's the Lord's day, it's supposed to be a gorgeous sunny day.

Will y'all please pray that the rain stays away for a bit so we can get these things accomplished? It's getting so frustrating!

I hate to get too caught up in prepping, but if I can save money with rising food costs it’s worth it. I planted blueberry bushes today. Next, rhubarb and some fruit trees. I planted a vegetable garden, but with an overdose of rain, it’s slow coming in. There’s something about planting my own food, that makes me feel closer to my Creator.

My late father had a little sign he purchased for his garden. I have it now.
"The kiss of the sun for pardon,
the song of the birds for mirth,
one is nearer God's heart in a garden,
    than anywhere else on earth."

Well, it's not a Catholic verse necessarily, but it describes the feeling quite well.

Love it. I think Fr. Mark Goring is right on. He always says, we have to get back to nature. It’s very healing in a sick culture.

We have a ninja air fryer but don't use it often (I've only used it once). What kind of food do you dehydrate?

I vaguely remember reading a verse from the prophecy of La Salette (possibly apocryphal) that said a time would come when the earth would only produce rotten fruits. This is a horrible thing to imagine, especially since trees carry a certain sacred significance in scriptures and many cultures. Perhaps this is one of those tribulational contexts where there is little or no solution for survival. Frankly, can anyone imagine what to do in such a case?
