Dear MOG members I simply request in your charity a little prayer. At a moment of complete darkness where hope is absent love is cold and faith is dead upon my lips a prayer please. I have entered an eclipse that has cast a shadow so dark upon me. A war has raged in my heart for so long. A well that is so deep but always with light has been now covered. No light no anything. Christmas has passed in this darkness yet I cried out help me. This new year begun in the advance of omicron madness. A little prayer I ask of you. I continue to say the Magnificat the rosary not each day as it’s too painful. Everything shouts it’s all a lie. God is dead. I am without hope yet alive. I do not know how. For God is my life. He has gone.
I think padre pio went through spiritual darkness. Keep praying your rosary , and don't let the enemy win
Ignacio I am putting you in all my prayers today. You are not alone!!! This terrible temptation has stalked many of us. It is demonic. God has permitted it but it is definitely from the evil one. I am praying that as you are being sifted you will hold fast. Even if its just words to you I urge you to repeat the following sime prayer as often as you can. "Most precious Blood of Jesus Christ save us and save the whole world." It is very very powerful. King David experienced this darkness. "Out of the depths I cry unto you O Lord. O Lord hear my voice..."
Ignacio…. What a suffering you are going through. Yes, I will pray for you. But, perhaps a word of consolation and hope. You are not alone…many great great saints (and I think many holy people who are not official canonized saints) suffer this dark night of the soul. I think it shows you are on the path of holiness… remember our dear Blessed Mother suffered in many ways throughout her life- the sword pierced her soul- yet look to her as she had hope and kept the faith. And of course Christ Himself… in the Garden the night before he suffered…. Father, father why have you abandoned me? Let’s this cup pass…. But of course, our Lord knew too…. Thine will be done. Not at all easy my friend. But please do not lose hope. We are praying for you, but much more importantly, Our Lady and Our Savior are with you and they will never, never leave you orphaned. Peace.
My Spiritual Director used to advise me in Darkness to pray to the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Joy and Peace to come to my aid. I advise the same and will pray for His coming. It is often when God seems furthest that He is closest.
Yes, I think there is precedent for this. Literature-wise, I think it is St. John of the Cross who came up with the term dark night of the soul.... But, what better saint could we turn to in living in this time of the 21st century than St mother Teresa of Calcutta. Really, she received messages (visions?) to do her work to help the poor, and then, it's a bit like God turned His back on her. ( That seems to be what that movie "Letters" is about). So who better to ask for intercession along with countless others I am sure. You are in my prayers, Ignacio. Perhaps if you can't say a whole rosary each day, just pray a decade. Perhaps you will be able to continue once started, but if not, you will have prayed part of it and kept the habit up until the light returns in your mind and heart. You are not alone; you are with Jesus in the Garden. You are with Him on the cross. Just don't give up on prayer.
