Aoife's numbers continue to slowly improve, although she is very tired today, but now the doctors think she has developed diabetes, a huge complication for her health status, which is already extremely complicated-spina bifida of a very severe nature, featuring paraplegia, combined with one very poor arm and one which is about 60% functional; a consequent tendency for kidney infections, now about to be exacerbated by her new diagnosis; bowel problems; depression. My fear is that this will ultimately culminate in a quality of life issue, with survival becoming ever more burdensome for her. My wife has already expressed the wish that she not receive the burden of dialysis. Traditional Catholic theology tends to agree with her, in the circumstances. Please God, we will not be faced with these kinds of decision.
DeGaulle, praying that your daughter’s numbers continue to improve. So sorry your sweet daughter is suffering.
I will be praying for your daughter! Mother Mary hold this family close!
I am praying hard for Aoife's healing and for your family too. You are carrying a heavy cross of love. Watching someone we love suffer is so very hard.
A heavy cross, for you all! More prayers!
Continuous prayers for all of you.
Still praying for Aoife, and for your family.
I have been offline for most of the day so just catching up.
I am praying for you and your beloved daughter.
St Pio is my go to saint in a crisis. I'm praying to him now.
God bless you and your family.
More prayers at Mass. With thanks for His help so far.
Thanks again for all the prayers. My last post featured me at my most pessimistic. When it comes to Aoife's health, my wife and I tend to, to use my wife's word, 'catastrophise'. It has been a useful survival mechanism for Aoife over the years, as we've been right quite a few times, getting in with early diagnoses of problems. More than once, we've been ahead of the doctors. Hopefully this time we're just being overly pessimistic.
I have just logged on to the forum site, DeGaulle, you are suffering a heavy cross.
The cross, always presents two alternatives, that is a prayer for healing or a prayer for acceptance.
But there is a third way, for those of faith which encompasses both alternatives. That is a prayer of surrender to Gods will.
In this God uses both our human want for healing together with our desire of acceptance of His Will.
In surrender; God takes into account....
where we are spiritually,
what struggles we face,
what is best for us,
what graces He is about to bestow with the outcome
and what glory each sacrifice of the individual soul contributes to the body of Christ (the communion of saints).
It is a sorrowful and saintly road.
May God continue to heal Aoife and may God bless Aoife, you and your family with not only healing but consolations!
Praying for Aoife and you
Praying for Aoife. May God Bless you all.
Bring to completion what you have begun, Lord!
As my post above shows, I was very pessimistic last night. Today, things are looking not so bleak. Aoife's numbers are somewhat improved. We're beginning to think we can hope again. I can tell you, Aoife's one tough cookie(!), but I think she has needed all the prayers she so gracefully received.
I am so glad. Prayers continue.
Just saw your request, Mick and your update. Thanking our Lord and Lady for your daughter's improvement. I pray that she will continue to heal from this ordeal.
