From what I can see, now that the smoke is clearing a little is that Iran has been defeated before a war has properly even gotten underway. All she can do now is throw in the cards and accept a new Government installed by the USA/Israel and accept her country being basically raped as Libya, Iraq and Syria were dealt with before. Or on the other hand to go the way of Gaza but on a bigger scale. In either case the current regime in Iran is done for. A new government can then be installed and it will be back to Iran's oil wealth being looted as it was under the regime of the former Shah. This all looks like a big, big win for the USA and Israel. But on a longer term scale it simply kicks the can of bitterness and hatred further down the road. Every time an Islamic state is defeated and humiliated like this it drives them further and further into the arms of the Militants. I could be wrong, but my sense is that Trump genuinely wants these trade deals in place to stop wars. This is a big tactic that Milton Friedman used to advocate for. Essentially, a trade deal where everyone wins and the destruction stops is a good investment for everyone. However, if trade deals can't be reached then I see Trump pulling America out. War is a bad investment in his mind and he is right. Currently, he is exhausting every avenue, this way no one can come back and say he didn't try. Now the problem Israel has is that Iran has powerful allies. Iran was sending loads of weapons to Russia over the last few years and now Russia has obligations. I can also see China stepping in too. I take the fact that Our Blessed |Mother has asked for nine days of prayer as a huge sign of hope. Mary, she who stands in the gap. She never gives up and is always in there batting away. In a human sense we might be greatly inclined to despair but Mary never ever gives up, she always takes the positive path of love and hope. I love this so much about her.
