My dear prayer warriors, once again I am here asking for prayers. This time I am asking for prayers for my husband. He has gone back into severe depression again (due to many different circumstances) and I know that once he drinks it will turn to a lot of anger and rage and my children and I will bear the brunt of it. I ask that you please pray that his depression be lifted and let him have the hope he needs and the trust in Our Lord that he should have. I know I shouldn't worry about what will come and trust in our Lord, but I have been through it for so many years that it is very difficult for me to do. I pray night and day for him and deep down know that we will be taken care of but I would love it knowing that I have people behind me praying. I need peace in my home, please, please pray for me to have peace and joy in my home and not to have it filled with hate and anger. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart, there is not a better group of people who offer up prayers and support. You are all in my prayers every day.
Allyd, I was just reading there about an American lady , who, when Padre Pio was alive visited Rome. She had very, very serious problems indeed and heard a Franciscan Friar in Rome preach a sermon on Padre Pio and the miracles he was working. This lady , full of fear took the train down to San Giovanni and on the way down met an American Friar, Father Dominic who had been cured of cancer by Padre Pio and whose father had encountered Padre Pio , miraculously, through bi location in Milwaukee. Anyhow as soon as Fr Dominic mentioned this ladies worries to Padre Pio she felt at a distance the strong smell of the perfume which is always a sign that Padre Pio was, 'On the job'. I am touched by the apparent, 'Conicidence' of reading this story right after reading your post and am quite certain that Padre Pio is taking a personal interest in your concerns and prayers. So lets pray together and ask our guardia nangels to go up to heaven and give Padre Pio a call for us and ask him to intercede for you and your husband and family. I will ask my guardian angel to keep reminding me to pray for you right thorugh Advent and most especially on Christmas Day. Angels love been asked for things like this an Padre Pio loved the angels so much. I read a story about Padre Pio ; one time he was sitting out in the friary garden and another monk saw him, apparently in converstaion although he was alone!! The friar asked him who he was talking too and Padre Pio quietly said that it was a long queque of peoples Guardian angels lined up, as they did all the time asking for favours from the souls of those they warded. I always thought this was so beautiful. So lets send our guardian angels with great confidence to Padre Pio. Remembering that saints in heaven and a thousand times more powerful than they are on Earth; especially when we approach with faith and confidence. You have a great cross, Allyd; but you also have great faith; be sure God will honour this. So thorugh Advent lets keep sending our angels and poor Padre Pio will be so bothered by them he will have to listen and get on the case. Luke 18 The Parable of the Persistent Widow 1 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’ 4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’” 6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” You know, Allyd one thing I noticed about Our Lady from talking to her and which I will always remember and always deeply touch me is this. We call Mary Our Mother..and Mother she is, for God has made this so. But I always had a sense, since I was a child ,that since Mary was Mother so many billions and billions of people that no matter how she tried she could not really take an interest in each of us personally. Oh...I did not think this right out...for even then I would have known that this would betray a lack of faith.. However I was astounded in talking to her to encounter her complete Maternal warmth AND INDIVIDUAL KNOWLEDGE OF MYSELF AND MY CIRCUMSTANCES. ...that she knew me right through and through. More than that when she smiled and laughed at soemthing I said I knew she actually LIKED me and apreciated my sense of humour. Now I love to laugh and joke and am a great smiler, I have always been otuched by that, that Mary's love for us is in no way impersonal but that she knows us much better..and loves us much better than our Earthly mothers ever could..again more than that , that she likes each one of us...which sounds like a strange kind of thing to say..but its the only way I can put it....but she actually likes us because each of us is an individual child of hers..she knows us right from the womb.....so she realy, truly is a Mother and knows our concerns..so we really can approach this Great Queen , Our Mother with the very greatest confidence. ]
Allyd, I will pray for you and for your husband to find peace. I know some of what you are going through, and this time of year is always the worst too for my husband. He has let go of drinking for good now, but the depression, especially around the holidays, still grips him. For the last three years he had anxiety/depression medication, but since his trip to Medjugorje, he decided to try going off the meds and using prayer in its place. Well, I still see some of the old depression, but he seems to be "checking" it after a few days. The cat thing resolved itself the morning after I put it out on the forum! Other years this simply would not have happened. It would've put him into his cave for at least 2 weeks. This was his holiday depression along with the grief over the cat triggering his anger and his inability to cope with these strong feelings, but then a miracle happened (of course, I offered it up to this forum of prayer warriers, which I am more and more convinced includes a multitude of angels too). He actually talked to the guys at his work about losing the cat! He normally does not open up like that to "the guys". It helped him immensely and by 10 am he was calling me and trying to make amends and apologise for being so heartless and etc. So, for him, first getting rid of the alcohol, then getting on meds to help him get back to a "normal place" with the help of a practicing Catholic psychiatrist (this was an "accident", but has proven to be very beneficial), then Medjugorje...now it is up to him and his relationship with God. I pray that somehow, your husband will find a path and will find people (besides you, because you can't do it all for him, as much as you want to) who can help him set things right inside himself, and eventually that will lead him to God and to our Mother's embrace. I pray that Padre Pio and the angels all nudge him, and even push him hard when he needs it, down the path that leads to inner peace. Even a tiny bit of inner peace will do wonders. I pray for inner peace for him. And for outer peace for your household, and for a happy Christmas under your roof. I always am praying this for myself every year, I walk on eggshells all through the holidays...maybe this year I can pay it forward, maybe this year I can pray it for you. Maybe that will bring it to both of us! Wow...Hmmm, is that you talking, Mother? Starting with a rosary in a few minutes...
I'll say AMEN to that! I get a kick out of thinking of ourselves as holy pests  , but I'm willing to do what it takes! You and your husband are in my prayers, Allyd. Safe in the hearts of Jesus and Mary!
Allyd- you are in my prayers as well. God will take care of you both. I suggest the prayers of St. Bridget since they bring Grace to the family around the one praying it. Pray specifically for the healing of your husband's heart. I will pray for that as well. Kath
