Prayers for all who died in the attack on the Church in Cairo on today , Palm Sunday.

God have mercy, rest in peace.

I hate to sound bitter , but the simple fact is they blow up our Churches and cut our heads off.

We don't blow up their Mosques nor cut their heads off.

Yes, this was a great blow to my wife and I this morning waking up. Our prayers this morning are with those who are suffering. It is very easy to become jaded to the news these days when such things have become commonplace. I regret that we will likely see and hear much more of this in the days to come.

Our hearts go out to those who suffer.

Julia Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

    All so sad.

Wasn't it Cairo where blessed Mother appeared to millions of people back in the late 1960's. I remember reading somewhere the muslims had already marked the doors of Christian homes ready to send killers to wipe them out back in the 1960's. The kill frenzie was stopped when Blessed Mother appeared, or so I remember reading.

And I believe Holy Father is going to visit Egypt sometime soon, is that right.

Yes, he is supposed to be visiting there in a months time I have read. I hope that he is able to, I know that it would mean so much to the people there being persecuted. I have not heard this story about the Blessed Virgin appearing there. Off to google I go. Thanks! :)

Don, have reposted a link from another thread on this forum about Egypt. There are other places where apparitions took place I believe, besides the link posted.

Don, I am grieved, too! O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you!

There are claims of a miracle at the Tomb of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem last week which may or may not be related:

But claims of miracles at the Tomb are almost commonplace.

''The first writtenaccount of the Holy Fire (Holy Light) dates from the fourth century, but authors write about events that occurred in the first century. So Ss. John Damascene and Gregory of Nissa narrate how the Apostle Peter saw the Holy Light in the Holy Sepulchre after Christ's resurrection. "One can trace the miracle throughout the centuries in the many itineraries of the Holy Land." The Russian abbot Daniel, in his itinerary written in the years 1106-07, presents the "Miracle of the Holy Light" and the ceremonies that frame it in a very detailed manner. He recalls how the Patriarch goes into the Sepulchre-chapel (the Anastasis) with two candles. The Patriarch kneels in front of the stone on which Christ was laid after his death and says certain prayers, at which point the miracle occurs. Light proceeds from the core of the stone - a blue, indefinable light which after some time kindles unlit oil lamps as well as the Patriarch's two candles. This light is "The Holy Fire", and it spreads to all people present in the Church. The ceremony surrounding "The Miracle of the Holy Fire" may be the oldest unbroken Christian ceremony in the world. From the fourth century A.D. all the way up to our own time, sources recall this awe-inspiring event. From these sources it becomes clear that the miracle has been celebrated on the same spot, on the same feast day, and in the same liturgical frame throughout all these centuries.[2]'

Padraig, isn't that what we should expect? It is the most Holy place on Earth and therefore ought to be the most miraculous. Of course, human nature implies it will also be the most likely place for a mistaken or outright false claim.

And those attacks on churches (especially now during Passion week and Eastern) can happen everywhere in the world, also in Europe and the USA. I am aware of this every time when I am in church.... Since the attacks in Brussels, I do not feel "relaxed" anymore. How stupid and ignorant you can be to blow yourself up.... and then expecting to "earn" Paradise.... We have to evangelize Muslims. This can be done by some key sentences. The Holy Spirit will to the rest.

Unfortunately, all most of our Church leaders wish to do is 'dialogue' with them.
