I think it's a worthwhile interview. Perhaps it's already been posted. ‘The future Pope is not a successor to his predecessor, but a successor to Peter,’ says German Cardinal Gerhard Müller in an interview with La Repubblica, which was published yesterday by the leading Italian left-wing daily newspaper, which Pope Francis says he reads daily. We document the answers of the former Prefect of the Faith and Bishop Emeritus of Regensburg, whom Pope Francis had sidelined despite his young age. Advertisement Iacopo Scaramuzzi: Your Eminence, how do you feel at this moment? Cardinal Müller: A chapter in the history of the Church has closed. It is clear that the final judgement belongs to God, we cannot judge people. But when we talk about the pontificate, there are different opinions. There is unanimous praise for Francis' commitment to migrants, the poor and overcoming the divide between the centre and the periphery. On the other hand, he was also somewhat ambiguous in some moments, for example when he spoke of resurrection with Eugenio Scalfari. With Pope Benedict we had perfect theological clarity, but everyone has their own charisms and abilities, and I think Pope Francis had them more in the social dimension. Iacopo Scaramuzzi: Did you appreciate the fact that Francis reigned until his last breath without resigning? Cardinal Müller: Yes. Of course I don't want to criticise Pope Benedict for his decision, but I have always said that we must avoid the impression that the Pope's mission is only a function. The resignation must be an exception, we must not think that the apostles have retired... Iacopo Scaramuzzi: In your opinion, should the next Pope change the blessing for same-sex couples? Cardinal Müller: He must clarify this. The document passed under Francis wanted to help these people pastorally, but the Catholic doctrine of marriage must not be relativised. Iacopo Scaramuzzi: You said that the meetings convened by the Pope [the Synodality Synod] were just a symposium. Cardinal Müller: The bishops have an authority that must not be confused with the possibility for all the baptised to speak. It is a symposium, legitimate, but it is not a synod, it is not an expression of the magisterium of the Church. Of course, those who know little or nothing about Catholic theology say that the Pope is transforming the Church from an autocracy into a democracy. But it is wrong to confuse the Church with a political organisation like the World Economic Forum or the UN. Iacopo Scaramuzzi: Pope Francis has appointed a woman as prefect of a Vatican dicastery: Should this type of decision be repeated in the future? Cardinal Müller: The problem is not the woman, the problem is that a layman has been appointed to head a former congregation that is an expression of the authority of the College of Cardinals. The impression of outsiders was: Oh, finally a woman! And I think that when it comes to administrative offices such as the Governorate, there is no problem with it being headed by lay people, but the Roman Curia is an ecclesiastical institution. Iacopo Scaramuzzi: Pope Francis has been very committed to dialogue with Islam: do you think it should be continued? Cardinal Müller: St Thomas Aquinas already made a distinction: On the level of reason, we can have a dialogue with them. They respect certain principles of natural ethics and believe in God in their own way. But we must ask ourselves how it is possible that someone who believes in God, the Creator of all human beings, can kill in the name of God. Dialogue yes, but avoiding any form of relativism: the Catholic faith is not a singular expression of a universal world religion created by the Davos Forum. Iacopo Scaramuzzi: Bergoglio has signed a historic agreement with China: Will they continue on this path? Cardinal Müller: A compromise must be reached with these powerful dictators, but we cannot betray the principles of our faith, we cannot accept that atheist communists, enemies of humanity, write our catechism books or bring the image of Xi Jinping into the churches. We cannot accept that the Communists appoint the bishops. Iacopo Scaramuzzi: What should the next pope do and what profile should he have? Cardinal Müller: Every Pope must serve the mission of St Peter: He is Servus servorum Dei [Servant of the servants of God]. The future Pope is not the successor of his predecessor, but the successor of St Peter. Iacopo Scaramuzzi: Do you think that your positions are shared in the College of Cardinals? Do you have the feeling that you are in the minority? Cardinal Müller: It may be that some say: these theologians talk, others are pragmatic, they think more about power, influence... I don't know. Everyone must remember that we are the Mystical Body of Christ and not an international humanitarian and social organisation. This pleases many secularised people, the elite, the oligarchs, who would like the Pope to be a symbol of their religion, but the Pope is not a symbol of secularised religion.
Does anyone know if the video of the seagulls and white doves in large numbers in the night sky over Rome yesterday is real or edited with artificial intelligence?

I just took a look at the numbers of cardinals who will elect the new pope at the next conclave. There are 135 cardinals, but Cardinal Llovera from Spain will not attend; he was appointed as a cardinal in 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI. Of the remaining 134 cardinals, the breakdown is as follows: 5 were appointed by John Paul II, 21 by Benedict XVI, and as many as 108 by Pope Francis — including 14 (on August 27, 2022), 18 (on September 30, 2023), and 20 (on December 7, 2024). We have 52 individuals who have been appointed to the role within the last two and a half years who will be electing the new pope. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardinal_electors_in_the_2025_papal_conclave
The seagull that landed on the chimney of the Sistine Chapel in 2013 has the scientific name Larus argentatus. At least in my language, Brazilian Portuguese, this name is highly suggestive. The fog at Benedict XVI’s funeral contrasts somewhat with the sunny day at Francis’s funeral. Apparently, Francis died in communion with Benedict XVI and Saint Pius X, if we consider his moving visit to the tombs of both during his final days. The signs seem to point toward a reversal of Francis’s legacy in the upcoming conclave, but I still carry a certain human apprehension in my heart about what is to come — hope and apprehension at the same time.
Gulls are not doves... They look like doves. I am not implying anything. I pray for Pope Francis everday at Mass, and still pray for him.
ok, because going through the two of your posts a certain kind of thing kind of made itself obvious, at least to me. The seagull at the conclave, then the seagull attacking a dove, then hundreds of seagulls are circling above St. Peters, at night of all times, just before Pope Francis' funeral. The seagull in this instance is not a good sign IMO. The seagull is like a bookend for the beginning and end of Pope Francis' papacy, but also during the dove of peace was attacked by one. I can't but think the circling seagulls are also metaphor for the Cardinals at this time.
Leviticus 11: 13 Of birds these are they which you must not eat, and which are to be avoided by you: The eagle, and the griffon, and the osprey, 14 And the kite, and the vulture, according to their kind, 15 And all that is of the raven kind, according to their likeness. 16 The ostrich, and the owl, and the larus [sea gull], and the hawk according to its kind. 17 The screech owl, and the cormorant, and the ibis, 18 And the swan, and the bittern, and the porphyrion, 19 The heron, and the charadrion according to its kind, the houp also, and the bat. 20 Of things that fly, whatsoever goeth upon four feet, shall be abominable to you. Apocalypse 18: 1 And after these things, I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power: and the earth was enlightened with his glory. 2 And he cried out with a strong voice, saying: Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen; and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every unclean spirit, and the hold of every unclean and hateful bird: 3 Because all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication; and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her; and the merchants of the earth have been made rich by the power of her delicacies. 4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying: Go out from her, my people; that you be not partakers of her sins, and that you receive not of her plagues. 5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and the Lord hath remembered her iniquities.
oh wow! you're right, not just the Cardinals flocked together for the funeral, but all the world leaders too. It also does seem like babylon or a type of it has fallen recently. I mean, in the instance of revelation I guess it refers to them having fallen to the demons, which is obvious right now. So now plagues come? I know a bunch of deep state weirdos keep announcing more epidemics coming. Also, it seems like the voice from heaven telling people to get out from Babylon is inferring that the plagues in this occurrence only will affect the region of Babylon.
Revelations by Cardinal Erdö reveal contacts between President Macron and several French cardinals aimed at preventing the election of Cardinal Sarah. https://tribunechretienne.com/le-pr...rer-la-route-de-la-papaute-au-cardinal-sarah/ Some things never change. We hope for two equal pillars but often have just one.
The fact Macron is worried about Sarah to the point of meddling in the affairs of French Cardinals tells me he has an outstanding chance of being elected. HA! could you imagine Sarah becoming Pope Pius XIII.
An even keel disposition. There are others I favor, but would not be disappointed if he is our next Pope.
