He wouldn't have cancelled that trip lightly. According to one report, he was going to use it as an opportunity to castigate countries for lack of action on climate change. He could have led by example by cancelling that Sinod. As Padraig says, he still has time.
I think plenty of Catholics would rather tithe to help cardinal burke than give money to the Vatican.
Cardinal Burke has a simple heart, not associated with any agenda. From the initial Dubia back in 2013, the Vatican has brushed him aside. He is a humble man. Some mistake that to indicate weakness or lack of gumption. I believe him to be holy.
