The reason your still with us Padraig is that you are one with us as part of our Lady's army...Hail Mary we are with you with many rosary's.
In World War II the American soldiers landing on the beaches in France put condoms over the end of their rifles to keep the seawater out. If using condom in this sense, then you are correct using a condom is not intrinsically sinful. I suppose this type of use was what you are referring to in your statement since all uses of artificial birth control are intrinsically evil. Or perhaps you were talking about using them to make balloon animals? No. Using contraception is always intrinsically evil. It makes no difference whether it is a barrier method or an abortifacient or any other method. Here is the teaching from the Catechism of the Catholic Church: 2370 ..."every action which, whether in anticipation of the conjugal act, or in its accomplishment, or in the development of its natural consequences, proposes, whether as an end or as a means, to render procreation impossible" is intrinsically evil...
Before I got my faith back I never understood how evil birth control is. I never knew that many forms were abortifacient. Using them is probably the greatest grief I have over my life of sin! They are a poison to the soul! A subtle poison... I think Humanae Vitae is prophetic in much of what it says. Once you separate procreation from the marital act the body becomes a playground. You see the other sex as a source of pleasure and true love is diminished. Even the ability to truly love is diminished.
Exactly. So if we have a Pope and Curia who are about to encourage Catholics to commit that which is intrinsically evil, what does that make them? Evil
The devil never rings the front door bell and enters announced. He goes round to back and finds an open window. Which is why the current moves on contraception are being done in secret. The devil loves secret. He adores sneaky. Isaiah 29:15 Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the LORD, who do their work in darkness and think, "Who sees us? Who will know?"
So being pressured by worldliness rather than teach we will change tradition. Holy Mother, Blessed Virgin please pray for us!
Yes Praetorian. I too lived in ignorance of the beauty of the Church's teaching. I have grieved over the sins I committed against that teaching ever since. Humae Vitae is prophetic in every sense of the word and proves papal infallibility because Paul VI wanted to change the teaching but in the end produced this amazing document. He obeyed the Holy Spirit in spite of himself.
More and more it seems so clear that people who do not pray in these times..and I mean really, really pray, with a good active spiritual life, will be lost. People should try as hard as they can to get to mass once a day, for instance. I don't think once a week will swing it. It can be seen as clearly as day follows day that people are being led over a cliff and into hell like a crowd of lemmings. Prayer is the antidote to this. Regular confession, at least once a month. The rosary always on hand. A firm purpose of amendment for sins, especially habitual ones. A constant watch of the senses , in all we see in the media and the increasingly evil pagan culture around us. An intense and constant care for the moral education and spiritual welfare of our children. A constant desire to be lad by and guided by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth. A wise and constant use of Sacramentals. A vigilant awareness of events in the Church which are dictated by Satan, the Ancient enemy of mankind. A vibrant Devotion to the Mother of God , the angels (especially St Michael) and the saints (especially St Joseph) None of us are going to wing our way through this on automatic. None of us.
How do come to conclude that the use of condom is not an intrinsic evil? Are you thinking if it was used on a toe or something? Because if you use it to have sexual relations it is always an intrinsic evil. The sinfulness of using a condom within the sexual act is not a "ruling", rather a teaching from natural law.
Modern Catholic Dictionary by Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J. CONTRACEPTION. Deliberate interference with marital intercourse in order to prevent conception. It is the performance of the marriage act with the positive frustration of conception. Also called conjugal onanism, from the sin of Onan, referred to in the Bible (Genesis 38:8-10); Neo-Malthusianism from the name of the English sociologist Malthus (1766-1834); it is popularly termed birth control, where those concerned with high birthrates have come to equate contraception with population control. The Catholic Church has forbidden contraception from earliest times, and the number of papal statements dealing with the subject indicates the Church's constant tradition. In modern times the most significant document was Humanae Vitae in 1968 by Paul VI. After referring to the long history of the Church's teaching, he declared that the "direct interruption of the generative process already begun," even though done for therapeutic reasons, is to be "absolutely excluded as a licit means of regulating birth." Equally to be excluded is direct sterilization for contraceptive reasons. "Similarly excluded is every action that, either in anticipation of the conjugal act, or in its accomplishment, or in the development of its natural consequences, purposes, whether as an end or as a means, to render procreation impossible" (Humanae Vitae, II, 14). Few aspects of Christian morality in modern times have given rise to more difficulties of conscience than the Catholic doctrine on contraception. This was reflected in Paul's admission, shortly after Humanae Vitae: "How many times we have trembled before the alternatives of an easy condescension to current opinions." One of the results of the Church's teaching on contraception has been to emphasize her right to teach the faithful, even to binding them gravely in conscience, in matters that pertain to the natural law. Yet the basic motivation offered to married people to live up to this difficult teaching is highly supernatural, namely the prospect of loving one another in such a way that they will share the fruits of their affection with another person whom their mutual love will bring into being.
BUMP RIGHT ON THE MONEY PADRAIG!! IN FACT IT RELATES TO THIS VERSE OF SCRIPTURES And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.
