Francis did not ban the Latin Mass and from what I can tell, his predecessors actually set up a lot of what has been followed through, it's up to the Bishop at the least to act. In 2018, Scalfari wrote an article related to his interview with Pope Francis stating that the pontiff made claims that hell did not exist. Scalfari later admitted that some words attributed to the pontiff "were not shared by Pope Francis" himself. Later in 2019, he wrote a further article related to Pope Francis, claiming that the pope "rejects the godly nature of Jesus Christ". This was denied by the Holy See, which said that "as already stated on other occasions, the words that Dr. Eugenio Scalfari attributes in quotation marks to the Holy Father during talks with him cannot be considered a faithful account of what was actually said but represent a personal and free interpretation of what he heard, as appears completely evident from what is written today regarding the divinity of Jesus Christ".[8] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eugenio_Scalfari#Notable_reporting Letter of the Holy Father to the Italian journalist Dr Eugenio Scalfari (11 September 2013) | Francis (vatican.va)
what he has done is at least a long-term suppression as he forbids the emergence of new groups celebrating the Tridentine Mass; as for Scalfari, the Pope never made any statement denying the journalist; he also did not use any recording devices of the interview * (which would nullify any distortions in the conversation) and finally met with him again after the controversial interview in which it was stated that the Pope denied the immortality of the soul.
Bishops are given a Staff to show that they protect the sheep, so that if snakes and wolves come along they kill and chase them away. They don't, 'accompany ', them, they wipe them out. Pope Francis is simply not doing this. In the case of the German heretic Bishops for instance A Shepherd who does not protect his flock is false and useless.
He does however attack and wipe out those who attend the Ancient Liturgy . So the good sheep get whacked and the bad shepherds get away with every kind of abomination.
By continuing to hold these apparently non-minuted meetings with Scalfari, is Pope Francis, at best, not complicit with the creation of great confusion among the faithful? It is the unfortunate reality that controversial allegations of papal statements tend to make front-page headlines, while any post facto refutations rarely do.
There is one thing I would say about this discussion though. I am fine with people thinking, for some extraordinary reason that I can't fathom, that Pope Francis is wonderful and that there is not a thing wrong with him. I am fine with that and people who think like that are allowed quite freely to post to that effect on the Forum. Perhaps indeed they are right and the millions and millions of good faithful Catholics like myself who have the most severe reservations about his Pontificate are wrong. I am fine with that too. It would not be the first time I was wrong and I am sure it won't be the last. But what I do object to is terms like , 'Heretic' and bad Catholic being thrown in my direction. I assume that folks who sincerely think Pope Francis is fine have their own good reasons. I don't for a moment suppose them to be heretical or coming from a bad place. I just wish that people on this thread who like Pope Francis would extend to me the same courtesy and charity to me and people like me. Or to put it more simply, I wish they would get down of their high horse. I am just looking at a few descriptive phrases here,' 'bad mouth' 'heresy' 'attacking. 'doing the work of the devil' 'lies and distortions' 'manipulate the truth' 'Spirit of Rebellion from Satan' 'Insulting the Pope while pretending to be Catholic' 'Not Catholic they are from Satan' 'Trick us into hating the Pope' 'Infiltrated be the devil' I am a patient man, or at least I try to be. But I grow a little tired of the personal insults. I try to be a Christian but I am no one's doormat. Stop with the name calling insults. Stop it and stop it right now..
That's true. But "to whom much is given, much will be required." A person as powerful and visible as the Pope, if he knowingly acts against God, will have an especially unpleasant Judgment Day if that verse is any indication. Also, if I act against God, it impacts few people. Still wrong of course, but if the Pope does ... it affects millions and millions of people.
Francis is just doing his pastoral duties, it may well be dialogue, I know it is not in encyclical, so Pope Francis can join Padre Pio, Joan of Arc and dozens of others who have had negative things said about them in the Church itself, there is nothing new under the sun. We will see in the long run. I think he's a very holy man myself.
Dozens and dozens have have had negative things said about them. Like Martin Luther. About whom the Church and many of her saints and Popes , in his opinion appear to have been gravely mistaken. Pope Francis however appears to have thought him the best thing since sliced bread. Wow! Way up there with Padre Pio and St Joan of Arc! Wow!! What did he do to deserve this, I wonder? Tell me, do. Fascinating. Anymore miracles to report? I await in amazement. Bilocation? The stigmata? Heavenly perfumes? Bathed in heavenly light? Maybe flying through the air over the heads of an astonished Swiss Guard? What a great saint, and not even dead yet!! What astonishing mystical events. , tell me do. How or how have I missed all this? How oh how have I so misjudged him? Up there with Padre Pio and St Joan of Arc? Wow! Wow! Wow!! Where can I book my next ticket to Rome to see him? Does he work miracles all the time or, only at weekends? I would be so excited to see one. Do you think if I were to pray to him he might fly through the air to Ireland to see me?
What about Pachamama was she a saint too? Would she work a miracle for me if I asked her? She does look a bit odd, but if Pope Francis is a saint and works miracles, it must be alright, if a saint like him says so? Or is she better than than a saint? A Goddess maybe? Does she work miracles like Pope Francis too?
Agree. I include him in every Rosary along with "every priest bishop Cardinal and all consecrated souls"
I believe we do have a living saint in the Vatican in Pope Emeritus Benedict. He is ascending nearer to the summit of Calvery daily. He is filled with love and compassion and forgiveness. He is the living example of how we should aspire to live in these difficult times. He never shirks from speaking the truth with love and humility. As I've said a true living saint.
