Kaine, Kerry, Kennedy, Pilosi not Roman Catholics. They are American Catholics...which is not Catholic at all. Those of us that understand the faith... know those people are lost. I think Kaine gave up on his beliefs to become candidate...might be greater sin then the evil of Hillary .

It doesn't take Charlie to tell us.

The woman who had gender re-assigment surgery is still a woman despite having surgery. Her birth certificate is proof that she is female. Just because she feels like a male does not make her a man.

Just because someone feels that they are a cat does not make them a cat.

Whatever happened to the "who am I to judge" pope. Talk about hypocrisy:

"A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian," Francis told reporters in response to a specific question about the presidential candidate, according to Reuters' account. "This is not in the gospel."

No Pope, as far as I know of, in the history of the United Staes of America has ever involved himself in a Presidential Deabte.

Why has no Poep ever involved himself in a Presidential Debate? Well I suppose a horse could tell you taht, because getting mixed up in the eternal politlcal elcection of a country can only mire a Pope as Spiritual Father and the Church herself in a partisan political struggle which can only harm both his own posrition as indenpendant Pontiff and the spiritual Father of American Catholics. No Pope has ever gottten bogged down in such a thing because it would bne plain all out stupid for a Pope to do so.

This present Pontiff has made several comments and placed himself right up to the top of his head in this purely internal politcial struggle. If all the past Popes thought it was seriously stupid to get involved then why in the name of all that's holy.......?

I'm not an Americna so even I as a foreigner don;t like to dip my feet in too much. But for a Pope to wade in and keep wading in .. well it would make a horse laugh, or cry.. There's just no percentage in it either for the Papacy or for the Church; its just plumb crazy.

This is not about theology, its just plain ,simple, common sense.

Ok tell me, 'You can't talk like that about a Pope!'

Well there you I just did. Its crazy. The thing is if he lacks the sense a ten year old kid would have in this regard were else is he going off the rails? Think about the harm he's doing with this off the cuff stuff about things he's far better keeping quiet about; the immense harm he has done.

But if he thinks about something he just has to come right out and say it right away.. Does not matter about what, he has an opinion on everything and anything ; always ready to share it with an often horrified world. You name it from Gloabl Warming to Transvestites, from Donald Trump to Islamic immigrants, Pope Francis always has the million dollar answer.

He'd be a great guy to have a drink with , heavily opinionated folks often are; but he should not be let within a billion miles of a news reporter.

I would have the Swiss Guard use heavy machine guns on any reporters tried to get within a hundred years of the guy. That should stop a lot of the damage.

Richard has just denounced the Pope for NOT getting involved:

"Pope Francis dodges the question and says, "vote your conscience" which liberal "Catholics" will interpret as permission to vote for Hillary. Pope Francis had a DUTY to answer this reporter's question on an issue concerning Faith and Morals in a clear and unambiguous manner and he failed to do so."

I think in these trying times where our society has believed to be God by creating humans and changing humans, it's appropriate for a Pope to announce the evil behind these atrocities. And if a Pope can't come out and say, if you vote for a pro choice platform it is a mortal sin, then what good is that rock of guidance for?

Now to mention the wall as unchristian was definitely politicizing. And that was a crying shame.

Oh, but Pope Francis did involve himself directly in the American Presidential race when he said that Trump was unchristian for wanting to build a wall (Vatican has a big wall by the way). Which is why I started this thread: why is Pope Francis now being so coy over a political question involving faith and morals with souls and lives at stake, when he clearly has a prior record of injecting himself into politics?

The Pope can make general moral points such as the inequality of society, right to life and so on.Though I think so close to an election he should leve things to the American Bishops themselves. Every toerhr Pope did this and used the brains God gifted them with. Simple prudence and common sense. . But wading in on a specific issue like the propeosed Mexican wall is partisan and insane. It is nuts. A chidl would tell you this.

No other Pope has ever crazed out like this before so close to a US election and I pray on my knees to God none ever will again. Thinking about consequences of runnning off at the mouth seems to be just something he does not even begin to think about.

If he thinks of somet hing out it comes. Pop. Pop. Pop. To hell with the consequences, he just HAS TO SAY IT, NO MATTER WHAT.

There is most certianly a screw loose there somewhere. Very loose. Very big screw.

    I agree, Padraig, these in-flight Q&A's are a scandal.

Scandalous indeed. I thought that things would improve when the guy from Opus Dei took over from Fr. Lombardi, but it looks like even Our Lord Himself would have problems keeping Pope Francis from speaking out of both sides of his mouth.

Best, Richard, to pray for the Pope. Pray, especially, for the Church because Pope Francis also talked in that interview about appointing Cardinals - I think he said as many as thirteen - all of whom will have a say in choosing his successor. God help us.

The reality seems to be that not many pay much attention to what Pope Francis says. Excess leads to apathy.

Just finished watching the VP debate. "Catholic" Tim Kaine gave public scandal by supporting Roe v. Wade and Abortion in front of a national audience. Maybe Kaine's Bishop or Pope Francis could issue a public statement stressing that Tim Kaine does not follow Church teaching and has just excommunicated himself latae sententiae. Pope Francis could use it as a golden opportunity to educate the country and the world. I won't hold my breath.

No chance - he will probably get a round of applause the next time he attends his local parish Mass.

Welcome to the all inclusive Catholic Church where you can believe anything you want, contradict Church teaching in your words and lifestyle, blatantly disregard the teachings of Christ all in the name of 'pastoral accompaniment'.

    Just like the Anglicans.
