Oh dear, I don't think I accused you of being a fanatic, Brian. It is coincidental that you self-identify as one.

    Yes I'm a Medjugorje fan.

    Bless you.

The Pope should be warning us of the dangers of those who push the climate change agenda.
Not add his voice to their rubbish. The world applauds and loves him for it. Nobel Peace Prize winner?

If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

He - Jesus - is talking about those who leave this world behind in pursuit of His - and therefore not of this
world. Pious souls. It does not mean that we should topple, trample God's footstool underneath.
Remember: Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Respect therefore all things of God.

    Surely this is simple elementary.

    God bless!

Well at least you are not betraying him with a kiss, Mac. At least you are straight up in your opinion even though I disagree with you and my perspective is entirely different to yours. In Genesis we were told to take care of the world. Those who do not are disobedient to God. And that is where all our problems started. Pope Francis refreshes our understanding of the connection between obedience and love in this encyclical. Creation is an expression of God's love and we are desecrating it though sin.

    Eamon,

Global Warming is NOT really happening. Just like with macro evolution, there is much scientific evidence against it. It is junk science being used to promote a liberal agenda. I have a background in science (biology).

    Gang,

I think this encyclical has just become a Big Distraction for all of us here .. including me .. ;-( In a short time, I expect that we will have much larger worries ... if we don't already! When we think of this distraction (& others) it will be to admonish ourselves for wasting time that could have been put to far better uses!

    GOD SAVE ALL HERE!!

With someone with a scientific background i think you of all people should have an open mind to what is happening until all the evidence has been look at. Just look at what is happening to the Bee populations not only in America but throughout the World they are being devastated by the weather with wetter colder Autumn's and colder wetter Springs. What would happen if there was no Bees to pollinate the farmers crops which could very well happen according to the present decrease in Bee population in America. Refusing to keep all your options on the table at this stage when the jury is still out is very short sighted and unscientific

Mark Mallett came out with a blog today and said this: "And so, is this new encyclical a trumpet blast, a warning that we are approaching the moment when creation is going to return in anger the greed, abuse, and neglect that we have wreaked upon nature? And does that not begin with the very pinnacle of creation, man himself"? One should read the rest and if you can donate to his ministry http://www.markmallett.com/blog/listening-to-christ/#more-19838

This is similar to what I wrote on the MOG several weeks ago. Somehow, I have felt this encyclical is about the earth rebelling against, not just sinful mankind, but our very casualness and indifference in how we care for it at times. The industrial revolution and now the pending real threat of global nuclear holocaust will nearly destroy what God created and said it was good. I am far from Al Gore and the big liberal/progressive view and lets not kid our self, big libs could care less about the earth, unless they see an opportunity to exploit it for power and money. However, we need to take out of this encyclical what we can and at the very least pray about it before we criticize the whole works.

At risk of being a bore I forgot to say that I am not embarrassed and am proud of our Holy Father. In His encyclical he is not aligning himself with anyone except the poor and defenseless. Modern psychology talks about "owning your process" or being responsible for your own thoughts feelings and actions, taking ownership of them. Ultimately our own salvation is in our own hands. All that is needed is the proper response, our fiat. I believe we are our brothers keepers, we are responsible for the well being of others, especially where they been prevented from exercising their own responsibility.
Now just because some people use this encyclical to promote their own agenda it does not mean that Pope Francis supports those elements and their lobbies where their beliefs contradict Catholic teaching. Indeed the opposite is true and this truth is evident in every word the Pope speaks if taken properly. One of the oft forgotten statements of the Pope was that though he refused to condemn those who had homosexual orientation and who were genuinely trying to and seek God's will in their lives he also categorically said he did not support the homosexual lobby. The media and opponents of Pope Francis, of course, tired to say he did.
Neither is it true to say that this encyclical is loved by the world. It is hugely opposed by industry and big business both of which render the average citizen powerless and vulnerable and the poor totally disenfranchised from any say in the matter.

Also because he did not "name names" I had the opinion he was referencing HAARP and gmo seeds . . .

    Hi Mac
As blind Charlie used to say "have it your way" only he was talking to God.
We won't agree on this one and I suspect your intellect is greater than mine. Not so sure about your vision:confused:

  16. Mac

    Mac "To Jesus, through Mary"

I doubt that ,about the intellect. And I dont have any vision for the future . Just believe things arent good and not likely to get any better without Divine intervention , no matter how many trees I hug.

I don't have the stomach for hugging trees....it's too big and I couldn't get my arms around them. As for the rest of your comment I agree with you 100%.

Earth 'entering new extinction phase' - US study

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-33209548

The Earth has entered a new period of extinction, a study by three US universities has concluded, and humans could be among the first casualties.

The report, led by the universities of Stanford, Princeton and Berkeley, said vertebrates were disappearing at a rate 114 times faster than normal.

The findings echo those in a report published by Duke University last year.

One of the new study's authors said: "We are now entering the sixth great mass extinction event."

The last such event was 65 million years ago, when dinosaurs were wiped out, in all likelihood by a large meteor hitting Earth.

"If it is allowed to continue, life would take many millions of years to recover and our species itself would likely disappear early on," said the lead author, Gerardo Ceballos.

Pollination by bees could disappear within three generations, the report warns

The scientists looked at historic rates of extinction for vertebrates - animals with backbones - by assessing fossil records.

They found that the current extinction rate was more than 100 times higher than in periods when Earth was not going through a mass extinction event.

Since 1900, the report says, more than 400 more vertebrates had disappeared.

Such a loss would normally be seen over a period of up to 10,000 years, the scientists say.

The study - published in the Science Advances journal - cites causes such as climate change, pollution and deforestation.

Given the knock-on effect of ecosystems being destroyed, the report says benefits such as pollination by bees could be lost within three human generations.

I agree much of it does hit the mark. I haven't read the entire thing yet but will. I am neither liberal or conservative, I totally disagree with political labels like this in an attempt to call one good and the other bad. The truth goes way beyond this narrative.

If you want to really understand the history of political global warming creation from the beginning please take and hour and 15 min and watch The Great Global Warming Swindle. This doc is time well spend to really see and understand the side the politicians, corporation and media don't want you to know.

I am not doing this to divide people, I search for truth only and this isn't a slight to the Pope, he is the number 1, God chosen leader and I love that guy.

I held my breath this morning to reduce my carbon footprint but that was all I could muster today.

For myself, I don't understand why so much time was taken by Pope Francis to write this encyclical when so many souls have gone astray,..it does seem like a "big distraction" when our focus should be on our heavenly home. We should all respect God's creation,..but I'm not holding my breath. :X3:
