Yeah , I don't doubt this is an evil Satanic conspiracy that goes to the very top in the Vatican. The Church has never seen an attack on this scale in its whole 2,000 year history. It's a very,very successful take over. Thus far that is.
In the Middle Ages, no one could read or understand the priest. The land was governed by the sword (blood). That could have been their great apostasy. "Believe or I will cut off your head." As bad as we think it is. There has been other generations with the same problems. My opinion is the great apostasy will take place when Jesus is removed from the cross and the Holy Eucharist is outlawed. That will be the apostasy. Holy Eucharist to divorced might be spiritual issue but it's not the apostasy. But then again, I am just a one tiny grain of sand.
It sounds like you are attacking me rather than defending our misguided pope. Angry and rigid, have you heard of the constant attacks from the pope against trads. How about his purging of the vatican of trads and only elevating left-wing prelates as cardinals. That is angry and rigid. I call it the "Francis effect". St. Paul teaches us in 2 Thessalonians 2:15 : "So then, brothers, stand firm, and cling to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by our letter. " Pope Francis is kicking out the legs of catholicism, that is tradition. I agree with on one thing you said: "We are in free fall, too many bad turns have been taken, so we must fall until we hit bottom and crack open. " This is what I call "the Francis effect". Pope Benedict is right, the church will become much smaller and more faithful unless God intervenes. Who is like God. Thy will be done. Jesus, I trust in you.
People in the Middle Ages couldn't read but they did understand the priest. There was no great apostasy in the Middle Ages. No shortage of sin but not great apostasy. Apostasy doesn't happen overnight. It's a gradual process, beginning with little compromises and growing from there. The great apostasy didn't start with Pope Francis but, rather than stemming the tide, he is hastening its climax. Sin nailed Jesus to the cross and His sacrifice is demeaned with every downplaying of the gravity of sin. We are approaching the stage where sin will be determined by the prevailing culture. The Bible warns about sins of the flesh. The Church has always treated such sins as a threat to our salvation. Now, not so much. Lack of faith in the preaching of the likes of John Bongaarts and Paul Erhlich are being portrayed as more serious sins than adultery, fornication or sodomy. Jesus is being removed from the cross. In many ways, He has already been removed. Holy Eucharist being the source and summit of our faith, any diminution of the gravity of profaning it, or adopting a casual approach to it, is more than a little spiritual issue. It is a giant leap on the road to the apostasy where faith in the Real Presence will be so weak that people will be easily deceived into believing that it is merely bread and wine, at most a symbol of feelgood friendship - a rug covering the real differences that cause discomfort. There are very many Christians who already lack belief in the Real Presence, far too many of them in the Catholic Church who treat Holy Communion as an entitlement rather than a privilege. Abolishing a symbol won't be a hard sell for the Man of Sin.
You are right here Dolours, Apostasy doesn't just appear overnight. I think in the long view it started back with Martin Luther who spread the ideas of modern liberalism and rebellion against lawful authority 500 years ago. In the Church it truly began in earnest in the late 1800's and early 1900's. We see the Popes warning about the spreading "modernist thought" in the Church at this time. Then in the 1960's and 1970's modernism really came out of the shadows inside the Church, but still it tried to hide behind a cloak of orthodoxy. Today we are standing at another huge turning point where worldly modernist thought is being enshrined as "Church policy". Have we reached the summit or is there still farther to go? Who knows? Malachi Martin said in the 1990's that it surely couldn't go on for long the way things were going in the Church. That was 20 years ago. If someone from today could have talked with him back then we might have said: "You ain't seen nothin' yet."
It is not just prophecy that is saying this. If anyone has been paying attention to the popes and the saints in the last 100 years, they too have been saying we are in the end times. That is a good point Fatima. There has been so much warning of what is going on now I neglected to mention the many, many warnings from the Popes of the last 150 years or so. Mark, you apparently have never heard of the False Prophet that comes on the scene in the end times and works in cahoots with the Antichrist to deceive if possible, even the elect. Yes, even the sacrifice of the mass will be changed and we will have a protestant version of liturgy. If you do not understand this my friend you are living in Blindville and not discerning the signs of the times that so many prophecies (approved and alleged), popes and even the Catholic Catechism have warned us of. In the story the prodigal son repents and "converts". Please, somebody tell Pope Francis that repentant is the key to this story. Who among us would be upset if the father/God answered their prayers? This pope keeps barking up the wrong tree. At one point for a period of over 10 years I was ready to risk life and limb for "the church". But not anymore. It's called the "Francis effect". Any person who is against me is being led by the spirit of antichrist and is an antichrist. If you deny that I am the Christ who came in the flesh, you are led by the spirit of antichrist and are an antichrist. Simply stated: antichrist is anti or against the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. A person led by the spirit of antichrist becomes an antichrist. Pay close attention to the words of your Popes. Both of your last Popes have stated you are in the battle of Apocalypse 12 between the woman and the dragon. The woman can have several meanings. It is both my church and my blessed Mother who are fighting against the dragon, who is Satan. The third part of the stars of heaven who are cast to the earth, represents the clergy, cardinals, bishops, and priests, who are following the dragon. Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI have warned the faithful, not to be seduced by the dragon. Another spiritual meaning from this passage refers to the great battle which is taking place between the woman and the red dragon of masonry and communism. My Holy Spirit will identify these men at the proper time, not your time. For when you falsely accuse another soul of being either the False Prophet or the Antichrist, you offend your God. All those falsely accused are souls that need my salvation. Pray for their salvation. It is your fear and lack of trust in me, which causes you to falsely accuse someone. Watch and be ready. Read accurately the signs of the times. Great changes are upon mankind. My church and earth will be purified and mankind will truly know I am Jesus Christ who once came in the flesh and who is the only Savior and redeemer of mankind. All who reject me are following the spirit of antichrist and will be cast into hell forever. Do not let this be your final destination. Do not be deceived, I will not be mocked much longer. For all his shortcomings, Pope Francis is not the False Prophet from the Book of Revelation, and I believe it to be very dangerous for anyone, especially any Catholic, to infer that he is.
