I goofed. It's the 44 minute mark that he starts. They skip around but its mostly there.
Well I just scrolled through it. It's not the interview I originally heard where he was refused by a these orders. I'll keep looking.

I found a better interview. The site is Yes Catholic. "Father Dan Reehill journey from Wall Street to the priesthood"
This is the one you want!!!

Ok, these are nice things but they aren't specific and your brother really really needs to figure this out. Franciscans for example like to follow the gospel, that's pretty much it so there is a lot of room for movement there. But the capuchins are more traditional where as the conventuals are more progressive, and OFM is middle of the road. Then there are the grey hooded friars of the capuchins of the renewal, Fr. Groschels order that appears to be quite traditional.

Some orders focus on spirituality, so this is where Carmelites might be a good fit. Augustinians focus on the sacraments and intellect. Benedictines focus on spirituality as well, but it is different from that of the Carmelites. Even within the Benedictines there are different flavors. Dominicans are amazing too if that is your thing.

My understanding is that FSSP is not an order but a fraternity you enroll in. So your brother could likely join an order, and then eventually enroll in the FSSP. But it is good to know that he doesn't want to join a dying order. But he needs to know what he wants first. Some guys in these fraternities end up literally hating each other and everyone else, likely because they didn't know in advance what they wanted but got stuck after 20 years.

There are other things too which might help with selection. Is your brother very social and likes to speak in front of crowds, if not certain orders might not be for him whereas others might be better. He needs to know what gifts he has so he can apply them, otherwise he can burn out. Does he prefer silence or does this drive him crazy. Does he prefer to have his head in a book for leisure time or does he prefer a stiff drink and good company? This could be the difference between being a secular priest or being in an order.

He may want to set up a meeting or write to his Bishop also to seek assistance.

Of course I will pray for this and ask for Our Mother’s assistance as well as St John Vianny and Saint Faustina.

I love St John Vianny - I really never heard of him by that name only by the Cure of Ars. Once when I was extremely ill a few years ago and really thought I wasn’t going to make it - I prayed that a priest be sent to me to give me the sacrament of the sick. That night I had a dream that a priest came to me and gave me a blessing and told me to be patient and accept my suffering as a gift to God and I would make it through. I asked him his name and he said John. I thought John the Apostle and he laughed and said no and then left. I described the dream to my priest and he said “that’s St John Vianny the priest of priests. God answered your prayers in the best possible way! “ Since then I’ve had a tender devotion to him.

On my beads this morning. It this is God's Will for him he will find it.

This is the Feast Day of Padre Pio so I will pray to him. There are some truly wonderful stories of Padre Pio helping people with their vocations.

    I understand that "he's looking for a rigorous, growing, traditional-leaning order." However, there's no harm in checking out the Companions of the Cross (CC) (https://companionscross.org/), as AED suggested, and attending their online discernment series: (https://stmarysottawa.ca/news/;

    “Priesthood Discernment Nights
Are you a man 18–35 curious about the priesthood? Join Fr. Alex Colautti, CC, and the Companions of the Cross for a monthly online discernment series in a friendly, no-pressure environment where you can hear others’ journeys, learn practical tools for discernment, and ask your questions. The series meets every second Tuesday at 7:00 PM ET on Zoom. To register, simply reply to this email—we’re praying for you!” (https://companionscross.org/vocations/)

Watch their documentary celebrating their 40th anniversary: https://www.permissionthefilm.com/payitforward

The CC priests are faithful to Christ’s teachings and on fire with the Holy Spirit. Their charism: “Living for an Explosively Alive Church.”

“I love the Church. I call it the ‘sleeping giant’. Once we begin to rediscover what it means to evangelize and to undertake a large-scale revival of this ministry, I see the Church waking up and coming explosively alive to the point where it, with the power of the Holy Spirit, will shake the earth and the nations with its dynamic presence.” (Fr. Bob Bedard, CC Founder)

CC priests are assigned to some dioceses in Canada, with some ministry in the US as well. They recently launched an experimental initiative, called “church planting in the Catholic context”, starting in Montreal (https://companionscross.org/were-going-to-montreal/):

“Church planting is all about Mission. Here’s how it works: a thriving parish partners with a struggling parish. A pastor and ~20-30 missionaries from the thriving parish go on mission to the struggling parish with the goal of turning the struggling parish into an explosively alive parish.”

St. Mary’s parish in Ottawa, Canada (led by Fr. Mark Goring as its pastor) and its parishioners are currently implementing their three-year revival program. It has many components, including street ministry in the local community. It is also demonstrated in their warm welcome of people who attend Mass in their church for the first time and their integration of newcomers who decide to join the parish. Most importantly, they show reverence for our Lord Jesus by having a communion rail for parishioners who want to receive the Eucharist on the tongue and on their knees. They incorporate some Latin hymns in the Mass. At the end of the Mass, their prayer team members lay hands on people who need healing. These are just a few examples of the parishioners’ active involvement in various ministries. Hopefully, St. Mary’s will serve as a model for lukewarm and dying parishes.

I am very impressed with them. I have even "adopted" a seminarian.
