Please pray for Earl

Discussion in 'Prayer requests' started by mothersuperior7, Jan 5, 2014.

  1. Please, please, please, lift up in prayer a man named Earl. He is elderly, lonely, disabled and sometimes confused. He is holy, desires only to talk about God and has been abandoned by those who are suppose to love him. He has to make some decisions and I desperately want to help him, but I have to tread carefully. Pray for him. Send him angels. Fear is very real for him right now. Help him make wise decisions. Help him let go of all his worldly things and trust. He trusts me but I am 10 hours away and he will not get help otherwise.
    Thank you!!--marti

A reading from St. Luke’s Gospel (1:39-56):During those days Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”
And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him. He has shown might with his arm, dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart. He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly. The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped Israel his servant, remembering his mercy, according to his promise to our fathers, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.”
Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.

Earl is not alone. So many elderly, infirm, abandoned by their families!

Please pray for Ray - I met him today. He's dying in the hospital, and he is the caregiver of his 98 year old mother. Ray's brother and sister are refusing to take over her care.

Lord, have mercy on those who will not honor their mothers and fathers!

  8. Kathy, I was speaking to my friend who is a nurse, but she does not work. She has taken care of her MIL or her mother on and off. She was just telling me that there are so many people who are having terrible trouble with loved ones and being taken care of. The time and effort and expense is all too daunting. Surely the social services will allow a guardian to get POA and take care of her won't they??

Yes, there are a lot of options. She'll probably go into a nursing home.

What makes me so sad is the abandonment issue. Even if you can't take care of your parents yourself, there is no need to abandon them. More than once I've called children to tell them their parent is dying, and was told, "Call me when he's dead."
