As of today, the entire conference of Texas bishops is uniting with Pope Francis in the Consecration. C'mon, USCCB!
I thought it might be a good time to post the prayer by Bishop Schneider which has been said for some months now, petitioning Blessed Mother to obtain the grace for the Pope to make the Consecration of Russia to Immaculate Heart of Mary. Just one example of the prayers that are quietly being offered for this GREAT GRACE AND BLESSING. Maybe we could join in and make this prayer our own as we wait for Friday 25th March 2022. O Immaculate Heart of Mary, you are the holy Mother of God and our tender Mother. Look upon the distress in which the Church and the whole of humanity are living because of the spread of materialism and the persecution of the Church. In Fatima, you warned against these errors, as you spoke about the errors of Russia. You are the Mediatrix of all graces. Implore your Divine Son to grant this special grace for the Pope: that he might consecrate Russia to your Immaculate Heart, so that Russia will be converted, a period of peace will be granted to the world, and your Immaculate Heart will triumph, through an authentic renewal of the Church in the splendour of the purity of the Catholic Faith, of the sacredness of Divine worship and of the holiness of the Christian life. O Queen of the Holy Rosary and our sweet Mother, turn your merciful eyes to us and graciously hear this our trusting prayer. Amen.
Thanks Julia. Thats the prayer I'm praying daily as a Novena leading up to this Friday's Consecration.
Bishop Barres from the Diocese of Rockville Centre, NY is holding a Mass at St Agnes at 12:10 pm with the Consecration following!!! Then Friday night, Bishop Andrej is holding a Holy Hour. I was so happy when I found this on their website. I’m going to go to it.
Thank you for letting us know Rosalia. This is my diocese also. You probably are aware that they televise daily mass on the CFaithNet network (FIOS channel 296). I have seen Bishop Andrzej celebrate mass on this network and he is wonderful imo. Thank you again. PS- I looked for something like this on their website @2 days ago but I couldn't find it at that time.
Great news from Archdiocese of New York! post from Cardinal Dolan… Might I give you an update on a few things? I promise to be brief. This Friday, March 25th, the Feast of the Annunciation, our Holy Father will be consecrating and entrusting Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary at 5:00 p.m. Rome time. I will be joining in that consecration from Saint Patrick’s Cathedral immediately prior to the Noon Mass. If you can’t be there in person, you can follow the livestream on the Cathedral website here. A copy of the prayer of consecration follows. The following auxiliary bishops of the archdiocese will also recite the prayer of consecration in their home parishes at Noon. Bishop Dominick Lagonegro - Saint Columba, Hopewell Junction Bishop John O’Hara – Saint Charles, Staten Island Bishop John Bonnici - Saints John and Paul, Larchmont Bishop Peter Byrne - Saint Anselm, Bronx The consecration in the Cathedral will take place before the Ukrainian Cross which has been residing in the Cathedral for the last two weeks. This special cross, which has travelled around the world, has become a symbol of hope and trust in the Lord during this time of unspeakable horror and tragedy that has been unfolding in Ukraine. If you’re by the Cathedral in the next few days, please stop in to visit the cross and say a prayer for the suffering people in Ukraine.
Sam, I checked the Boston diocesan site today, as well as Cardinal O'Malley 's Twitter feed, and there is still no notification about the Consecration. Hopefully the announcement is just delayed. I live on the Cape so I am in a different diocese, but I was pleased to know that our bishop will participate on Friday. Praise Jesus.
I’m sure many local diocese will live stream and perhaps EWTN will carry the consecration live in case you cannot get to your own Church . Just in case you cannot find anything, I’m including link here to live stream from St Patrick’s Cathedral in NY. It takes place just before the 12 noon (EDT) Mass https://saintpatrickscathedral.org/live
Here in New Zealand, we are at or near the peak of the pandemic of mainly Omicron BA 1 and BA 2 variants. It is at the point now where some in my family and freinds have the virus and are sick at home or isolating with sick family. I am living in a separate part of the house from other family, so that I can just go to work with vulnerable people and keep myself Covid Free, for now... Until this point, it has been a tough 2 years for our country of warding it off. Thankfully we are now dealing with a different strain than the original or Alpha or Delta. We currently have tough restrictions on numbers gathering in public, so our Bishops have asked that anytime from 7 am to 7pm this Friday, we make visits to local Catholic churches to pray the Rosary. The NZ Bishops have said they will be at their Cathedrals Friday, also praying the Rosary. As we are ahead, time wise, our prayers will be a kind of lead up to the actual moment of Consecration. It will be Saturday morning 26th March at 6.30am our time / local time when the actual Consecration will be taking place in Rome. So I"ve taken Saturday off work, I will be up early, trying to join live with Rome. Its hard to believe it is really happening! I think I was about 33 years old when I first learned of Fatima. I am now 60, and have awaited this event for 27 years. I have been blessed to visit Fatima twice since then, and it has been a huge desire in my heart to see this come to fruition.
I will pray for your friends and family with Covid. Good for you for trying to stay well. This disease comes in waves. May this be the final wave for the world for this hideous plague. I did not know you had been to Fatima. That is wonderful. I hope and pray you get to join with Rome live, as you desire. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
I think that Rebekah pulled a fast one on Isaac. Jacob was her favourite, probably because he was better than Esau but choosing Jacob over Esau wasn't her call. If she considered Esau unworthy of the blessing, she should have told Isaac and let him decide. For all we know, she could have tried unsuccessfully to persuade Isaac to give the blessing to Esau. Isaac was blind but there's nothing to suggest that old age had affected his mental ability. Rebekah and Jacob deceived Isaac. God doesn't will anyone to lie or cheat, so it must have happened through God's permissive rather than active will. Father Kirby covers that part of Genesis very well in his bible study. He read a heartwarming interpretation of the reconciliation between Jacob and Esau written by a Jewish Rabbi. In Isaac's time, the father (Isaac) was the earthly authority and the custom was that the blessing go to the first born son. I think that the first born was only passed over if he had committed some grave sin - the kind of sin that couldn't be hidden from a blind person. In our time, the custom is for the College of Cardinals rather than the dying or retiring incumbent to choose a successor and the investiture ceremony is probably the equivalent of the blessing. So God's respect for our free will permits man to choose the leader. Once chosen, acknowledged and installed, that leader (Pope) has the blessing and no man has the right to rescind it. That's how I understand it but I'm no expert. Yes, there are parallels between Our Lord's time on earth and our time. They will increase as the Church approaches the time of her passion but there have been times in the past when the passion appeared to be upon us and didn't materialise. This could be one of those times. The final time is known only to God. After Friday's consecration it may become clearer whether the bad times will intensify or whether God will grant us another reprieve. I'm optimistic that there will be a reprieve. Not so optimistic that we won't squander it yet again.
The restrictions have been lifted here. Omicron is spreading like wildfire. A number of my relatives have it but it's not making them seriously ill, thanks be to God. There's no indication that nearby parishes will arrange anything for the consecration so, like you, I will visit my parish church and pray at the same time as the Holy Father. I wonder will the Bishops in China do the consecration.
Thank you ! Please pray for my oldest and best freind, Gabrielle, who now has Covid. We have known each other since we were teenagers. She lives alone. Her daughter (Sophie) and grandchildren also have it. My neice Ellen, her husband Rob and their baby Arthur all have it. Prayers much appreciated for New Zealand as we go through the next 3 weeks or so of peak stress on our communities and hospitals.
