I just wanted to understand the reason behind this lack of transparency in their communication with the general public. Are they afraid that people might grow weaker in their faith when they see their spiritual leader falling ill? Since yesterday, I’ve seen many foolish and blasphemous comments on social media questioning why the Pope wouldn’t turn to prayer for healing instead of seeking medical treatment.

Perhaps the Vatican fears that such deeply disrespectful objections might start popping up everywhere?

If we read the life stories of various saints, such as St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus and St. Faustina, we find little reason to believe that holiness and communion with God necessarily go hand in hand with robust health.

That is quite true, in fact the saints were often in ill health even from childhood. Mother Angelica was a good example.

Anyway how do they know that the Pope is not praying for healing? He has millions praying for him.

I am sorry people are saying such nasty things. It is a consequence of the Church turning into what appears to some kind of political party.

People as a rule these days are nasty. They are not accountable. There will come the reckoning.

The thing about the internet is we can post things without consequences. We type something and press a button and it is gone. It is very, very easy. But thousands and thousands of people may read what we have posted and it is kind of gone to the wind and we cannot call it back.

I hope God will make allowances but it is not good.

There used to be groups of people who stood outside my old Church at home and it made me more than a little nervous. They stood for the longest times. I think they were talking about events in the Church. As St James said in much talk ,much sin. In the end the priests used to chase them away. Talking with a good purpose is one thing. Talking for the sake of talking , of gossip is another. It is so easy to go from the one to the other. The internet can make this very, very easy. Such a temptation.

Perhaps a good sign of people who do post on the internet is that they are Charitable.

I would guess they will know almost right away if he has cancer. I hope they are transparent about it for once and let people know one way or another.

I don't know what good all the fudging around ever does.

Today is also Blessed Alexandrina's Feast Day. We'll be going out to Balasar for Mass this morning. I'm sure there will be prayers for Pope Leo's health.

I don't believe Pope Leo will be going anywhere, or doing anything after this unless he experiences the most profound conversion.

The most very, very , profound conversion.

Prayers, for a very, very, very deep change of heart. That he may become Catholic.

The prospect of death can concentrate minds.

  15. Lung cancer confirmed! How bizarre, Francis was also missing part of a lung.

  16. Isn't that one of the worst cancers for metastasis? He also doesn't smoke to my knowledge, truly odd.

  17. My aunt never smoked but got lung cancer. She did well because she was young. I knew they would not be operating unless they knew. Prayers that the Pope will recover fast.
