The whole thing is running away from the Cross. It was a trend that ABFC saw in his time, which has escalated greatly in our time. One of the faculties of the Nature of Christ is to absorb/endure the Cross. The rejection of the Cross is a rejection of Christ and God's Will. Rebellion.
First they change the crucifix to a Cross. Then suddenly no more Cross. Then they downplay Our Lady. But the main target is the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and no more Eucharist. They know if they achieve this they will have gained all evil. Watch and see. They are like busy evil bees that never rest and even to sleep at night. Their demons know there is only a short time left before their neck id broken and Satan is flung back into hell in chains again. The Holy Name of Jesus is never on their lips. Scripture lies buried in a torrent of wicked words and abominable meetings. 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
I find watching videos of good Contemplative communities a big consolation. There are really great saints out there at the moment.
June 18, 1965. "Many cardinals, many bishops, and many priests are on the road to perdition and are taking many souls with them." Garabandal
I can see why Garabandal has never quite squeaked through the door of approval. These words are stark. And have proved true. The children of Garabandal would never had even thought of making such a thing up. The devil would never reveal such a thing. It's Our Lady! And just like the terrifying words of La Salette it has been repressed.
So true. In rural 1960s Spain priests were regarded as holy messengers of God. They were respected and almost venerated. Can you imagine four uneducated girls who still played with their dolls and whose main concern was a cow that had been taken ill making up a statement such as this? And yet facts showed the words to be truly prophetic. June 18, 1965. "Many cardinals, many bishops, and many priests are on the road to perdition and are taking many souls with them." Garabandal
I am always hopeful. Look how many Saints are appearing around us. Both lay and clerics. The Mother of God forum would not exist but that it was needed for these times. None of this darkness will last forever, it is almost at an end .
It is sad and strange though. The ordinary lay folk pay attention to the appearances of the Mother of God. The Bishops either ignore or are hostile to them .
I would be concerned about any move to drop the Filioque from the Creed just to promote unity with the Orthodox Churches. Is that what the new document is hinting at? Yes it is true that it was added later and that the early Church did not recite it, and that the Eastern Catholic Churches still do not recite it. But in my opinion to concede it as if it had lost its raison d'etre would place the Church on a slippy slope, undermining the Doctrine of the Trinity. And it would also breach a very important principle in the life of the Church, i.e. lex orandi, lex credendi, lex vivendi. Mario bolded some clauses from the document. But I would bold another phrase further down which says we all need repentance [no problem with that] and conversion. Conversion to what? Perhaps it just means 'turn towards the Gospel' but I hope it does not mean conversion to a new form of the Church or a new religion.
I think the eastern churches are incorrect just based on the spirit by which they hold onto this. It is the same spirit as protestantism, they will rail against the Catholic church while claiming victim hood. Meanwhile the Catholic church never gives angry homilies about the orthodox.
Though we must not turn a blind eye, we should not drink deeply of such troubling news. Just as a good examination of conscience reveals flagrant or even simple, subtle rebellions within my soul, I must repent and not despair, trust in the healing grace of God's Mercy rather than falter, and pick up my particular cross and follow Christ to Golgotha. It is His Grace that overcomes my duplicity and His overpowering Love that sends the devil fleeing, by taking eyes off my weakness and helping another to be embraced by Christ's Mercy! I'm speaking to myself when I run at the mouth like this!
I don't know I am not well qualified to say. As Pope St John Paul said the West and East are like the two lungs of the Church. We very much need each other. If any one can do something to heal the split it would be a huge blessing for the Church. The only problem at the minute is a spirit of distrust of the present regime at the Vatican. I really, really hope they are doing the right things as regards to this. But it's a case of once bitten twice shy. But please God they are doing the right thing. I do hope so...
Funny enough, I saw a Protestant say this week on X, formerly Twitter, that Rome and the East would unite and that Protestantism would be the only branch of Christianity to defend the biblical truth of the Filioque. So this issue touches on a sensitive point in the global ecumenical movement, since it could bring us closer to the Orthodox but distance us even further from Protestantism.
The thing is that the Eastern Catholic Churches are in full Communion with the Roman Catholic Church. However, I do believe their liturgy omits the Filioque from the Creed. It could be that this will be used as a wedge drop the Filioque while at the same time not denying it. https://www.youtube.com/live/WKKPcqbAIrg? I just get a bad feeling about it. I know that Jesus did say that He would ask the Father to send the apostles an Advocate, but I suppose that has nothing to do with the Doctrine of the Trinity. From my understanding, I cannot see how the Holy Spirit can be said to proceed from the Father (alone), especially when the Holy Spirit IS the Love between the Father and the Son. So the Holy Spirit proceeds via spiration from the Father AND the Son. I have seen it suggested that this might be resolved by saying "from the Father THROUGH the Son. Perhaps that would be acceptable to the East and West ...
The question could also be resolved in the following way: God the Father granted all authority in heaven and on earth to God the Son. Then the Spirit proceeded from the Father to the Son once, and from that moment on, the Spirit also proceeds permanently from the Son. I don’t know why, but I think that Mary’s role expressed in the title “Spouse of the Holy Spirit” could help clarify this issue.
I'm pretty sure that would require a step much further than simply Leo XIV and the Patriarch saying "sounds good".
I believe God will call Pope Leo home soon, together with many, many souls in the Vatican. We should pray very much for their poor, poor souls.
