I suppose that my point is that this will continue to be a long fight and you sort of proved the point that I had floating around in my head after my initial reaction. My most recent thought about this is, if some orthodox cardinals whom I believe are very few in number right now believe that Pope Francis has committed heresy if he signs off on deaconesses then he would no longer be pope in their opinion and ours too, so then what? I believe God will intervene and it will be before the end of the Winter. I can name that tune in less than 5 notes, less than 5 months in this case.
I just posted this on another thread, but it is exactly what you are talking about here. I was recently re-listening to the Sensus Fidelium mission series on Bruno's visions, the Third Secret, and End Times prophecy. I heard a very startling part that I had not paid attention to upon first listening to the talk a year ago. It seems Fr. is speaking about a prophecy concerning an actual formal schism and he thinks Cardinal Burke may be the one who could play a decisive part. The whole talk is good, but the statement I am speaking about is at the 1:02:40 mark. I was floored when I heard him say it. The preceding part of the video (maybe 5-10 minutes or so) lays the groundwork for what he thinks describes the official break, but I just marked the exact spot for those who don't want to listen to more than just the final analysis he comes to. Fr. talks about the Book of the Apocalypse and the vision of the temple being divided into 2 parts. The worldly part and the Holy part. I thought hard about whether to post this video and I want to repeat I am not trying to foment any kind of schismatic thought. Francis is Pope as far as we know. I have repeatedly stated on this forum. We must accept that.
If those pachamamas show up at mass tomorrow after Bishop Schneider's open letter I just read, I wouldn't be surprised if God Himself strikes them down for all to see. There is no way PF would allow them back, if he does, God have mercy. It would be the turning point for me.
I'm not following anyone out of The Church, no matter how holy. Schisms are dangerous things and Bergoglio would be delighted if those who disagreed with him packed their bags in a righteous huff and left him. That would leave all those that remained totally at his mercy. And the schismatics would be left without the papacy, flawed as it is. Let him bring on his abominations, I intend to remain Catholic and will have nothing to do with them, but I will stay in the Church, because no matter what he does, it will still be the Church and Our Lord will eventually purify it.
, I don't have much knowledge about any of this; so confused. What would go down if some cardinals declare Pope Francis a heretic and ask for his removal from office? Would it take a majority of cardinals, and if that doesn't happen would it then be considered a schism? Carol, why are you thinking of 5 months?
To be clear I am not advocating schism in any way. Especially on our own self-appointed authority. The question is...and this is a big one...if a group of bishops and cardinals follow a procedure as Cardinal Burke had outlined a few years ago and, at the end of it after repeated warnings, announce that the Pope has proven himself a formal heretic by clinging pertinaciously to errors and refusing to renounce them then what? The question we might all have to face is not whether we want a schism, but what do we do if there is a schism. We must accept that. I think though we all must be ready spiritually for whatever may come next. The synod has just passed a document seeking the ordination of women. Something which cannot be. Tomorrow a pagan goddess may be in St. Peter's at Mass. This will demand some kind of serious response from the cardinals and bishops. I don't see how they can avoid a fraternal correction if these things become a reality.
The time may come...and not too far off...where we have no choice but to seek out a Mass elsewhere than our normal parish. If a woman deacon (or eventually priest) is present or if there are pagan gods, prayers etc. present then a faithful Catholic would have no choice but to seek another place to attend the Holy Sacrifice.
I'm not leaving the papacy. We were told there would be an abomination of desolation. We weren't told to abandon the Church, no matter how desolate. We must suffer it. If Cardinal Burke decides to leave, and he's a good man, I'm not following him. The Church is the Body of Christ; Cardinal Burke, Cardinal Sarah, Archbishop Schneider, nor any other man, can not make another. Christ's body is yet again being scourged, will be tortured again with thorns and will have to carry the Cross again down the Via Dolorosa, and it may even be Crucified again, but I intend to follow unto Calvary. The ultimate desolation foretold is that we might no longer have the Mass. It might become impossible to find a Mass, rather than a travesty of one. I certainly have little hope of the future here in Ireland. We might only have the Rosary, but Our Lord has promised that this time would be shortened. Then, we can look forward to the Church's Resurrection.
The problem here is Church teaching and tradition. If solid proof can be brought to show undisputed heresy from the pope then he takes himself out of the papacy whether he wants to go or not. See St Robert Bellarmine. If Cdls. Burke and Sara and Mueller make the case of clear heresy then PF is no longer Pope. Period. I'm ready to be proven wrong but I'm pretty sure that is how it works.
I do not intend to leave the Church or the Pope either. The question might become though...where is he? It seems God is allowing everything to become more and more confused. That is our punishment and rightly deserved. The crux of the situation I guess is can a Pope become schismatic? This is the question Fr. Weinandy brought up a few weeks ago in his article. I don't know that anyone now knows the answer. Once again I repeat to everyone don't leave the Church or the Pope. That was not the intent of my last few posts.
