Padraig, I was listening to Liveline today with Joe Duffy who had Joe Coleman on for the full hour and a quarter. Firstly his language was appalling. The more I listened the more I was angry with how he is deceiving people and how he himself is been deceived. :x Joe Coleman wanted to bring a large statue of Our Lady into the Basillica so that the people could worship Her. I would bet that he is definitely seeing something and not making it up and this "thing" is trying encourage conflict within the Church. He told her she should be down on her knees in praise of Mary. He appears to be a bit of a bully and needs prayers himself. I had gathered that he had an arrogant attitude. Certainly not the way a true visionary of Our Blessed Mother would act.
I am afraid that the hierarchy is stuck in a dilemma of its own making. Firstly there is no doubt that things are happening there, thousands of people have witnessed this, loud peals of thunder, Signs in the Sky and the Sun appearing to dance, not only this but they have been filmed and recorded, secular journalists and others have witnessed them. Now since these do not come from God fair enough. But if they do not come from God ,were do they come from? If they turn round and say they are some kind of mass hallucination...well that is not convincing, how can hallucinations be filmed and placed on utube and TV? Hallucinations, even mass hallucinations come from the mind , how can they appear on digital recordings?? Many, many, many recordings? It is impossible!! So if they do not come from God and they are not products of the mind where else could they come from? Well the only place they could come from...and this is the teaching of countless Catholic Mystical Theologians and Saints down the ages is from the devil. But why then does the Archbishop and others say quite simply that these things come from the devil and that the Faithful should flee from them as from the plague? Because it is no longer fashionable to talk about the devil. Folks are happier to talk in psycho-sociological babble about mass psychosis and sociological need. They would as soon believe in the appearance of Our Lady in Apparitions as they would confess the devil can have such power. Have none of them noticed that these vents are taking place round the main ancient Satanic Feast of Samhain {now Halloween } and could only be drawn down through Satanic power drawn through sacrifice? Every time I see a picture of Joe Coleman I feel my flesh crawl I sense a very black aura round him. But I go back to what I previously said ; how can pscychological/ sociological factors influence digital recordings? It is impossible and unscientific to take such a view. It is nonsense. Also in the old days when the Church had faith in itself the Church would have been closed to this man and he would have been evicted from Church grounds. Now he is able to march in and take over Ireland's premier Marian Basilica like he owned in and stage these huge performances? There was a time when the local Monsignor would have driven him off with his blackthorn stick and no bad thing. But now...there has been a massive loss of authority and confidence. There was for the seers only prayer, suffering and persecution. Let us examine the phenomenon at Knock. Is the focus on the Holy Mass and Confession? It appears not. As Jesus instructs Anne: love is selfless and does not draw attention to oneself. We judge a tree by its fruit, not by the appearance of the tree, itself. Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!
Bobby , I remember reading a book by France's Rene Laurentin, who many people say is the world's foremost Mariologist. He did a count one time of the number of false visionaries round Lourdes at the time of Saint Bernadette, I think he got to around 260 and stopped counting. But he told an interesting story. He said one time not too long after Bernadette left Lourdes for the convent there was a small crowd of people down at the grotto when a shape like a white lady tried to appear. but when it got close to looking like Our Lady it kind of shimmered , turned into black smoke and vanished. Laurentin speculated that this was the devil but when he managed to get the 'vision' to look like Our Lady he had to stop because he hates Mary so much he destroyed his own creation. There are instances in the scripture of magical feats being performed. The priests of the Pharoah turning their sticks into snakes, the witch of Endor raising the dead and telling the future. To be honest if it is not the devil I am at a loss to explain it. It cannot be from God as good fruit does not fall from a bad tree and the guy is a fortune teller, a witch. If it was not for the pictures I would be happy to believe it was just all fantasy, but well I have seen the films and read the reports. Why would God let it happen? Well why would he allow Belsen Concentration Camp? Free will. If folks can choose to follow true visions and their messages, I suppose folks can make up evil ones. There was a very famous nun round about the time of Saint Teresa of Avila who fooled the whole country, including the Royal Family and the Church Hierarchy. Apparently she could work wonders. They only caught her on because she confessed on her death bed. But , I don't know...I can't think of any other explanation....... :shock: I think Terry is right too, when Mary appears it is as though in a cloud of prayerfulness which effects all around her. I do not see this here, I see sensationalism , excitement, tumult, like a fire works display, not a school for prayer, not a school for prayer at all. :roll:
God is omnipotent and we cannot fathom his wisdom, and all things are encompassed within his plan. I think a lot of the people who went to Knock were not genuine pilgrims and there for curiosity. And the old saying is true, 'curiosity killed the cat'. I also feel that if satan is using Knock to promote his lying wonders that he is now past his sell by date and clutching at straws. I sense that he knows his number is up and his power will be broken with the first secret.
