old dream I had, possibly about upcoming events

Same here. I used to think I was being selfish if I reached the stage where prayer became so difficult - but now I know it's not always the case.
When I get to this point, it often means that my prayer wagon has filled up and needs to be brought to the Lord. Years ago, a member of this forum - Desert Star or something - shared about the prayer of gazing. To go before a statue or even a sacred picture and to set down the prayer wagon filled with needs we've collected, and then to lean back and be still before the Almighty. It is a form of the surrender prayer. Like many others here, I can attest to its great power. God bless DS7 for teaching me this.

Such a lovely thing to do. I do gaze upon sacred images and words are not necessary but I always feel I need to be more active in prayer. God knows our hearts I guess and I need to trust and rest in the Lord.

I hope prayer is not about succeeding as we see it , but of simply trying. I suspect maybe God does not often view things as we do. It may very well be that the things we regard as failures are in fact our greatest successes and those we regard as out great victories our greatest failures.

In any event failing is a great teacher of humility and that is never a bad thing.

I know it sounds like a paradox but perhaps one of the best things that could happen to us in prayer is to fail. For instance I don't think we will ever touch the top until we have been in the absolute gutter.

I suspect that the main reason folks get stuck in a rut in prayer and never go forward is that they are in too comfortable a situation to move forward.

Very interesting comparison...as penance, some people climb Apparition Hill in Medjugorje with barefeet.

This is one reason the Warning has been stayed numerous times....as much as so many of us pray for it to occur. I used to fervently pray for it. Then one day in Adoration I received the words, "You do not know what you are asking for." That paused me quick!

Agree. And the blessing of the accident for Alyce and I is now being disabled and unable to work, we have more tine abd often can attend daily Mass and weekly confession. So what was a horrible thing, God has used to help us. To hear the Word of God and to receive Him daily is what gets us through the Crosses.
