The source seems credible. Yes, Jahenny is interesting, almost at the level of Emmerich in my humble opinion.
I am aware of the document but I haven't seen the quote there, maybe I missed it. It would be highly interesting to get to the bottom of this because the quote is a big statement and if the author is indeed Jahenny, this would be big. I am at work so I can't read it (again) but I will do. At this point I'm still a bit skeptical. :)

Here's a link to the booklet written by the Marquis de la Franquerie: http://www.todayscatholicworld.com/marie-julie-jahenny-prophecy.pdf
That book seems to be the source of all the accounts of Marie-Julie's visions.

Thank you, I am aware of this text but did not see the quote there. Maybe I missed it. I'm quite interested in Jahenny but never heard this big statement so far.
I will take a careful approach, remaining skeptical. There may be a lot of ex eventu false prophecies coming out now. God bless.

I know precious little about Marie-Julie or her prophecies. I remembered reading that booklet a while ago but didn't remember the content.

I did a search for "Paris" in the text and, from a cursory glance at one of the search results, I noticed something about Paris being in the tomb along with the Church before the rise of the great monarch and the holy Pope. That's just from a quick reading of a section of the text but I found it hard to tell which is prophecy and which is the author's interpretation of the prophecy. None of the "Paris" search results produced anything like this "When you see Paris burning you will come to know that God’s justice for the church and the world has arrived".

One of the websites containing Jehenny prophecies said something to the effect that references to the "centre" in the prophecy mean Paris. When I searched for "centre" in the text, I got fewer results than for "Paris" and nothing about Paris burning being a sign that God's justice has arrived.

I haven't the patience to read the whole booklet again, and, while Marie Julie does seem to have been a very holy person, from the little I read of the book I'm reminded that holy people may not fully understand visions or may perhaps put their own interpretations on what they see or hear. Also, if the person recording/reporting the visions is someone other than the visionary, there can be another layer of possible misinterpretation or wishful thinking.

I don't know much about her, Beth, and posted the link to the booklet in case some of you hadn't read it. I get all the prophecies and mystics mixed up. For some strange reason, I tend to confuse Marie-Julie with the "Blessed" whose incorrupt remains I visited in a church in Rome. I can't remember the name of the Blessed lady but it could have been Elizabeth(?) Connori-Mora (or a similar sounding name). And I can't remember her prophecies either. I think that one of them said that the leaves of the may flower would be the only cure for some illness or other.

Fatima is so much easier to understand and the solution of praying the Rosary is something even I can grasp.

MJJ did give some prophecy about cures. I can’t remember what it was. I agree with you that the solution of praying the Rosary is something I hold dear and it is efficacious.

Rather than explaining away the possibility of a miracle, doesn't the knowledge possessed by the Paris Fire Department, and the will to use it, represent a part of the miracle?

It is miraculous that what was most precious was saved, while the only damage to the vaulted part of the roof had the effect of wrecking the 'spirit of Vatican II' altar. We need another miracle to drive this signification into the skulls of our modernist clerical caste-instead it will all probably be dismissed as confirmation bias, a concept which logically corrodes any possibility of absolute truth, as opposed to power-driven assertion.

It is hard to keep the mystics straight. Like you, I “get” Fatima...because I read about it frequently. But even with Fatima, I constantly need to reread the details . Not all of the revelations were revealed to all three seers. Lucia received messages in her time in the convent. And the third secret controversy still remains. Lourdes is my second favorite.

Funny, I just read about the mystic with the flower pedal leaves very recently....and I can’t remember who that was either...or the flower! But not remembering these days for me is a common occurrence...with everything!

Funny, we are looking for the “Paris burning” prophesy from Marie Julie, but we are learning so much more. I always see a you tube video about her promoted in the you tube video feed, but I’ve never played it. I might have to now. If what I’ve already read about her life is true....the way she offered up sufferings.....then she indeed is saint material! It was very humbling. When I measure my small sufferings along side of a soul like this, I’m ashamed that I ever complain. Reading her story was worth it if just for that. It was a grace to have my eyes opened.

I have the book of MJJ The Breton Stigmatist on Kindle. I did a search for Paris burns and found 2 entries. The one that I think applies to current events could be:

"On June 21, 1874: 'I wanted to give France a King whom she refused, but the one I want to give her she will accept and she will ask for him and place him in her heart. But before she has this king, France will undergo a crisis and a violent storm. The blood of Christians will mingle with the blood of the impious. The just will fall in small numbers, but some will because the blood of the good will help the wicked. But this time will pass quickly. There will be pools of blood. It will last a short time, but to you it will seems long.' …… 'When will they {the Great Monarch and his army} make their appearance? It seems at the time when Paris burns. This is the house and the time. The Victory is ours! The victors will be small in number.' Then the Archangel uncovers the French banner. Our Lady comes forward and presents the Lily and crowns him."

    God Bless!

Beth, You might be referring to Servant of God Maria Esperanza in regard to flower pedals.

There are a lot of seers, that is for certain and it is very difficult to remember all of the details.

I also reread the details of Our Lady of Fatima often and I have multiple files on my computer about a few different apparitions including Marie Julie Jahenny's. The first thing that I read about her was from Mystics of the Church, http://www.mysticsofthechurch.com/2015/07/marie-julie-jahenny-breton-stigmatist.html . Then I read most of "The Breton Stigmatist", I found it a bit tedious but, like you, I do believe that she is saint material.

E.A. Bucchianeri who wrote the book which is contained on the Mystics of the Church link that I posted states on his blog, http://marie-juliejahenny.blogspot.com/p/blog-page_1.html , that "The visions and prophecies of a Catholic mystic approved since 1875." This is something that I knew from reading it in the past but I often forget because Marie Julie Jahenny has not been made a "Servant of God", as of yet. I honestly don't understand how this works, maybe E.A. Bucchianeri explains this on his site but I have not investigated it enough yet. I suppose that her visions and prophecies can be approved without the "cause" for her canonization beginning.

“Wake Up, Brothers!” A Prophetic Warning at Notre Dame From the Future Pope Pius XII
Two years before he became pope, Cardinal Pacelli told a Paris gathering to avoid the “gesture of Lucifer,” and declared that it is the “substance of Christianity, the very substance of religion, that is at stake.”
    Edward Pentin

Just two years before his election as Pope Pius XII, Cardinal Eugenio Pacelli gave a stirring and prophetic warning in the cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris using words that could just as easily apply to today.

But on July 13, 1937, on the eve of Bastille Day, a future pope would give the homily in the cathedral, on a topic fitting for the venue: “The Vocation of France.”

The cathedral, which suffered major damage by fire on Monday, has been central to French identity for centuries. It has always had strong links to the papacy ever since Pope Alexander III symbolically laid its first stone in 1163.

Cardinal Pacelli, at the time Vatican Secretary of State, warned of a coming dark age, but not before waxing lyrical about the “soul of today’s France” and the profound role Notre Dame cathedral has played in the nation’s history.

He remembered the nation’s great historical figures of the past, and praised the cathedral as a “masterpiece” of French “genius” and “loving work.”

He singled out the cathedral altar on which “God descends under the veils of the Eucharist” to welcome “all of us together under Mary's maternal mantle.”

The two West towers, Cardinal Pacelli added, “seem to probe the serene horizon or threaten the capital as watchmen.”

And amid the “incessant noise” of the French capital, Notre Dame de Paris is “always serene,” he said, and “seems to repeat incessantly to all those who pass by… a perpetual invitation to prayer.”

For centuries, he said, the cathedral had born witness to “the luminous doctrine of truth, the holy morals of the Gospel, God's love for the world, repentance and necessary resolutions.”

He then exhorted “all the sons and daughters” of France to be “faithful to your traditional vocation” before remarking on how many were repeating the “gesture of Lucifer” in proudly showing their absence of belief.

Just two years before the outbreak of World War II and at a time when the Nazis were on the rise, he called on the French faithful to “contemplate a world today that has perhaps more need of redemption than any other era of history.”

In particular, he called on the French people to wake up from their slumber to recognize what was happening, and enemies within the Church that were seeking to destroy her.

“Notre Dame de Paris, witness in past centuries to so many experiences, so many disillusionments, of so much sadly misguided zeal, directs you to … her exhortation to vigilance, an exhortation filled with maternal goodness, but also with gravity and solicitude,” he said.

“Wake up, brothers! Be vigilant, fratres! Be vigilant!"

Today, Cardinal Pacelli added, “it is no longer a question, as in the past, of supporting the fight against deficient or altered forms of religious civilization which in large part still retained a soul of truth and justice inherited from Christianity or unconsciously drawn from it.

Now, he said, it is the “substance of Christianity, the very substance of religion, that is at stake,” adding that its “restoration or its ruin is at the center of implacable struggles that upset and shake at the foundation of our continent and the rest of the world.”

Man, he went on, was no longer able to distinguish between the temporal and the eternal, nor “sense and enjoy the harmony in which dissonances are resolved peacefully.”

And he observed how “intelligent technical” advances have “appeared to make man finally master of the forces of nature” but which at the same time have made him afraid of “passing his own life onto others.”

    “Watch out!,” Cardinal Pacelli exhorted.

He recalled how in the Garden of Gethsemane, “at the very moment their Master was about to be arrested,” the apostles “seem to be falling asleep in their blind unconsciousness that the threat to the world does not concern them.”

They believed they had no responsible part to play “in the crises in which the universe is struggling with anguish,” he said.

“How many remain deaf and inert to Christ's warning to his own Apostles,” Cardinal Pacelli said in closing.

“Be vigilant et orate ut non intretis in tentationem [pray that you not enter into temptation]! Be vigilant!”

Bishop Athanasius Schneider suggests anti-Christians and FREEMASONS might have started the fire. He states that these groups are firmly in control of France's politics and media. He links these threats directly to the need to convert Jews and Muslims. Hmmmm..... Time to wake up, Catholics.

    HIS WORDS:

Some considerations on the conflagration of the Cathedral Notre Dame in Paris. By Athanasius Schneider.

The lightning vehemence with which fire engulfed the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris left one with the impression that an unexpected event had come like a bolt from out of the blue. And yet, viewed as a phenomenon, this tragedy came after a series of hundreds of systematic arson attacks on various sacred objects belonging to the Catholic Church in France over the last year.

It is also significant that the fire in Notre Dame occurred at the beginning of Holy Week, which is the heart of the liturgical year for all Catholics. As the facts in the case are still unknown, we have no evidence on which to base allegations of a plot to destroy the cathedral. Yet one is left with a queasy feeling inside, especially as one considers the chain of systematic anti-Catholic events, marginalization, discrimination and ridicule which the Catholic Faith has undergone at the hands of the French political establishment and French media landscape, both of which are firmly in the hands of the current anti-Christian and Free Masonic powers in France.

Notre Dame is not only the most symbolic cultural and religious sign for the Catholic Church in France. Given that France bears the title “eldest daughter of the Church,” her main cathedral also has deep cultural and religious significance for the entire Catholic world.

The destruction of a visible sign of such vast proportion as the Cathedral Notre Dame in Paris also contains an unmistakable spiritual message. The fire of Notre Dame is without doubt a powerful and stirring sign which God is giving to His Church in our day. It is a cri de coeurfor authentic conversion, first and foremost among the Shepherds of the Church. The fire has largely destroyed Notre Dame, a centuries-old masterpiece of the Catholic Faith. This is a symbolic and highly evocative representation of what has happened in the life of the Church over the last fifty years, as people have witnessed a conflagration of the Church’s most precious spiritual masterpieces, i.e., the integrity and beauty of the Catholic Faith, the Catholic liturgy and Catholic moral life, especially among priests.

The climax of this decades-long spiritual conflagration has manifested itself in the clerical sexual abuse scandals which have profoundly shaken the entire Church. Sadly, we must say that the handling of the clerical sexual abuse scandal has remained more or less on the level of emotional dismay. The true roots of this crisis have not been transparently disclosed, nor, consequently, have effective spiritual medicine and peremptory canonical norms been applied. In a recent and detailed essay, the former Pope Benedict XVI identified one of the most important roots of the abuse crisis, i.e. the loss of the true Faith, the prevalence of moral relativism, and the heterodox and unspiritual formation of seminarians. In reactions to the statement of the former Pope Benedict XVI one could observe an embarrassed silence — and even some indignant outcries — rumbling throughout the ranks of the establishment of liberal theologians and liberal clergy, who are the true spiritual arsonistsin the Church today. They now consider the former Pope Benedict XVI to be a troublemaker whose blunt observations obstruct their incendiary work.

If the Shepherds of the Church will not recognize in the Notre Dame conflagration a Divine warning, they will be behaving like the people in Salvation History who did not recognize the warnings that God often gave them through the uncomfortable and unabashed words of the prophets, through natural catastrophes and various events. The tragedy of Notre Dame spontaneously brought to my mind the following words of Our Lord: “Or those eighteen upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, No; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” (Lk 13: 4-5)

The tragic conflagration of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris is also a propitious occasion for all members of the Church to do penance for the acts of betrayal that have been committed against Christ and His Divine teachings in the life of the Church over the past fifty years. Penance and reparation must be made, especially for the betrayal of the command of God the Father that all mankind should believe in His Divine Son, the only Savior of mankind. For God wills positively only the one and unique religion which believes that His Incarnated Son is God and the only Savior of mankind. Penance and reparation must also be made for the betrayal of Christ’s explicit command to evangelize all nations without exception, first among them the Jewish people. For it was to them that Christ first sent His Apostles, to bring them to faith in Him and to the New and Everlasting Covenant for which the Old and temporary Covenant was established.

If the Shepherds of the Church refuse to do penance for the spiritual conflagration of the past fifty years, and for the betrayal of Christ’s universal command to evangelize, should we then not fear that God might send another and more shocking sign, like a devastating conflagration or earthquake that would destroy St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome? God will not indefinitely and shamelessly be mocked by so many Shepherds of the Church of our own day, through their betrayal of the Faith, their sycophantic serving of the world and their neo-pagan worship of temporal and earthly realities. To them as well are addressed these words of Christ, “I tell you, unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” (Lk 13: 5)

May the fire at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, however sad and deplorable it is, rekindle — especially in the Shepherds of the Church — a love and zeal for the true Catholic Faith and for the ardent evangelization of all those who do not yet believe in Christ. And may they be mindful not to marginalize and cowardly exclude the Jewish and Muslim people from this outstanding form of charity. May the fire at Notre Dame also serve as a means to inflame in the Shepherds of the Church a spirit of true repentance, so that God might grant to all the grace of a renewal in the true Faith and in true love for Christ, Our Lord, Our God and Our Savior.

When the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris began to burn, there was a group of faithful, with children and young people among them, who knelt on the ground and sang the Hail Mary. This was one of the most touching and spiritually powerful signs in the midst of a great tragedy. May Our Lady, Help of Christians, intercede for us, that the Shepherds of the Church might begin, with the help of the lay faithful, to rebuild the spiritual ruins in the life of the Church in our day. In the Church, as in Paris, a process of repairing and rebuilding is a sign of hope.

  20. How Difficult Was it to Set Fire to the Ancient Oak Beams in Notre Dame?

The following video features a TV discussion with the retired architect-in-chief at the cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris. His remarks seem to contradict the assertion I made yesterday about the upper regions of Notre Dame being a pile of tinder just waiting for a match. He says the 800-year-old oak beams are in fact very difficult to ignite.

A correction in the translation: After Vlad had uploaded the video, the translator sent me a note about the date of the architect-in-chief’s retirement. She said he retired in 2010, so the relevant text should have read “2000s” instead of “’90s”. I’ve fixed the transcript, but readers should bear the correction in mind while watching the subtitled video.

Many thanks to Ava Lon for the translation, and to Vlad Tepes for the subtitling:

    Video transcript:

00:00 So you’re telling us that this type of timber doesn’t burn like that? —Ah, no. You know, oak that
00:04 is 800 years old, it’s very hard!
00:08 Try to burn it. Well, I’ve never tried. But oak, OLD oak —
00:12 Phew… It’s not obvious at all. You would need a lot of kindling to succeed.
00:16 And there, I don’t know if there was any… No, there I’ll stop joking. I think that… no,
00:19 it stupefies me a lot! —And where does this thought lead you? To what hypothesis does it bring you?
00:24 I don’t have any hypothesis that I could tell you.
00:28 Which hypothesis could I propose?
00:32 That… that it was quick!
00:36 That we couldn’t do anything else in order for it not to go this fast.
00:40 I’m lost in conjectures. You know, we did — in
00:44 Notre-Dame, just before I retired, meaning in the 2000s,
00:48 we updated all the electrical wiring of Notre-Dame. So there’s no possibility of a short circuit.
00:55 We updated to [conform with] the contemporary norms, even going very far, all the detection
01:00 and protection [systems] against fire in the cathedral. With elements
01:04 of measurement indicators, of aspirations, and so on,
01:08 which allowed us to detect a beginning of a fire. At the bottom of the cathedral I had
01:12 two men, at all time, who are there day and night, and who are there
01:16 to go and have a look — the minute there’s an alarm. And to call the firefighters the minute
01:20 there’s no doubt… —They are there permanently? — Permanently, yes.
01:24 Could there be a failure of the alarm mechanism? Impossible?
01:28 Everything is possible. Everything is possible. But I have trouble believing it, because
01:33 well, it was a colossal work, and then, you know
01:37 it’s like at those construction sites of historical monuments, especially Notre-Dame, we have
01:41 technical, normative and control support and so on, and so on, that’s significant.
01:45 That is significant. That you won’t see anywhere else. So there…
01:49 I have to say that I AM rather stunned. —And during the thirteen years, that you were
01:53 the architect-in-chief of the building, you had no knowledge of
01:57 the beginning of a fire…? It never happened? —No. I’m happy about that.
02:01 Jerôme. —You can see well, however, that the work
02:05 of restoring a historical monument which dates from so many centuries ago
02:09 accentuates the fragility of the monument itself,
02:13 and one of problems that also arises is the surveillance of this type of construction site…
