I am just absolutely outraged! A local Catholic Church was made to take down their Nativity scene because “religious minorities” were offended and felt unwelcome. I just saw this on the news today and I think it is very, very sad. The town is saying you can’t have a Nativity scene on public property. You can have a Christmas tree, wreaths, Santa, all sorts of Christmas decorations, but no Jesus, Mary, or Joseph. What is this world coming to? I am so upset I could chew nails!!!!!☹️☹️☹️
Sadly this is becoming more and more common. Persecution of Christians is increasing. Not all religions, only Christians. Nobody is limiting Jewish or Muslim or Buddhist freedoms. Just Christians. Facebook blocked a picture of Santa Kneeling before the Baby Jesus and listed it as "violent or graphic content". What?!? Thankfully the block was removed eventually, but I think the day is not far off where it will not be.
I’m going to make sure I go out and buy a manger set and put it out in my front yard. I was meaning to do this anyway but have been busy with a disabled spouse who has been having a lot of health issues and trying to find that second job. And also, people around here are saying “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas “ and they get offended when you still continue to say Merry Christmas!
It's good to stand up and push back as we are able. Just don't let it steal your peace. All these things must come to pass...
There is an old Irish Tradition of putting a candle in the window at Christmas so that anyone who needs a bed can come in for the night. I wonder do they do this anywhere else? I am going to do this this year I think it is a beautiful custom. I haven't even put the crib up yet! I must get round to it the next few days. Christmas comes round so fast. That is one of the signs of getting older they seem to come in droves these Christmases. I remember when I was a child we used to count the hours. One time myself and the brothers could not sleep on Christmas Eve and my father rolled in a bycyle he had got. The bell rang and we thought it was the beels of Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and we nearly died thinking Santa Claus might catch us still awake. Chirstmas is so special.
I wonder how many Peaceful Christmas's we will have in Peace. Did you ever count the times in mass we pray for Peace? Many, many , many. We take Peace so for granted now. I was watching a film on Pope Pius x11, he watched from the Vatican bombers hit Rome. He went and got his oils and went out into the city to give the Last Rites. THis actually happened. Just like a Parish Priest. Plus his appartments were filled with poor Jews he sheltered from the Germans. We only hear the bad things, never the good.
