When the Boston Bruins won the stanley cup 2 years ago, the goalie Tim Thomas skipped the visit to the white house because he does not like what obama policies are doing to america (thinks they are socialist, he's a glenn beck follower). Of course, he was demonized in the local press...people saying he was a little out there for his beliefs...wasn't a team player. When the Red Sox won the world series in 2004 and 2007, the team GM was Theo Epstein, and he skipped the visit to the white house because he did not like Bush or his policies. Of course, nothing was made of it at all in the press. Brave move by Birk in sticking up for his faith. He will be ridiculed.
