    Hi,

I happened to come across a website that has a very interesting story about her deep involvement in the new age movement and her conversion back to Christianity. I'm not sure how to create a link but the address is

    http://www.christiananswersforthenewage.org/AboutCANA_SpiritualJourney.html

It really highlights how dangerous walking down the new age path can be. I know a lot of people that are into reiki. In fact my closest friend recently did a course and has been trying to convince me to let him practice it on me because I have fairly debilitating fibromyalgia. I tried explaining why I'm not comfortable with it. I've explained to him that it's not that I think it wouldn't work but I'd be afraid it would work physically but open up a whole load of psychological and spiritual problems. He doesn't really believe there is such a thing as evil personified though, just negative or bad energy, so that's why he can't understand it. Anyway check it out if you have time.

Siena, you are very wise to stay away from the reiki. When I went to hear the exocist speak, at the Catholic luncheon, he said there are many doorways that are openings for the evil ones, the demons to enter and among the best entrances was reiki. ANYTHING with a pagan background we should stand far away from.

There are loads of New Age practises out there.

Even yoga I believe can be potentially dangerous.
I had this debate with my wife who was thinking
of yoga as a means of helping her back. So I did
a bit of research on the internet and was shocked
by what I discovered. I have no doubts that those
who practise yoga seriously are in grave spiritual danger
because the whole technique of breathing/meditation opens
the spirit to darkness and satanic forces.
Aviod all Eastern esoterical practices as they their
philosphies are based on pagan practices.

I learnt yesterday that my niece who I havent seen in a few years is really into yoga and has just gone off to Nepal for a few weeks. I feel very worried about her and I am praying for her. If you have time please say a prayer for her enlightment. Her name is Andrea.

    God bless
    Mary

Of course Mary, I'll offer the mass for her this morning. I'm starting a novena today and will include her.

    maryrose,

I will offer focused prayer for your niece. May Jesus surprise her in Nepal for the Lord has his servants everywhere!

Safe in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary!

Regarding Yoga, I agree with you all that caution must be exercised with it (no pun intended). However, one can do the Yoga exercises without the associated "spiritual" components. Just simply do the stretching and exercises. I do them often to help me stay in shape and relieve stress on my back. Also, why can't a Christian say Christian prayers while doing the exercises or meditate upon Jesus and HIS passion? I don't understand why so may people feel the need to jump into the eastern esoteric stuff when they have a very deep well of resources through their own Christian tradition.
