Hi Jack In the movie Jesus Revolution the protestant pastor proclaims in his communion service that Jesus said of the wine, “This represents my blood.” How insidious. We of course know that Jesus said “This is my blood”. As we know, these words were too hard to take for many of His followers and would have been so for fans of the movie. The whole movie was insidious. It is a false story about a true story. It sanitises the 60s and the true life characters it portrays. A Catholic priest who reviewed the movie called the Protestant communion service a cringe worthy moment for Catholics and said it was due to a difference of theology. For me it was gross false witness to the Word of God. I doubt if any reputable bible can be found that upholds this misquote. Jesus Revolution is a feel good movie but we all know that feelings are not facts.
Just saw Nefarious last night. For me its a must see. It really makes you think and feel it is how demons would indeed work. It has been in my head all day in a good way not a bad way. Definitely helped me in my own spiritual journey and gave a better understanding of demons, how they attack, etc. Many priests have discussed this movie as something to see. It isn't a scary movie its a thinking movie. The Russel Crowe movie on the other hand was awful and I'd advise staying away from it. Father Amorath would not be happy with the portrayal of him me thinks. I have not watched the Padre Pio movie yet but do want to especially since it converted Shia Leboff to Catholicism after playing Padre Pio.
A warning about the Padre Pio movie... I haven't seen it, but people are saying there is a graphic scene of an image of Mary being sexualized as the devil supposedly tempts Padre Pio. It has upset a lot of people because it's an image they now can't get out of their mind, associated with Mary. Absolutely horrible, IMO, and not worth seeing.
Saw it myself last night... Great show! And you're spot on with regard the Russell Crowe move. Waste of time. Very disappointing
