Sometimes walking around the cemeteries I come across a little headstone that reads, 'Died for their Faith'. Or in other words they died simply because they were Catholics, sometime after severe torture. We were always taught from childhood that such people are Martyrs And go straight to heaven with a Martyrs Crown. I believe this to be so and such people are even to be greatly envied. As to the people who killed them well Dark nights, dark dreams, dark lives. Look at poor old Pontius Pilate. Not a happy camper, not his poor wife either.I I would say being a person of hate is just about the worst fate that can befall a soul. They only thing worse, perhaps is being a person of pride, most especially spiritual pride: the Sin of Satan.
Hard to imagine the level of hate that could inspire the abduction and violent deaths of two innocent children. As a mother, I can’t imagine the pain of losing a child like this. Just no words.
My father met a poor wom.an whose husband had been abducted and murdered. The police brought him home in a coffin and advised her not to open it But she got someone to open it, she said she had to know. She said when he left the house his hair had been jet black. When she saw him in his coffin ifcwas snow White. She said she didn't look any further, just closed the lid
John, those murderers and the soldier who terrorised you need somebody's prayers - maybe yours. They will be getting on in years now reaching a stage when people spend more time reflecting on their past and eternal destiny. The prayer of the righteous achieves much. Your prayer could save them. I know it's a big ask, but maybe a novena for them could help them, Philip's mother and you.
