It seems a lot agree that there is a strange kind of dying off happening now. Maybe also some people are being called now when we can have a proper mourning period and when many prayers can be said. Possibly in the near future we will enter a period when death will become common and those that die then won't be so lucky as regards those prayers? If I was to guess I don't think anything major will happen during the year of mercy though, I would be worried about the period just after that. Anyway I am sure Mother Agelica won't forget us in the good place she is going to.
Now for a doubting Thomas kind of guy like me, I would love a special EWTN Mother Angelica Live from just inside the Pearly Gates and a brief interview with St. Peter himself
I was very privileged to meet her quite a few years ago in Alabama. I got to attend Mass there and sit in on one of the shows. I got to shake her hand, and she was very short and tiny but a rock star for our faith. I just love her, may she rest in peace.
I didn't realise Mother Anglelica had mystical visions of the Child Jesus! It must have been very hard on her seeing things like the Child Abuse Crisis. Only in years to come will we fully understand the debt we all owe her. They say if it had not been for Padre Pio the CHhrch in Italy might have been more nor less destroyed. It may well be if not for Mother Angelica in the USA perhaps the Church might have been destroyed there too. God uses the smallest acorns to grow the greatest trees.
I just read this article a minute ago. I remember when it happened, but had forgotten about it. She also had a miracle that allowed her to walk without her braces after a mystic prayed over her....she actually danced with everyone at her monastery to show the true healing power of God.
I remember watching her with interest for the first time years ago. Her simplicity and humility made her personal holiness very hidden at first. I remember one time someone asked Padre Pio about his huge Apostolate and he replied that he was just a priest who prayed. I think we could say of Mother Angelica the same thing that she was a simple nun who prayed. But one who prayed very much. It's great we still have the recordings of her speaking, it is like hearing her from heaven.
I read Holy Grandfather Benedict XVI has said to be called home to Heaven Easter Sunday is a Gift from God . And for those of us who are making the Divine Mercy Novena, it is another Gift to realise Mother Angelica died on the day we intercede for souls who are Faithful to God and for the Devout. How perfectly that describes our dear little Angelica. Merciful Jesus, I entrust Mother Angelica to You.

For your discernment: While living in Hanceville AL several years ago near Mothers Monastery and Shrine, my husband and I were blessed to have met Mother and heard many stories about her mystical experiences with the child Jesus from Deacon Bill who became our good friend. This is one of them that has always touched my heart: While having a birthday party one day, all the Nuns and Mother were sitting at a large table and little Jesus appeared to Mother walking down the center of the table. Mother asked him if He was having a good time and He relied, "oh yes!" Then she asked Him if He liked the balloons and He relied, "Oh yes. I especially like the pink ones!" When I thought about why He would like the pink ones more than the other colors, I realized that Our Heavenly Father paints the sky pink at the dawn of the day. Mother Angelica, pray for us to the child Jesus!

I forgot about that huge row she had with Cardinal Mahoney over a pastoral letter he wrote on the Eucharust. Wow! What a fighter, there must have been a bit of Irish inside her somewhere. Fearless. My hero! What an example to other women, the feminists of course ignore her death as do Liberal nuns, but what an example. An example too to her fellow religious and to lay Catholics. If you see something wrong by someone , no matter how high up in the Church do or say something wrong call them out on it!! Beautiful Requiem Mass for Mother Angelica this afternoon (gmt time). Friends and family gathered in our living room to watch EWTN. I think she is a saint. How I wish I had her courage.
