Well, I disagree slightly that riches in and of themselves are bad. I thought so too once, or at least had confused ideas on the subject. And when I did, I was still poor. I was born in a poor family, and after dad died young, we were poor. But today, by the Grace and Blessing of God, with a good education and after having worked in two top investment banks for a while, Bank of New York and Wells Fargo, I am much better off. I wouldn't say I'm ultra-rich or anything, just fairly well off compared to say 10 or 20 years ago. If we read the Gospel carefully, Christ doesn't condemn riches per se, and He couldn't because Saints like Abraham and Job, David and Solomon were rich in the Old Testament. So what does He in fact condemn, (1) in the Rich Man and Lazarus Parable, not the fact that Dives was Rich, but that he had no love and compassion for his neighbor, that he did not relieve his poverty (2) In another Rich Man Parable, that he took no thought of God and Heaven, of doing Good Works and securing his Salvation (3) Finally, in the Rich Young Man story, that he did not love God more than Riches, and freely renounce riches upon being called to religious life, and for the sake at least of Treasure in Heaven. I too thought once riches were bad. And as long as I thought that way, I had practically no riches and was still poor. Today, again, while I'm not super-rich, I am fairly well off and have a different opinion. King Solomon in Proverbs says things like "the hand of the diligent maketh rich" and "the blessing of the Lord maketh rich", and in neither of these statements does he suggest being "maketh rich" is a bad thing. So there is a balance to be observed here imo. The sin is not in being rich, but in not (1) being generous, as in one parable (2) not caring for one's Soul, as in another (3) not storing Treasure in Heaven. God Bless.

I have wondered, from time to time, did the rich young man later reconsider Christ's challenge or, perhaps, it influenced him in his subsequent life choices? I think you are correct, in that wealth is a good in itself; the morality enters in to how you have obtained it and what you do with it. To condemn wealth as a bad thing in itself is the worst kind of socialism, the kind that leads everyone to poverty, with nobody having a surplus to give to the aid of anyone else.
As a generalisation, I have always found it much harder to collect money (my hard-earned pay) from people who keep horses, a mere signal for wealth and status for many, than from people who keep cows! I find my professional colleagues mostly have the same experience.
If memory serves me, Fr. Martin was of the view that conclaves are something like a process of rubber stamping a pre-determined outcome that he called the "policy". I don't recall whether the policy also included the person to be selected. I don't know how it could include the person because the selection is by secret ballot. Fr. Martin mentioned that a number of his uncles were Scottish Freemasons. Someone over on the King Charles thread mentioned that its advisable for people with freemasons in their lineage to look into having deliverance prayers. I'm a bit iffy about generational curses because I don't understand how they fit in with Baptism but, Fr. Martin having been such a traditionalist, I wonder did he ever have the deliverance prayers offered for his family. His brother was also a quite well known priest. I'm inclined to blow hot and cold about Fr. Martin. There's no doubting that he was extremely intelligent but there's something about his apparent love of the limelight that rings a warning bell. Back to the topic of the thread..... The decks are stacked against anyone with sound Christian values being elected to high office - and not just in America. And if one happens to sneak through, they will be hounded into submission or out of office. Corporate capitalism will see to that. Look how Orban in Hungary is being treated. The closest the Poles have to a Christian party bent the knee and it still didn't save them. Tusk was the beneficiary of their compliance. The corporate capitalism we have now is equally as bad as communism.

We need wealth to provide for our familys needs, to tithe, give to the Poor etc. Monks, Nuns, and Priests as well, are different, they are full time workers for the Kingdom, have given up marriage etc. So what applies to them is a little different than what applies to us laity. So wealth in itself is a good as you say. The Bible: "The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it." (Prov 10:22) teaches the same Truth. Beside many other passages. So we should study the entirety of the OT and NT on riches, and the clearer picture emerges imho, God Bless.

I know to some extent this is true for anyone who seeks power; that they would abandon all principles. But in her case she would not even pause to do so.

Yes Bought And Paid for. Really huge , huge amounts of money coming into her campaign. I Don't fret about this so much. But what is a huge , huge source of concern is this. Why is she hanging in there? Trump is far ahead. Why is she still in the ring? The only reason I can think of is they know for a fact that Trump is about to be taken out of the equation. That's why she is staying on, that's why the massive money. They are confident of getting Trump gone Why? How?

I can tell you Governor Haley is extremely popular among Indian Americans, many of whom are relatives/friends of mine. With White Americans she is perhaps less popular, as this forum itself suggests.
