I find that it is not a coincidence at all that this group is referred to as MDM. The last MDM was a storm throughout the church and prophetic world and finally it was deemed false. Now we have another MDM with very similar messages.
I might have had some respect for Fr. Foster if he and his companions had proclaimed the messages, but accepted their punishment in all other regards. Then Fr. Foster could argue he was following God's direct command to make his messages known, but acknowledged the archbishop in all other regards. However, Fr. Foster is ignoring the removal of his faculties and holding illicit Masses (and, perhaps, confessions, baptisms). He is in all-out rebellion. Where will it end? Yes, times are very bad. Followers of MDM are grumbling that the archbishop is a bad archbishop as well, darkly hinting at past actions (Doug Barry and Daniel O'Connor, who argues for only following the "True Magisterium" in this case). Still, Catholics should avoid the temptation to abandon the church, now more than ever. While the Barque of Peter may be a leaky boat, there are real sharks in the water.
I actually thought this video was very balanced. Especially, regarding the pope being the pope until it’s said otherwise. But humble submission regarding his faculties is another matter entirely. I keep going back to Padre Pio. God is known for changing hearts of Bishops, if He wants something revealed. God is God after all.
It should be noted - again - that the validly of this sister’s locutions does NOT hinge on the subsequent behavior of this priest or his archbishop. Ex post facto applies here: Yes, this priest is wrong in not obeying his archbishop. No, this priest’s subsequent behavior, and the actions of his archbishop which occurred as a result of his behavior, does not automatically negate the relative validity of this sister’s supposed locutions. And not to put too fine a point on it, but the ONLY thing in these messages that may have been theologically incorrect is the single word “usurper.” The rest of the locutions DO NOT contain any theological errors. Whether the Church eventually declares PF is determined to have been a “usurper” has yet to be seen. So the entire content of these locutions could still be without error when looked at again in the future. In which case this priest’s warning will be seen to have been heroic, not disobedient per se. But only the future can tell, and only after the Church deals with PF.
So Brian, you are arguing that perhaps God told this mystic now is the time to release the messages, even though the group had been told by the archbishop NOT to do so. That's a sticking point for me. The "house divided against itself" idea. In the real Divine Mercy apparitions of St. Faustina, Jesus told her to obey her lawful superior, even if He had told her something different, didn't He? Tell me any apparition or message in which a priest or mystic has been deemed heroic for disobedience to their religious superior. I can't think of one off hand.
I don’t think he should have revealed the messages and should have been obedient. That is where he went wrong. But it doesn’t necessarily mean the message is false. Interested in what Brian says…
Using the word usurper is point in fact the main bone of contention with these messages. Lets call a spade a spade. The current occupier of the chair of Peter has been called a usurper. There is no air brushing. Could a more divisive, controversial claim be made. And all this with the backing of heaven??? And in direct disobedience to authority. Robert nugent et all waffling on about holy father this and holy father that, please miss me with that nonsense. If you are supporting a message that calls the pope a usurper how can you out of the otherside of your mouth call him holy father
If the Bishops looked to scripture, and read the story of Jonah, how could they not see what they've allowed to happen on their watch? Imagine if Jonah, who literally ran away from God and what God was asking him to do for Nineveh, then deciding he better listen up after being spit up by a whale, had to then wait for his Bishop to decide/discern if what he heard was in fact from God.......Well, Nineveh likely wouldn't have lasted much longer. I don't say this to encourage people to ignore/defy the Bishops; I say this so that we may encourage the Bishops to live out what they are called to do; guide & protect the Lord's people. It's what they were called to do!! That means way more than protecting just themselves from "powers that be". The video above is pretty balanced ~ and the advice at the end is excellent regarding Divine Mercy Sunday.
This is a HUGE bone of contention. But it's out there now. My point is that if the bishop had done his job before that "bone of contention" even surfaced, there wouldn't have been a problem. Thirty years silent; no investigation or decision until things became inconvenient for him. That's what bothers me even more than the message itself, tbh. He and or his predecessors just left those people on their own all that time; his flock given to him by the Lord to care for ~ sad state.... Edited to add: I am in agreement that the priest should have still obeyed the bishop. That he didn't is a travesty....
I don’t know if the decision to publicly release the messages was made by the sister receiving them, or by this priest. Has this priest said which it was? If it was the former, yes, that’s problematic. If the latter, it’s again a case of imprudence/ disobedience on the part of this priest, NOT the supposed locutionist. Myself? I have no problem whatsoever with the locutions calling PF a usurper. I’ve believed this myself as a mental reservation for some time, as I’ve stated many times here for years, but I’m waiting for the Church to recognize this and announce it.
Agreed. But if you were Jonah and had a message from God for Nineveh but your local rabbi instructed you to “just can it for now,” and refused to act for 30 years, would you have obeyed your rabbi or God? We are living in times that have no precedence whatsoever in previous periods in the Church; what may have universally been applicable in all the history of the Church simply may not apply during this exceptional period of universal diabolical disorientation, including among those who should be shepherds.
Agree Brian. Why would heaven be politically correct to what we all know is a very corrupt church. God has always given the leadership to the people that they deserve. This has been such an unGodly world for so long, seems appropriate He would allow this kind of Pope to come into the church "power" hierarchy because we deserve it but also is a great wake up to people. How many have woken up to the true church agenda that was hidden and masked for so long because of the actions and words of this pope especially the last 3 to 4 years. I will raise my hand as one of these persons for sure. I loved this Pope at first but the veil fell off quickly. This Pope also was a huge help in the sense of digging even deeper into our faith because he would speak with so much confusion that it would force me to dig and research on my own. I agree you have to obey the church but at the same time it is very hard to obey when the leaders that you are to obey are the corrupt one indeed. Actually when I keep thinking on it more and more this call for obeying what may be unGodly people or unGodly actions, words or deeds, puts us in great spiritual harm. What are we all going to do when there is clear heresy preached in the church or when they change the mass. Are we still to obey what the enemy has sewn? You know who else obeyed their insane leaders, the German army under Hitler. How can we obey leaders that are clearly teaching teachings that rise up from the enemy? Thankfully we can place simple trust and faith in God alone and believe that he will give us the graces to know the truth in our hearts. And the truth is, many of us don't need these messages to tell us something is not right spiritually in the world and that it definitely feels like God's hand is about to strike. So many feel this in our spirit and this feeling has grown exponentially in this past year. And Lord, please strike hard and true because the world seems overrun by evil and so many good people are suffering at the hands of this evil or being deceived by this great evil and risk being lost forever.
Comparing this to the Old Testament is tricky. Christ is the head of His Church and established it as the guiding light through these dark times. I believe we are to hold on to faith.“What is bound on earth is bound in heaven.”Once we give up Church authority we are sinking in deep mud.
My point is that people like robert nugent are endorsing and promoting these events that call the pope a usurper whilst at the very same time calling that very same pope holy father etc etc without batting an eyelid. I have ignored Francis from day one of his pontificate. It never set well with me. I get on with my life and he does not feature. It's Christ's Church and His providence is allowing this madness for reasons that soon will be apparent
All this confusing talk about obedience. We know the limits of authority and obedience. I don't know how this is derailing many people.
Things were pretty disoriented when there were Three Popes in the late 1300s/early 1400s. Things were pretty disoriented after Martin Luther nailed his list to the cathedral door, when Henry VIII wanted a divorce, when the Latin church split from the Orthodox... It's not different in kind. A priest and an organized Catholic apostolate of a diocese owes obedience to the local archbishop. This is something well within his legitimate authority.
Where is the information that this group has been left alone all these years? They got the apostolate started in 2010 or so. Fr. Foster was permitted to leave his regular duties to devote himself to "Divine Mercy" in the hill country. They had been under obedience not to spread the messages, so clearly the archbishop was aware of what was going on with their mystic member and the content of the messages.
There is currently a true Church and a false church existing at the same time, and occupying the same physical structures. I personally grant no obedience to this false church. Is that archbishop a member of the true Church or this false church. I don’t honestly know, except the fact this archbishop gave Holy Communion to Joe Biden, and is persecuting good decent faithful lay Catholics on his diocese, both a possible sign of membership in this false church.
No, Brian. Tell me you are not one of those "True Magisterium" people like Daniel O'Connor and the rest of the Countdown crew. The next step is: "Every man a Pope!" The argument that the archbishop gave communion to Joe Biden is irrelevant to this case. To say otherwise is to come close to the heresy of donatism. ("Donatism was a Christian sect leading to a schism in the Church, in the region of the Church of Carthage, from the fourth to the sixth centuries. Donatists argued that Christian clergy must be faultless for their ministry to be effective and their prayers and sacraments to be valid.")
