A, 'Believer' who was baptised , 'in secret' yet never had a wedding in Church. A KGB Officer who was baptised without being found out by the KGB hierarchy? This although the Orthodox clergy were mostly KGB agents? A KGB agent who was not a Communist? Really?

MMMMMMMMM ....a snow job in Russia. perhaps.

 

I dont know... perhaps. A couple points. CIA manufactured or invented lies about weapons of mass destruction that led to the invasion of a sovereign nation by the USA and the death of 100,000s of people. The CIA and the USA are no innocents. Just this year over 4,000 civilians were killed in Iraq in car bombs and terrorist attacks.

Also I happen to think the events at Medjugorje are beyond human invention. I also have no reason not to beleive the visionaries when they say "Medjugorje is the continuation and fulfillment of Fatima." I also take at face value Our Lady's prophecy that "Russia will come to glorify God the most..." the fulfillment of that prophecy seems to becoming self-evident a pace that is nearly breath taking. Pope Francis and Putin (love him or hate him) are the two most powerful spokesmen for the Christian faith on this planet right now.

My problem would be with this. I'm sorry I just don't buy it. I am open to folks repenting and converting. Unless I see the repenting part I find it hard to buy conversion. In the case of Putin, well for the reasons I already gave. In the case of the Orthodox clergy because although all the clergy at the time of the Soviets were KGB agents (otherwise they would have ended up in a Gulag) none, no not one of them held their hands up and admitted it. So we have a Russian Orthodox Church was is, basically functioning under a great lie. The good clergy and lay folk ended up in Siberia or with a bullet in the back of the neck. The bad ones ended up on the KGB pay roll. ..and they or their linear descendants are snuggling up to ex KGB Czar Putin.

Of course I believe in conversion but first I have to see evidence of repentance. Its all too snug, too cozy, I don't buy any of it. I simply don't believe it. Not a word or a little bit of it.

You make a strong case for a KBG run Russia. This reminds me of the case anti-catholics make for Constantine and the reason for his conversion to catholicism. This video was made a year ago and rings more true today than it did last year. How about a west run al queda/muslim brotherhood?

N one has claimed on the forum that the USA or Europe has converted or is in the process of converting.

The critique starts when it is claimed that a great Nation such as Russia HAS converted . I beg to differ.This was an important point so therefor I maybe belaboured it a little. I just think we are dealing with a great wickedness here. A concealed wickedness, which makes it worse, a great deception .

If on the other hand someone had claimed that President Barrack Obama was some kind of Light to Nations, I would venture a critique. No one has ,so I won't.

I think we will; have to let this one go now, I think I have got my own point across. One further point before I leave it though. When I look at President Putin and the Orthodox Hierarchy I am prayerfully left very,very uneasy.

However you may very well be right and myself wrong. I am wrong so often and so many times I am left breathless to think on it. ..and now for myself back to other topics.

 

I remember this at the time, John a great deal of internet hub bub about poor Mikail's birth mark. In the end he turned out to be pretty harmless...in fact a force for good. I was touched by the love and loyalty shown by him and his late wife, Raisa, through good times and bad.

The Soviet response was to bury him deeper in its horrible gulag system.

I always viewed Gorbachev positively and the Lord certainly used him in the freeing of Russia.

I suppose Gorbi did intend to reinvent Communism Marti. Things as you say never worked out.

Sometimes though when I look in his eyes, I think he got a real kick on the ass and has changed inside.

Does anybody knows if he got converted himself?
