After the 9/11 attacks, the public was told al Qaeda acted alone, with no state sponsors.
But the White House never let it see an entire section of Congress’ investigative report on 9/11 dealing with “specific sources of foreign support” for the 19 hijackers, 15 of whom were Saudi nationals.
It was kept secret and remains so today.
President Bush inexplicably censored 28 full pages of the 800-page report. Text isn’t just blacked-out here and there in this critical-yet-missing middle section. The pages are completely blank, except for dotted lines where an estimated 7,200 words once stood (this story by comparison is about 1,000 words).
A pair of lawmakers who recently read the redacted portion say they are “absolutely shocked” at the level of foreign state involvement in the attacks.
Reps. Walter Jones (R-NC) and Stephen Lynch (D-Mass.) can’t reveal the nation identified by it without violating federal law. So they’ve proposed Congress pass a resolution asking President Obama to declassify the entire 2002 report, “Joint Inquiry Into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001.”
Some information already has leaked from the classified section, which is based on both CIA and FBI documents, and it points back to Saudi Arabia, a presumed ally.
The Saudis deny any role in 9/11, but the CIA in one memo reportedly found “incontrovertible evidence” that Saudi government officials — not just wealthy Saudi hardliners, but high-level diplomats and intelligence officers employed by the kingdom — helped the hijackers both financially and logistically. The intelligence files cited in the report directly implicate the Saudi embassy in Washington and consulate in Los Angeles in the attacks, making 9/11 not just an act of terrorism, but an act of war.

The findings, if confirmed, would back up open-source reporting showing the hijackers had, at a minimum, ties to several Saudi officials and agents while they were preparing for their attacks inside the United States. In fact, they got help from Saudi VIPs from coast to coast:
LOS ANGELES: Saudi consulate official Fahad al-Thumairy allegedly arranged for an advance team to receive two of the Saudi hijackers — Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi — as they arrived at LAX in 2000. One of the advance men, Omar al-Bayoumi, a suspected Saudi intelligence agent, left the LA consulate and met the hijackers at a local restaurant. (Bayoumi left the United States two months before the attacks, while Thumairy was deported back to Saudi Arabia after 9/11.)
SAN DIEGO: Bayoumi and another suspected Saudi agent, Osama Bassnan, set up essentially a forward operating base in San Diego for the hijackers after leaving LA. They were provided rooms, rent and phones, as well as private meetings with an American al Qaeda cleric who would later become notorious, Anwar al-Awlaki, at a Saudi-funded mosque he ran in a nearby suburb. They were also feted at a welcoming party. (Bassnan also fled the United States just before the attacks.)
WASHINGTON: Then-Saudi Ambassador Prince Bandar and his wife sent checks totaling some $130,000 to Bassnan while he was handling the hijackers. Though the Bandars claim the checks were “welfare” for Bassnan’s supposedly ill wife, the money nonetheless made its way into the hijackers’ hands.
Other al Qaeda funding was traced back to Bandar and his embassy — so much so that by 2004 Riggs Bank of Washington had dropped the Saudis as a client.
The next year, as a number of embassy employees popped up in terror probes, Riyadh recalled Bandar.
“Our investigations contributed to the ambassador’s departure,” an investigator who worked with the Joint Terrorism Task Force in Washington told me, though Bandar says he left for “personal reasons.”
FALLS CHURCH, VA.: In 2001, Awlaki and the San Diego hijackers turned up together again — this time at the Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center, a Pentagon-area mosque built with funds from the Saudi Embassy. Awlaki was recruited 3,000 miles away to head the mosque. As its imam, Awlaki helped the hijackers, who showed up at his doorstep as if on cue. He tasked a handler to help them acquire apartments and IDs before they attacked the Pentagon.
Awlaki worked closely with the Saudi Embassy. He lectured at a Saudi Islamic think tank in Merrifield, Va., chaired by Bandar. Saudi travel itinerary documents I’ve obtained show he also served as the official imam on Saudi Embassy-sponsored trips to Mecca and tours of Saudi holy sites.
Most suspiciously, though, Awlaki fled the United States on a Saudi jet about a year after 9/11.
As I first reported in my book, “Infiltration,” quoting from classified US documents, the Saudi-sponsored cleric was briefly detained at JFK before being released into the custody of a “Saudi representative.” A federal warrant for Awlaki’s arrest had mysteriously been withdrawn the previous day. A US drone killed Awlaki in Yemen in 2011.
HERNDON, VA.: On the eve of the attacks, top Saudi government official Saleh Hussayen checked into the same Marriott Residence Inn near Dulles Airport as three of the Saudi hijackers who targeted the Pentagon. Hussayen had left a nearby hotel to move into the hijackers’ hotel. Did he meet with them? The FBI never found out. They let him go after he “feigned a seizure,” one agent recalled. (Hussayen’s name doesn’t appear in the separate 9/11 Commission Report, which clears the Saudis.)
SARASOTA, FLA.: 9/11 ringleader Mohamed Atta and other hijackers visited a home owned by Esam Ghazzawi, a Saudi adviser to the nephew of King Fahd. FBI agents investigating the connection in 2002 found that visitor logs for the gated community and photos of license tags matched vehicles driven by the hijackers. Just two weeks before the 9/11 attacks, the Saudi luxury home was abandoned. Three cars, including a new Chrysler PT Cruiser, were left in the driveway. Inside, opulent furniture was untouched.
Democrat Bob Graham, the former Florida senator who chaired the Joint Inquiry, has asked the FBI for the Sarasota case files, but can’t get a single, even heavily redacted, page released. He says it’s a “coverup.”
Is the federal government protecting the Saudis? Case agents tell me they were repeatedly called off pursuing 9/11 leads back to the Saudi Embassy, which had curious sway over White House and FBI responses to the attacks.
Just days after Bush met with the Saudi ambassador in the White House, the FBI evacuated from the United States dozens of Saudi officials, as well as Osama bin Laden family members. Bandar made the request for escorts directly to FBI headquarters on Sept. 13, 2001 — just hours after he met with the president. The two old family friends shared cigars on the Truman Balcony while discussing the attacks.
Bill Doyle, who lost his son in the World Trade Center attacks and heads the Coalition of 9/11 Families, calls the suppression of Saudi evidence a “coverup beyond belief.” Last week, he sent out an e-mail to relatives urging them to phone their representatives in Congress to support the resolution and read for themselves the censored 28 pages.
Astonishing as that sounds, few lawmakers in fact have bothered to read the classified section of arguably the most important investigation in US history.
Granted, it’s not easy to do. It took a monthlong letter-writing campaign by Jones and Lynch to convince the House intelligence panel to give them access to the material.
But it’s critical they take the time to read it and pressure the White House to let all Americans read it. This isn’t water under the bridge. The information is still relevant today. Pursuing leads further, getting to the bottom of the foreign support, could help head off another 9/11.
As the frustrated Joint Inquiry authors warned, in an overlooked addendum to their heavily redacted 2002 report, “State-sponsored terrorism substantially increases the likelihood of successful and more lethal attacks within the United States.”
Their findings must be released, even if they forever change US-Saudi relations. If an oil-rich foreign power was capable of orchestrating simultaneous bulls-eye hits on our centers of commerce and defense a dozen years ago, it may be able to pull off similarly devastating attacks today.
Members of Congress reluctant to read the full report ought to remember that the 9/11 assault missed its fourth target: them.

I recall Obama shortly before getting his second election, leaning over to the Russian diplomat and whispering to him (thinking he was off mic) "tell Vladamir that I will be flexible once I am re-elected". My point is, America is not repeatedly in sound prophecy for future events. Russia clearly is.

I was heavily involved in exposing pedophilia in the US in the church before it became public. In not one apparition that I am aware of, did the Blessed Mother warn anyone about it. All those kids, not one mention of it. I feel this issue is very similar. Whoever is going to drop the nukes is not the issue when the above facts are pointed out. Millions have already died and suffered at the hands of the West/US/Zionist world masters. Most of the world's wars at this time have been started by the previously mentioned parties, not Russia.

 

The ONLY sound prophecy I have seen is at Fatima where Our Lady said Russia would error and nations would be annihilated. Atheism communisim and the persecution of the church was the error. And Soviet Empire raking over east Europe was the "annihilation" of nations. This all came true. Now at Medjugorje Our Lady said "Russia would come to Gloritfy God the most; the west has made civilization, but without God and act as if they are their own creators." This coming true. Medjuogjre Our Lady said is the continuation and fulfillment of Fatima. This is "the Great Prophecy" of our times

 

I think that if you refer to what Our Lady of Good Success said to Mother Mariana, you will see references to the priests of our day and the evil that some of them were to do.

"The Sacred Sacrament of Holy Orders would be ridiculed, oppressed and despised. The demon would labor unceasingly to corrupt the clergy and would succeed with many of them. And these "depraved priests, who will scandalize the Christian people, will incite the hatred of the bad Christians and the enemies of the Roman, Catholic and Apostolic Church to fall upon all priests. This apparent triumph of Satan will bring enormous sufferings upon the good pastors of the Church."

 

Wow, that was a really mild persecution by Russia if that is all it was. Not hardly worth all the effort of a collegial consecration it would seem to me. Not hardly a dent in comparison to WWII. So I guess the "era of peace" should be coming any day now since the consecration was done right 30 years ago?

 

Getting back to the topic, Medjugorje the Great Prophecy, I am not sure you can conclude that yet. I am all for Medjugorje, but it has not begun to reveal the 10 secrets yet. It will be "great" when these hidden prophecies become manifested and proven true.

 

Was is it that you don't buy? The Blessed Mother says Russia would convert to her heart if the consecration was performed - it was. Atheism collapsed - rapidly, peacefully. This was followed by an extraordinary religious revival that we witness today. To Mr. Fatima..What has always impressed me about Fatima is Our Lady came to peasant children, She came to them with simple messages. SHe showed them heaven, hell, and purgatory. She said Russia would error.
At Medjugorje, the Queen of peace came to six uneducated children and told them "Medjugorje is is the fulfilment of Fatiam" and that Russia would come to glorify God the most. We see incredible things going on in Russia and we see the West deny God. Keep it simple,, Do not look for tricks . Just have faith in our Church, Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mother.

There is on the one hand prophecy. There is on the other the interpretation of prophecy.

I have no problem with the prophecies of both Fatima and Medugorje that Russia will be converted.

None of us can claim ownership of these prophecies be claiming that our own particular interpretation of the timescale and application of these prophecies are the correct ones. It's something of a guessing game. I may be right, I may be wrong, equally you may be right, you may be wrong. None of us have a monopoly on the interpretation, none of can claim spiritual property rights on such interpretation.
My own understanding of these prophesies and it is a tentative one is that Russia is not yet converted. I may be right in this I may be wrong but I do have my reasons for thinking so.

During, 'The Great Patriotic War' (The Nazis invasion of the Soviet Union) Joseph Stalin dropped restrictions on the Orthodox Church in order to harness support for the war effort. Stalin one of the great mass murderers in all history was portrayed as something of a saviour and icons of him were even produced.



He was, effectively canonised, whilst yet living.

After the downfall of the Soviet Union the oligarch's ( like Putin) the vulture gangsters fell on the riches of Russia and stole them for themselves leading to the greatest and most successful criminal gangster state in the entire history of the world , Vladimr Putin being himself the most successful criminal leader the world has ever seen.

Like Joe Stalin before him Vladimir Putin has sought and sought successfully canonisation and blessing from the Orthodox Church to back his rule. Support which he has got in abundance.



This in my view is not conversion but mass perversion. If a true saint like Padre Pio had got anywhere near Putin he would have chased him rather than hugged him.


We saw a somewhat similiar phenomena in Italy and the USA were Italian Mafia leaders sought the blessings of the Church; a support so well exemplified by 'The Godfather' series of films.

As for the criminal Mastermind's (Putin) much vaunted, 'Support' for persecuted Christians in the Middle East, well he has talked the talk I grant you, but what in actual real , concrete, terms has he actually done?

 

What has Putin done for the Christians?
He outsmarted Obama and John Kerry .. called Kerry's bluff on removing chemical weapons which ended talks of missile threats, More subtlety, more America now know that Al queda is behind many of the rebels in syria. Lindsey Graham and John MCain stooges for the neo cons did not get there "regime change" which would have led to the slaughter of untold number of Chritisans. Also Our Lady at Medjugorje has said "Prayer can end war" Pope Francis as we all know asked the world to pray just days before Obama backed down.

 

Our lady said in 1981 - "Russia would come to glorify God the most; the west has made civilization progress but without God and act as if they are their own creator." This is "The Great Prophecy" of Medjugorje. Just think about those words. Think about today and then understand these words were said in 1981 just a few months after the Soviet Union tried to assassinate JPII. Nobody predicted the current state of the world with respect to belief in God except the Virgin Mary- nobody.

The west began the events that have already led to a chastisement of Christians in the Middle East. The invasion of Iraq led to over a million Christians going to syria and Lebanon. In Syria these same Christian are now being murdered and raped. American turns away, Russia speaks for the persecuted Christians,
Russia is returning to God. Russia is restoring Orthodox Churches with tax dollars, Russia is naming submarines and battleships after Russian saints, Russia has a special paratrooper team that is trained to jump into war zones with portable chapels decorated with icons of the Virgin Mary.

The USA celebrates Miley Cyrus and Russia punishes a female rock group called "Pussy Riot" for desecrating a great Cathedral. Ironically Pussy Riots songs was a prayer to the virgin mary to throw Putin out of power.
I could go on and this is not a plug for my book (it is a novel) but I have spent the last five years of my life understanding and writing about the mysterious rise of religion in Russia. This will sound crazy but it is true: I was writing a book about Medjugorje - a novel. I had been stuck on where to go with the plot. In the middle of the night I woke up after hearing a female voice say "Write about Putin's crucifix" And so I did and the book got finished. (Putin wears a cross around his neck)
One other anecdote. Christopher Hitchens, just before he died, said Russia was the only country on earth that was experiencing a religious revival.

By the way I really like this forum.. Opposing views can be discussed without going "nuclear" thank you to those who run this board.

Off course Putin opposed the USA on Syria, just he opposed them on Egypt and Libya. It is the great game of global chess. Off course also he claimed as one of his reasons for doing so the persecution of Christians.

Putin like all politicians says many things. But I would suspect his actions on Syria had much more to do with Global Chess. I am uneasy with any interpretation that would place Putin as the Global good guy, a kind of modern day Crusader. If he had come calling on Padre Pio he would I am sure chased him down the Friary Road waving a black thorn stick. I suspect he would have chased President Obama the exact same way.

We all of us have a need of heroes. The problem is there is not so many of them knocking about. I still have hope and believe real conversion is a possibility. If Putin gave up his ill gotten gains I would buy into all this. This surrender of stolen goods before acceptance of true repentance is a basic tenet of Catholic Moral Theology. If I go to the priest in confession and tell him I robbed a bank I have to have given back the dough before I get absolution. Putin is one of the biggest robber barons in history. Let him give the dough back and I'll buy it.

Of course many Orthodox Bishops have bought into all this as Prelates throughout history have shamefully bought into the guys who hold power. The very same kinda guys who worked as KGB agents for the Soviets in the past. The one's who kiss ass to power. It is the way of the world.

It is always the little guys the same, little , humble, holy guys like Padre Pio who send them chasing with their tails between their legs. We saw the same thing , the same buying into the men of power in the USA when President Obama was shamefully asked to give an address at Notre Dame.

I don't but that either. Neither would have Padre Pio. The same goes for Bishops and priests who hand out the Body of Christ to pro abortionists like so much candy.

As I wrote a couple of times before on this thread I believe Russia will convert and as Padre Pio said I believe it will be very fast. I also believe the seeds of conversion have already been sown and are bearing some fruit.
I also believe that Mary has been drawing you to Russia as it is central to God's plans.

However I go back to my previous question; how do you weight the soul of a Nation? Is it through the Kremlin, through the rich and powerful, through Patriarches and Bishops, through the intelligensia and the chattering classes? No I suspect it is where you would have found the truth 2,000 years ago amongst the poor and humble staring down at a little bay in a crib in Bethlehem.

I heard something so interesting from an unbelieving journalist who visited Russia a few week back and mentioned meeting ordinary Belivers in Churches around Moscow. She was very struck in speaking to them that over and over again they evinced the firm belief that all the rulers the rich oligarches that run the place would be going straight to hell. As someone who did not have Faith she was amazed they would look at things this way.

But it is the Faith and disposition of ordinary people like this that most impresses me. Not the Putins and the Bishops. For it is here in the soul of Mother Russia amongst the poor ordinary elievers that the great conversion when it comes..and it will..will come. But beofre that great war, a huge shedding of blood.

Russia will be reborn; but it will be in a baptism of blood.

 

Perhaps it is Russia's heart that will be converted put the oligarchs will be the instrument of the chastisements.

As i said earlier Our Lady reveals herself to the simple and the uneducated - children and a peasant Indian.

I take Our Lady at her simple direct words..and if I look at Russia simply i.e. the people and the rulers speak about God while in the USA we can barely say Merry Christmas in public I see a great truth unfolding.

You are preaching to the choir on this. Everyone knows Russia will be converted. Everyone knows that Russia will be a beacon to the rest of the world after their conversion. The key word here is will be! Russia is not converted yet and morally a long ways from conversion. As Padre Pio said, their "conversion will be very fast". It has been 3 decades since the alleged "valid" consecration to Russia in 1984. 30 years is a long time for a "very fast conversion". There have always been very good and holy Russian people. It is their brutal leadership that has been evil for well over a century now. When Russia is converted the whole world will know. No one on this forum will have the least doubt that it took place. If you take in the other prophecy that I quoted early on this thread you will then see the timetable for Russia's conversion.

My intuition is that you may both be right in a way. There certainly does seem to be an ongoing revival of faith in Russia (I am for example enthusiastic about Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev - whom I had the privilege of meeting very briefly in Rome last month - and his role in promoting Orthodox-Catholic reconciliation), but this does not necessarily mean that the political leadership are sincere in recouping it. Your point about Stalin during World War II is well-taken, Padraig.

Vladimir Putin remains an enigma; I don't want to rule out the possibility that his public statements about religion are genuine, but judging by his track record that possibility seems remote. Having read the final writings of Anna Politkovskaïa and having friends who were involved in the campaign to free Mikhail Khodorkovsky, my sense is that the current Russian régime is one with a great deal on its conscience. Until I see evidence of repentance for its political misdemeanours the feeling is unavoidable that the current moralizing tone of Putin is opportunism intended to take full advantage of the (justified) moral exposure of the West. It is surely no coincidence that this comes at a time when it is obvious that the US is losing its world leadership position, just as the US dollar is poised to lose its status as the global reserve currency (these two things are closely linked).
