I just received this e-mail... Subject: Medjugorje public visit has been banned by the Church, please read My dear Catholic friends, Thank you for reading this e-mail. I know some of you well and some of you not so well. Yet this is very, very important that you get the words out immediately. The Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) of the Catholic Church has banned public celebration at Medjugorje, as of today. Moreover, all faithful are instructed not to go and participate in it. In other words, if you are planning to go to Medjugorje for the purpose of public pilgrimage, DON"T GO THERE! The Church has banned it! Here is the quote from CDF: “The Congregation (for the Doctrine of the Faith) has affirmed that, with regard to the credibility of the 'apparitions' in question, all should accept the declaration … which asserts: 'On the basis of the research that has been done, it is not possible to state that there were apparitions or supernatural revelations,' “It follows, therefore, that clerics and the faithful are not permitted to participate in meetings, conferences or public celebrations during which the credibility of such 'apparitions' would be taken for granted.” Several of you, my friends, here, are clerics. I am quite sure you will hear from your bishops shortly (if you have not already). It is left to you to do the terribly, terribly difficult job of telling your congregation about this. Will pray for you! Here is the link from the Catholic News Agency: http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/cdf-bars-participation-in-events-assuming-truth-of-medjugorje/ Please re-post this by Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc. Please do forward this e-mail to your Catholic friends. Please tell them strongly not to spend money going to Medjugorje, as now there is a reasonable chance that the Church is in the process of declaring the Medjugorje event as inauthentic. My God bless you, Ching
What you are saying is wishful thinking... http://www.medjugorjetoday.tv/10137/arranger-expects-good-news-after-ban/
THIS IS NOT GOING TO SIT WELL WITH POPE FRANCIS Why do I say this? Anyone who is associated with the Communita Cennacolo will tell you this. To have the community in your diocese, think Cardinal Christoph Schonborn, the bishop has to ask them to come in. Only the most marian bishops have done this. Here in the US, Bishop Robert Baker from, at that time ,St Augustine Fla went to the vatican and was looking for a program for "lost" young adults. It is the program that has helped form countless "prodigal sons". The person in charge in the America's is Albino (can't remember his last name at this moment). He went thru the Medj house 22 years ago (was a drug lord in Italy) after helping build it. The guys house is on one side of apparition mountain and the girl's house on the other side with the Blessed Mother in between them. Anyway, my son was at Medj and they host a couple big events there. The nun who started the community, Mother Elvira Petrozzi is a living saint as well as everyone I have met associated with this community. Medj is a major part of the community. My oldest son went on an "experience" to the house in Buenos Aires, Cardinal Bergoglio's at that time, for 3 months. I am currently praying the novena to the Blessed Mother Untier of Knots where she is proclaimed to be the mediatrix of grace. Someone in the church is trying to undue her mediatrix here. The pope will not stand for it.
Elisa,..could you please explain to me what you mean by your comment....What you are saying is wishful thinking ??
I view it based on the link provided that it is wishful thinking to think it is not going to be approved.
I thought the ban just pertained to public celebrations in the US, not actually in Medjugorje. I think Ching has misinterpreted it......the letter was for the US bishops from the US papal nuncio.
I would take it as a very limited shot across the bow to warn folks not to be taking the Church's acceptance to much for granted. Not to be eating the chicken till the chicken is caught and cooked so to speak. I would not read into it too much, a shot across the bow rather than a torpedo under the waterline. Watch and pray
I'm not sure how Ching came to the conclusion there is a ban on Medjugorje based on the article supplied other than this statement...In 1991, the bishops of the former Yugoslavia had determined that it is not possible to say there were Marian apparitions at the site. In 2010, the Vatican established a commission to further investigate “doctrinal and disciplinary aspects of the phenomenon of Medjugorje.” Because that commission is still in the process of its investigation, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has established that the judgment of the Yugoslavian bishops be accepted. I don't know Ching personally,...and I just forwarded the letter as requested,..so I guess it is being circulated. There were many on the list,..mostly Pro-lifers fighting for the cause and many who believe in Medjugorje. We sure are living in confusing times. It really is hard to know which way things will go depending on who is doing the investigation. I do hope it will be approved, but nothing surprises me anymore. I think the most important thing is to be strong in the faith, no matter what happens.
Thankyou, Steve. I had missed this. Conry's comments are not a surprise - he's been a protestant in a Roman collar for about 20 years now as far as I can recall. He would never support HV. However, Archbishop Longley's comments (or rather, the reporting of them) is a new departure. I would be v surprised if he supported inter-faith Eucharist. It would just not get a vote. yet, nothing would surprise me anymore about the E/W Bishops. There definitely is a gay mafia agenda at work in the church. I had thought that Longley was sensible enough to keep his head down and stick to Church Teaching. It looks tome as though he was ambushed after some ecumenical event and his off the cuff remarks have been remoulded into some statement on doctrine. I would dismiss it, but keep a close eye on it for any further remarks. I do thankyou for bringing this to our attention.
Your correspondent has mis-read the letter from the CDF. The "ban" applies to visits of the Medjugorje visionaries to the US only. Individuals and groups are still welcome to visit the town of Medjugorje itself. The CDF letter did not put apparitions in inverted commas either. This would prejudice the outcome of their on-going investigations. There will be no "terribly, terribly difficult job" for anyone in passing on this instruction. Faithful Catholics actually do follow the Pope. So there, that's all settled. Would anyone like to pray a rosary ?
Yep. It was me. I heard him say it. Our Lady told him this was her Pope and he was a good one! I have 100% confidence!!
At this moment I am a firm believer in Medjugorje. That being said, if it is proved to be invalid then I have no problem with accepting that. Let's be real, outside of various miracles that have taken place there, there is very little prophecy that has come from there to date. I am not even sure how thier prophecy, if and when it does happen, will manifest itself. I assume that with 6 seers and 10 messages each (possible 60 messages), that they will be rattling them off left and right when they are given the 'green light'. We have so much prophecy from Fatima and Akita that anything we get from Garabandal and/or Medjugorje will be 'overload' in some respect. I think LTTW is a 'play by play' alleged locution, can you imagine what Medjugorje will be like if/when it starts being revealed? All very interesting, but really, we all know we are headed for the worst times the world has ever seen. Do we really want to know more details of our fate?
There are only ten 'Secrets' in total according to the alleged visionaries, not 10 for each visionary. The proof will be when the alleged visionaries start to give notice of the unfolding of the secrets, if the first one fails, the whole edifice falls. If the first one happens as predicted and is not something that could have been predicted by human knowledge then the whole world would be wise to take notice and to wait for notice of the second and subsequent 'secrets'. I am in a difficult situation here because I have seen several supernatural things there that I am convinced have been to my spiritual benefit. Without going into all the details, one of the most notable things was that, on returning from my first visit to Medj. I was unable to argue with anyone about anything for several weeks and I am normally quite ready for a 'row'. I felt overcome by peace which is what the place is all about. As to prophecy, I was telling people that the borders of the Communist countries were about to open several years before they did because those (then very unlikely) events were prophesied there. And it happened to the amazement of some people that I told.
It is true that there is very little, actually very close to no prophecy coming from Medjugorje. But to me, this adds credibility to it, since at the end of the day, an apparition should call one to conversion and maybe a little warning about the future but not predict the future. To me, Medjugorje is all about calling all to conversion with an urgency to do so because of the 10 secrets. Each seer has there own set of 10 secrets, but really the only ones we need to be concerned with are the 10 secrets for the world given to Mirjana. The rest are secrets for each individual seer and therefore not our concern and they will not be announced. It's disappointing to hear of all Medjugorje talks, conferences, cancelled in the US. It may or may not be a foreshadowing of the conclusion of the Medj commission. I don't know but either way I will obey what the church decides and if Medj is true, then it will have to be proven true through the fulfillment of the 10 secrets. Of course I believe it's true in my heart since my conversion is a direct result of Medjugorje and the big grace I got from my pilgrimage there was the ability to forgive some who had hurt my family very badly. It wouldn't surprise me at all if it were condemned to some degree before proving itself true through the secrets. No matter what happens God is in control and His plan will be fulfilled.
Summary of the Ten Secrets: The following is just a brief summary of the most important points about the Ten Secrets. These points are taken from the more detailed information in this section about the Ten Secrets. Even though Our Lady does not speak a lot about the secrets, She does speak about them, so they are an important part of Our Lady’s plans in Medjugorje. The visionaries tell us that everything Our Lady does has profound meaning. If Our Lady has chosen to give the six visionaries ten secrets that will be used to bring worldwide conversion to the world, we need to pay attention to what She has said and done in regard to the secrets which have yet to be revealed. There are those who want to hush talk about the secrets. The question should then be posed, “Why did Our Lady let the visionaries tell that they have secrets?” Our Lady, while not wanting at this moment to reveal their contents, does want us to know there are 10 secrets, and we know enough that some are very grave. Yes, Our Lady wants very much for us to know there are secrets and for that knowledge to be an impulse for conversion now, not to wait for the secrets, because then it will be too late for many. So to those who say there should be no interest in the secrets or that one should not wonder about them, this is a contradiction of Our Lady’s intent that Her children know about the secrets. • Our Lady is giving Ten Secrets to the Medjugorje visionaries that will bring worldwide conversion to the world. • God is giving so much time for these apparitions, so that all may come to conversion. • Three of the visionaries, Mirjana, Ivanka, and Jakov have all ten secrets and no longer see Our Lady daily. • Marija, Vicka, and Ivan have nine secrets. • The third secret will be a lasting sign on Apparition Mountain that will be permanent, indestructible, and beautiful and will appear spontaneously. • The sign will appear on the mountain in such a way that unbelievers won’t have words to say what it is. • The sign will be something that has never been on the earth before. • Part of the seventh secret has been mitigated through prayer and fasting. • Mirjana is the visionary whom Our Lady gave the responsibility to reveal the secrets. • Fr. Petar Ljubicic is the priest chosen by Mirjana to reveal the secrets to the world. • Fr. Petar will read each secret ten days before it occurs. He will fast for 7 days. Three days before the secret happens, he will announce it to the world. • Fr. Petar says he will read the secrets to the world. • Mirjana received a physical parchment from Our Lady with the ten secrets written on it, as well as the day and date each of them will occur. • During the time of the ten secrets, one of the visionaries will still have daily apparitions. • Not all the secrets are the same for all the visionaries. Some of Ivan and Vicka’s secrets are personal ones for them.
Bella,.My correspondence may have misinterpreted the letter,..but I think maybe you have misunderstood what he meant by the terribly, terribly difficult job...what is expected to happen soon maybe this weekend,.the Bishops of the U.S. will be sending out letters to the priests, so they can inform the parishioners about the ban,..and that will be a difficult thing to do,..as many feel in their hearts Medjugorje to be authentic. And yes faithful Catholics do follow the Pope. And yes I'll join you for another rosary
I'm not sure I really follow the logic here. Does anyone understand what this priest is saying? http://www.medjugorje.com
mother superior, what you are telling here is very, very important, and we'd like to do an article about it at Medjugorje Today (given the timing and the substance of what you are telling here, such an article will be read by thousands of people). I have a few additional questions, and so I'll kindly ask you to send me a mail at mailmary12@yahoo.dk . Thank you so much and God bless you all. Jakob Marschner, Editor Medjugorje Today
I see that others answered the question: it is in fact wishful thinking because Chings claims that "The Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) of the Catholic Church has banned public celebration at Medjugorje, as of today. Moreover, all faithful are instructed not to go and participate in it. In other words, if you are planning to go to Medjugorje for the purpose of public pilgrimage, DON"T GO THERE! The Church has banned it! and that is, of course, not true because there is an interdiction for Ivan to have public conferences in the USA only, not in Medjugorje or elsewhere. And we are still allowed to go to Medjugorje....
Indeed, we are living in confusing times. Let's hope and pray that everything will turn in a positive way: http://www.medjugorjetoday.tv/10137/arranger-expects-good-news-after-ban/
