Our Lady’s Queen of Peace of Medjugorje’s May 2, 2010 Message Given to Mirjana Soldo on the Day for Nonbelievers: A beautiful and awe-inspiring message that only a Mother couold give! “Dear children; Today, through me, the good Father calls you to, with your soul filled with love, set out on a spiritual visitation. Dear children, be filled with grace, sincerely repent for your sins and yearn for the good. Yearn also in the name of those who have not come to know the perfection of the good. You will be more pleasing to God. Thank you.”
Mary is the messanger of God the Father to call his children back to the fold with sincere and perfect contrition for our sins in the sacrament of confession where we encounter Jesus Christ, saviour, son of Mary and Son of the Father. Unless we 'think often of the Passion of Jesus' [reciting the Sorrowful mysteries daily] we cannot understand the true nature of our sins. Christ's whole life was an act of redemptive love. The incarnation of the second person of the Holy Trinity in the womb of Mary is the act of supreme humilty: Christ the zygote, embryo, fetus, baby, child, boy, teenager, adult in all of wisdom and at each stage the loving God. The visitation of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth is a joyous celebration of life and love and the power of the Holy Spirit is manifest as upon hearing the voice of Mary, Theotokos, the child [John the Baptist] leapt in Elizabeth's womb - the Baptist was sanctified in the womb of his mother. We too must be baptised in the Holy Spirit and filled with grace so that all our encounters will be sanctified and become a spiritual visitations - every act a loving act - our hands filled with good works, 'the least you do for these my brethern you do unto me' - a kind word, a hug, a loving glance, self-giving acts are truely spiritual visitations and encounters with divine love; but we must yearn to be like Christ and reflect his glory, we must yearn for the good and by our example inspire others who have not come to know the perfection of the good. We must seek first the kingdom of God and all will be given to us, we must desire to be sanctified and baptised in the love of God, and seek the face of God, 'as the deer pants for the water so my soul it longs for you'. It takes a life-time to unwrap the gift of our baptism but if we cooperate with divine grace through the sacraments and prayer we will live a life full of grace and sincerely yearn for the good and persevere in overcoming our imperfections then we will live a life pleasing to God and he will say upon our death 'well done you good and faithful servant'. Many are the hidden saints who have lived simple, yet holy lives.
A friend told me the other day that the first apparition at Medugorgje occured on the Feast Day of Saint John the Baptist. I had never heard this before, but if so it seems very significant.
Welcome back Padraig! John the Baptist's feast day is June 24th and yes it is no coincidence. I think this message of 2nd May for unbelievers is incredibly deep and powerful and worth praying over. I feel the messages of Medjugorje are getting to a very deep and profound spiritual meaning; at an advanced level of teaching in holiness - I suppose after almost 30 years of messages we should be on the solid food but sometimes we need milk!! John the Baptist - he lost his head for the faith! [Sorry!]. Perhaps, this is also significant. I also think this message of 2 May is linked to the message of 18 March 2010 when our Lady told us all to 'pray for the gift of love' I think this is the same gift given to John the Baptist in the womb, to the gift of the spirit given to the Apostles at Pentecost; a kind of rebirth in the spiritual sense; the power and love of the Holy Spirit that we see manifest so clearly in the Visitation of Mother Mary to her cousin Elizabeth. The feast of the Visitation has always been my favourite portion of the Bible - I have read it many, many times and just get caught up in the beautiful drama. The feast of the Visitation is 31 May and that is my birthday!!
