Thanks, Glenn. I'm mostly a reader, and not a poster, and have no idea how much of this works (how the heck you know I'm from Norwich, I have zero idea....as I don't recall ever typing in anything but name, password and birthdate). I've been popping in to this site, for some time.
Hi Mark. Padraig knows where you are from because moderators can see all members IP (your computer internet address). We need to check into these and have these because some who try to join are bots or computers looking to spam so we have to have IP addresses in case a spammer joins and we need to ban them using an IP address. Without banning an IP address any spammer could just try to rejoin and spam again using a different user name. Your IP address tells the world where you are from. I hope this helps. Yes it is but don't be alarmed. The IP address only shows the town you have your internet service provider and not your actual address.
