I agree Josephite that God will not abandon his church " I am with you always" but the concern is for the many who abandon God. Sometimes I get annoyed with the way Simon Peter is treated like a weak coward and a fool. He was a hard working fisherman, probably a family man, who was brave enough to jump into a raging sea and trust in Jesus. He just didnt trust the storm. To his human eyes it seemed more powerful than any man and he was not yet convinced of the Divinity of Christ. He was loyal and brave enough to put his life on the line in Gethsemane when he drew his sword in defence of Jesus against overwhelming odds and brave enough and obedient enough to put his sword away and leave himself defenceless in the face of armed soldiers. He had the humility to truly weep for his sins and the faith that he would be forgiven. He was imprisoned, suffered and died for his Faith in Jesus. He was not simply some frail human being but a real man, prey to all the challenges that each one of us have to face, and he never gave up. He made one mistake, terrified by what they did to his Lord and probably thinking he was next. I have been in situations when i have had to act quickly to defend a friend and got stabbed in the process and to dive in stormy waters and drag a man off sharp rocks. I did not have time to think in these situations and rose well to the occasion. I have also been trapped in a situation where having witnessed the effect of torture on others was overwhelmed with fear. This is probably what happened to Peter. One mistake but in his case he was labelled a coward and a traitor. Nothing could be further from the truth. He just paniced. Certainly God's promise did not depend on "poor fallible Peter." It depended on Peter the Fisherman who was familiar with the power of nature and still jumped into the water. Peter the Fisherman who so loved His Lord that he gave his life for Him. Peter the Fisherman who gave up everything to follow Him. This is the man on whom God conferred His power and authority the man into whose care God entrusted his Church. "Thou art Peter and upon this ROCK I will build my Church " A truly solid foundation, well chosen and well placed by the Master Builder. This is my Pope, my Church.
This is my Rock, My Pope, My Church. Amen! We come to the same definition by different means but arrive at the same answer! BTW, St Peter's; fortitude, his repentance, his love, his belief, his obedience, his belief, his wisdom, and much more..... This is what I aspire to. St Peter is the original 'man for all seasons'. And I love him. St Peter, Pray for us now and for our Lord Jesus's Christ's Church, now, as we are in a great time of need. Amen.
I know what you mean about looking more Protestant. I was raised Byzantine Catholic but I have been going to the Roman rite church for many years now. I can't get over how they are trying too hard to please Protestants instead of being authentically Catholic. I have often wondered if this is only in the USA or is it everwhere.
This was what I meant by her being hi-jacked. The same kind of thing is happening to Pope Francis, every body wants a piece of him
I don't think she's talking about Novus Ordo either but something in the future. But I do think that many church have been remodeled to look more Protestant. Strpping the altars so to speak. The tabernacle used to be the center of everything. Now it is on a side alter, kind of like a secondary after thought. As far as the Mass, I can't think of any part that can be called odious.
If you asked the Sede's they will surely tell you it was all about Vatican II, but we know it is not. It is about the abomination of desolation, the false pope and Antichrist (that Verne Dagenais messages elaborate on), which is what Marie-Julie Jahennys prophecy speaks of.
I see Pope Francis is about to be tried by the Jewish Sanhedrin for having recognized the State of Palestine. He has been warned that the verdict may endanger him.
