I've just spent a 3 day pilgrimage on Lough Derg and I must say it has been one of the spiritual highlights of my life. The spiritual excercises -as they call them- are really challenging but I was filled with joy the whole time, it's not often I have such joy. It has the name of being the toughest place of penance in Europe if not the entire world... Have many ppl from here been there I wonder? I'd love to hear of your experiences.. BC
I have done the three day pilgrimage in the past two years but could not manage it this year. Yes I know that great feeling leaving the Island. the peace of mind and the joy to be in such a spiritual place. with no distractions from the outside world. A place of pure prayer.. Please God I will get there next year for the three day pilgrimage.. Please give my regards to Our Lady of Knock tomorrow.
I so much want to make a pilgrimage to Lough Derg...Border collie you a lucky to live in Ireland. Me and my wife are celebrating our 25th anniversary next year and are talking about going to Ireland. All her people are of Irish desent...I'm only a quarter...with Italian, Belgian and English to finish it off...much like a mutt arff arff. I 've only seen limited info on the net. Any adviso's would be much appreciated. Thanks again!
You both would be very welcome to Ireland Timothius722. . If you are coming over I would advise reading up as much as possible on it and do out a plan for your days.. it is a small country but lots in it, spiritual and otherwise! Being a mutt isn't so bad... mutts live longer and get fewer viruses
