So interesting to read all of this and watch the world try to come up with explanations. There are always fish die-offs, for a slew of reasons, usually one or two species only. Our own little lake had a bad die off a couple of years ago, and it was never difinitively determined what exactly caused it. Can be a pollutant, or a disease, or overcrowding, or a genetic flaw. It brought a huge flock of over 300 seagulls to our little subdivision lake though to eat them, and more blue herons than we have ever seen! So nature has a way of taking care of these things in spite of us (like the one guy said the geese and mallards were eating the dying fish though they normally wouldn't) Never before and never since have we had a flock of seagulls stay here on our little lake. Only the occasional rogue that flies off course between the great lakes and wherever they go inland along the Mississippi. Another lake we like to camp at had a really bad die-off about 3 years ago, again I never heard the cause, but it was almost all chubs and shiners. We were told that sometimes when a lake is artificially stocked, the fish will live a while, then suddenly all die...perhaps a disease or a breeding flaw at the fish farms is often blamed. I have never heard of these kinds of mass die-offs of birds though, unless caused by a disease like the West Nile epidemic a few years ago. One news group said these are common...I don't think so. I do however, like the explanation about the polor north magnetic shift...this could indeed cause confusion in migrating birds, and may cause them to fly too far because they "miss" their intended roost. If this happens, they will literally fly until they drop, and they will probably all drop together, tiring out at roughly the same time. If the magnetic shift is happening so fast now that airports are closing runways to change the GPS numbers, then this would be a really plausible explanation for the bird-thing happening now, during the migration season. We just need to always remember that God works through His nature (yes, HIS nature, not ours), using natural things in what to us may seem like a supernatural way (remember, there is still "natural" in supernatural). So, as he continues to orchestrate these things, man will continue to find natural theories and explanations for them, but that does not in any way eliminate God's hand from the equasion. Just like all the evolution vs. creation arguments...again, God uses the nature of his creations as his tools for further works...doesn't shake my faith one bit to think of everything this way. Faith is the word, and the key. To strive understand nature is to do what God wants us to do too, he wants us to grow and to "evolve" to a better conciousness and understanding. I believe He wants science to continue to question and discover and find answers that we can understand. It helps us grow in a natural way too. So let them look, and let them solve the mysteries. It is still God at the reigns and it is still God who started it all in motion. He can alter the natural laws, but then so can we with prayer, Mary tells us! Maybe someday man will figure that out too, how the power of prayer can change the world around us. I am as interested as any scientist, I love to try to understand these things in a physical sense. But still, it is God who created the means by which it all works, and that is the piece they will never be able to fully decipher. But that doesn't mean they should stop trying to solve things, and I believe that God wants us to try, it is a spark in us that keeps us reaching, and wondering, and living with drive. I think eventually - some day - they will accept that place where God fits, stop trying to eliminate it, and start leaving it "in". They will realize that there needs to be a "God" element on the periodic table, a "God" derivitive in the equasion, a "God" ingedient in the formula. Then their theories will work! Thoughful & insightful post Moms Calling! The God ingredient may well be LOVE! Jesus said if we had faith the size of a mustard seed we could move mountains --- there are other verses like this where Jesus challenges us to have faith -- and our Blessed Mother says faith and prayer can stop wars. Isn't that an incredibly powerful endorsement of prayer? Older folks in our country used to pray for good weather when the world was more agricultural - they trusted in divine goodness to provide but I am sure they must have wondered in the 1840s when Ireland was devastated by the potato Famine <but then there was enough food but the British with-held it and exported most of it hence the Irish called it 'An Gorta Mor' - The Great Hunger>. I have a friend who lives only by Divine Providence with 5 children and God provides [sometimes though at the last minute to test his faith] & he has been living like this for years. Jesus did say God provides for the sparrows but that we are much greater --- he can look after us but this kind of trust is not easy! There is a real mystery in all of this - how faith and prayer works in reality? I think Love is the key to all of this in the sense faith, prayer, are gifts but we are told the greatest gift is Charity/Love. It is Love that can move mountains - but I believe a human heart can be much more difficult to move sometimes than a mountain. The greatest miracle on earth has to be the conversion of a heart - a heart that was once plunged in the darkness of mortal sin transformed into love by supernatual and sanctifying grace is an incredible miracle of grace!!. So perhaps, prayer with love, faith with love and works with love are the means of working miracles. For example Padre Pio was able to bilocate on occassions when he was called in prayer to intercede for a particular person his heart was literally moved with love to reach out in selfless charity to the needy sinner. When we pray/intercede/worship I think we enter the Holy Sanctuary of Heaven ourselves <in a supernatural spiritual way> so there is a form of bilocation there even though we may not be aware of it. When we worship the Holy Trinity and immerse ouselves in this kind of prayer -- then we are really beginning to pray -- particularly if we have trust/faith to believe in the promises of God. The curtain between this life and the next is thinner when we love from the heart. In fact when Jesus died on the cross the Curtain in the temple was rent in two as a symbol that Heaven was opened and we are free to enter by the grace of God. Some of the saints were/are able to go beyond the curtain and see the other side - angels, purgatory etc but to what extent God allows this or is this a natural progression of a saintly life? There is so much to learn in this wonderful mystical Catholic faith of ours - we should really soak up the lives of the saints to see what is possible in this life - too often we limit ourselves because we restrict faith within our own reason and because we live in a particular culture of unbelief. But this is when I get excited when I think of the power of Medjugorje <and here I may be expressing personal opinions> but Medjugorje is about our Lady converting the World not just a parish. That is clear from the monthly messages for unbelievers - we live in a paricular end time in world History characterised by unbelief. Our Lady does not call people athiests or agnostics but unbelievers! The unbelief in the world is so great that our Lady tells us that even after the Great Miracle of Medjugorje there will be still be some people who will not believe. Nevertheless, Medjugorje marks the beginning of the end of the age of unbelief which emerged out of the enlightenment which emerged out of the Protestant reformation - all leading to the decline of faith and the 'triumph of reason' over the last 300-400 years. The separation of faith and reason <which the devil has been behind> is like trying to separate the heat of the Sun from the Light of the Sun. Faith and reason are complimentary not contradictory as modernists want us to believe. The return of faith is at the Heart of the Medjugorje messages and those of us with faith are in for a 'treat' with the first three secrets because the indications are that although they are admonishments they will be particular and blessings by God. God is lavish with his grace. We have had the Sacred Heart revelations, the Divine Mercy Devotions and the appearances of our Blessed Mother - --- all beautiful graces -- but what is to come will heal and convert many millions of broken hearts -- for God is so, so merciful to us he is going to overwhelm us with his grace and love for His Heart bleeds for his broken children -- many, many people who live in sin will convert because they have been ignorant of the love of God but have been particularly wounded by the lack of family love-- but of course some people will still not convert. In particular, it may be religious people who will not convert after the Illumination especially the Jihadist Muslims and that will be a problem for the rest of us. And indeed the last 7 secrets are grave indeed for all of humanity both for those who do convert and for the sinners who do not. All this serves to purify humanity to prepare us for a new era. The transition will be difficult but the end product will be an era of peace with God and Man living in harmony. So in the Marian Age to come, post-Medjugorje, the Holy Spirit will be particularly at work in the world and we will have faith and reason working perfectly in harmony and the era of peace will be a splendid period of world history. Perhaps in the new era to come bilocation may be a common gift of the Holy Spirit :wink: I do believe the gifts of the Spirit will be at their zenith in the new era of peace during in the Eucharistic Reign of Christ the King.
Yay!.. I cannot wait!!! Unfortunately for us most likely the real enlightenment era will not come in our lifetimes, I sure wish it would. I would love to live in those times. But we were chosen to live in the time of preparation, in the time to try to help Mary, to convert and be converted. You may be right, Garabandal, people may all learn to bi-locate, and to do other "supernatural" things in this future, because why? Because they will leave God (Love) IN the equasions! Yes, you are right, God is Love! But he is more than that, and we cannot understand love yet, let alone God. I do not like to say that God is simply love, because then God can be perceived by those scientists as nothing more than an emotion caused by hormonal and chenical and electrical inpulses in the human body. So, Yes God is love, but love is not always only God...to love is to be like God, but not to actually be or "cause" God. Oops, there I go getting all sciency again... SO TRUE, so true!!! You hit it right on the head there! So many Catholics have forgotton the mystical side of our faith, it is great to see the young priests beginning to bring some of it back to us. And what you said about Medjugorje, yes, I agree, Mary is out to convert the whole world, but i do need to make a correction - not only does she not say "athiest" or any other label, remember she also does not say "unbelievers" either. That label is used by the visionaries to make it easier to explain to the world. The only thing Mary says is (something like), "Those who have not yet come to know my Son". And to those who have come to know Him, she calls them all her "Children", not her Catholic children, or her Christian children, even. She sets an example to all the world on non-labeling...my heroine!!!
Yes, our Lady refers often to those 'who do not [yet] know the love of God but she has used unbelievers on a couple of occasions: 9 February 1984 "Pray, pray! How many persons have followed other beliefs or sects and have abandoned Jesus Christ! They create their own gods; they adore idols. How that hurts me! If they could be converted! How unbelievers are in large numbers! That will change only if you help me with your prayers." 16 July 1984 "I pray for the priests and the parishioners, that no one may be troubled. I know the changes which will take place soon [in the parish clergy]. At the time of the changes, I will be there. Also, do not be afraid; there will be in the future signs concerning sinners, unbelievers, alcoholics, and young people. They will accept me again." 18 March 1988 Mirjana had an apparition on her birthday which lasted only four or five minutes: "One more time I beseech all of you to pray, to help by your prayers the unbelievers, those who do not have the grace to experience God in their hearts with a living faith. I do not want to threaten again! My wish is just to warn you all as a Mother. I beg you for people who do not know about the secrets.... I want to tell you how I suffer for all because I am the Mother of all." 2 Dec 2004 "Dear children, I need you. I am calling you and seek your help. Reconcile with yourself, with God, and with your neighbors. Then help me. Convert unbelievers. Dry the tears from my eyes."
Oh, I stand corrected! I was going by a comment Mirjana made to us during our pilgrimage, but I see now she has used that word in some of her messages. I am sorry I didn't realize that. In Medjugorje, you get that feeling of belief all around you. That was the first time I have ever felt anything like that so strong anywhere. Oh, wouldn't it be wonderful to feel that on the streets of our own home towns one day?
Our Lady most usually uses a phrase 'those who do no know God's love'. What a lovely way of looking at unbelief/athiesm - as you say our Lady always humanises everything and does not label. It is us humans who label others! Medjugorje is the most incredible place on earth. I would love to go back but cannot afford it at present. There is also a possibility that there are only a few years left of the Medjugorje apparitions so I might never get again . June 22nd 2011 marks the 30th anniversary.
They are building a huge hotel I believe? Something is up and I am probably going to miss it but it sounds like the permanant sign is about to appear. I shouldn't make guesses like that though- I'm always wrong and it gets me into trouble when I assume to much. Kath
Jakov just built one last year and it is operational now, and when we were there last spring, Mirjana began construction on a large hotel next to her house (right outside the window of our room - the construction was our alarm clock!) Right away I thought, Hmmm. Why now and not before, pilgrimages are down from several years ago (though they are increasing again). Anyway, when some were thinking the warning would happen last easter, I saw the hotel being started just before Easter, and it convinced me that it would not be last year. Mirjana knows the dates, so why build a hotel that won't be ready? My thought then was, until her hotel is up and running, the warning will not happen. I have been meaning to email and ask a friend I made in Medjugorje if her hotel is done yet...I should do that. Does anybody here know how it is coming? There are other hotels going up too, but the ones that the visionaries themselves are involved with would be the ones to really watch. At least while they are NOT done, we probably can be sure the warning will not happen. After they are done, well, then it is anybody's guess. If Mirjana's hotel is done now, then this spring could be a real possibility.

A common strand of Marian prophecy dating back to La Salette (1846) is that the earth and the heavens themselves will at some point cease to move regularly, signaling the onset of major tribulations. Any modern astrophysical explanations for strange heavenly phenomena will go out the window if and when multiple such phenomena are simultaneously witnessed in different parts of the world - what will bring hopeful expectation to Catholics devoted to Our Lady will strike sheer dismay or even horror in the hearts of atheists, agnostics, and even many Christians who have never thought outside the box of naturalism and scientism in their understanding of external events. My personal suspicion is that the Warning will be this spring. . . just as Our Lady of Garabandal prophesied, the Miracle will coincide with an event within the Church - I think this event will be none other than the beatification of John Paul II, which B16 has scheduled for May 2. Additionally, worldwide attention will likely be focused on the Church and JPII because of the crisis (most likely a worldwide economic meltdown) that will then be boiling over, which will lead to much scrutiny and re-evaluation of the prophecies of Fatima, Garabandal and Medjugorje - it will be all the more so because the day after the Miracle, May 13, the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, will mark the 30th anniversary of the attempt on JPII's life. Anyway, that's just my speculation. The big unknowns right now, in my mind, are: 1. What event will occur between now and the Warning that will cause many of the remaining devotees of Garabandal to fall away, as Our Lady had said? (I have speculated anything from a Church ruling to condemn Garabandal, as Ron Conte, Jr. mentions, to the sudden death of one of the persons who is widely thought to not die before the Miracle) 2. Will some of the horrific prophecies concerning key Catholic countries - i.e. an earthquake hitting Lisbon, Portugal and Naples, Italy - that Our Lady of Anguera has given to Pedro Regis be fulfilled before the Warning? I am particularly interested in Italy: this March 17 marks her 150th anniversary as a nation-state which, as Our Lady of La Salette said back in 1846, "would be punished for her pride" - she was doubtless referring to the Machieavellian takeover of the holy city of Rome by Italian nationalists in the 1860s, who directly offended the Holy Father Pius IX to end the temporal sovereignty of Holy Mother Church. We needn't look further than today's political scene in Italy - with Berlusconi and the clown-like power-elite culture - to see what chastisement they seem to require. 3. What's in store for America? Will Our Lady of Emmittsburg be vindicated by two suns appearing in the eastern USA? She is indeed disappointed with our country - we failed to respond sufficiently to her call to us as Our Lady of America in the 1950s, and instead of leading the world to peace, we have instead become a big cause of the world's spiritual leprosy. But I trust in Our Lady's mercy - if she gives signs that are unmistakable, it means she wants to give her children ample warning, possibly even before the great Warning of Garabandal. Emmittsburg is only about an hour from Washington DC and in fact hosts the Archdiocese of Washington's Seminary: Our Lady may want a special role in this coming crisis for not only Emmittsburg but also the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in downton Washington, which Our Lady of America showed an image of to Sr. Mildred (Mary Ephrem) Neuzil even before it was completed, promising that it would be a "place of wonders" if her children would be faithful.
Animals continue to die and the weather patterns are very strange. I'm really wondering if HAARP has anything to do with it. If we are to be causing much of our own demise at this time in history, it makes sense to me that the deaths of the animals, the earthquakes, etc are being caused by the HAARP. It wouldn't surprise me if the devil and the friends would stop the news from spreading, he would not want folks thinking. They can do this. There is a hot story at the minute, the tabloid Newspapers (the soft porn rags0 are being taken to court by numerous pwerful and rich people for phone tapping, yet in the Tabloid press this morning there was not a single thing about this happening. A sign that those who control the media control the people. Its the same in Italy were there Prime Minister Bertesconni has been taken to court so often he almost sleeps there, yet not a mention in the Italian Press, a press he himself owns...
Scary I see the most recent story is buffalo. No animal appears to be immune. What a range of species. My husband and his friend noticed that the Robins did not fly sound from the area where he teaches and they pick upon the ground with the starlings. We don't see that here (an hour south of where he teaches) so its an odd thing all by itself.
