If you haven't seen this interview with Jim Caviezel about making "the Passion of the Christ", take a few minutes to see this amazing story of what happened to him during filming . If you can't watch the whole 40 minutes ,at least watch the last 6 minutes,from the 33:30 mark on, you won't regret it.
The Passion has been everywhere for me this past week. I watched this movie again over the weekend. I know many can't stand to watch it but it means a lot to me and I don't want to shield my eyes from the brutality of what truly occurred to Our Lord that terrible day. It is almost like conditioning in a way because we may have to see Him on the cross ourselves some day as Carmel333 shared in a post on here awhile back. Any way I was watching this over the weekend when I had time and finished it up Monday night. Last night before going to bed I turned the pages of the bible randomly (I sleep with it always open on the nightstand next to me) to a new page and of course I opened right to Luke chapter 23 and of course read it and prayed to our suffering Lord. When thinking about the passion and his suffering and blood shed it sort of dawned on me yesterday that when we pray to Jesus to help carry His cross like Simeon did, or help bring Him some relief as Veronica did, that we too can help Him during His passion by our own prayers or offerings today. Time is linear to us but not to Jesus. When Jesus died for us or rather when Jesus said Thy Will be Done in the garden, He took on all sin; past, present and future. There is no time for God. It is constant. Man has made it linear for us to understand. When we pray now and ask to help Jesus in His passion, I believe our prayers truly help Him, comfort Him and bring Him some relief in that horrible moment. Even though it is 2000 years later for us it is all the same for Jesus. Does this concept make sense? It really does for me and when I pray the chaplet now I put myself into that horrific day with Jesus and offer to help Him with His suffering in return to alleviate the suffering of another soul in the World and in Purgatory.
Is he ever! You want to replay the last six minutes over. Jim went into such detail in the video here of the spiritual consequence from being hit. I think it was Coast to Coast A.M., nationwide late night talk radio a couple of nights ago, the guest host said there is something compelling about Jim Caviezel's acting. Recall, about the lightning strike, from the Wall Street Journal - 3/18/04 Interview with Peggy Noonan ~ "Miraculous things have happened. When I was hit by lightning [during the filming of the crucifixion scene], IT WAS THE ONE DAY I DIDN'T HAVE COMMUNION We always had mass and I always received communion but ON THAT ONE DAY the priest ran out of hosts. I was up there on the cross and I WAS HIT and we knew I was going to be hit, we could see it coming. And the eyes of the men below me turned glossy. Everything was pink, fire coming from both sides of my head."
