Is God punishing the USA?

    Suicide

2280 Everyone is responsible for his life before God who has given it to him. It is God who remains the sovereign Master of life. We are obliged to accept life gratefully and preserve it for his honor and the salvation of our souls. We are stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted to us. It is not ours to dispose of.

2281 Suicide contradicts the natural inclination of the human being to preserve and perpetuate his life. It is gravely contrary to the just love of self. It likewise offends love of neighbor because it unjustly breaks the ties of solidarity with family, nation, and other human societies to which we continue to have obligations. Suicide is contrary to love for the living God.

2282 If suicide is committed with the intention of setting an example, especially to the young, it also takes on the gravity of scandal. Voluntary co-operation in suicide is contrary to the moral law.

Grave psychological disturbances, anguish, or grave fear of hardship, suffering, or torture can diminish the responsibility of the one committing suicide.

2283 We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives.

We hope and pray for the best - and prepare for the worst...

There's even similar yet bigger problems going down in most of the other nations of the world. Poverty, Prices out of control, Inflation, Political Turmoil, and more..

IMO, I don't think there shall be anything like a 'civil war' per se - as what occurred with North vs South

Rather, there's already an upsurge in 'gang'-crimes. attacking businesses, destroying vehicles.

And As we should realize.. With unemployment, poverty and crazy rising fuel and food prices,
as Drought forces some people to move, so to, HUNGER forces some people to steal.

If I could go back to 1996 me and tell myself the kind of things are going on in my country in 2022, That version of me would call 911 and have me committed to a rubber room I think.

We, the USA of 2022 owe Sodom and Gomorrah an apology.

Was the US ever consecrated to Mary? I think the US is not the only place going through chastisements, but the non-Catholic countries seem to be getting it a bit worse.

Archbishop Jose H. Gomez of Los Angeles, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, led a “Renewal of the Consecration of the United States of America to the Blessed Virgin Mary” May 1.

This consecration reaffirms the bishops’ previous consecrations of the United States to Mary. In 1792, the first bishop of the United States, Bishop John Carroll, consecrated the nation to Mary under the title Immaculate Conception, and in 1846, the bishops unanimously chose Mary under that title as the patroness of the nation.

In 1959, Cardinal Patrick O’Boyle of Washington again consecrated the United States to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This was the year when construction of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington was completed. The national shrine was elevated to minor basilica status by St. John Paul ll Oct. 12, 1990. This was renewed by the U.S. bishops Nov. 11, 2006.

Funny, if I could do that, 1996 me might have been spared time in that same room. :notworthy::D
