This lecture was given by Rabbi Yitzchak Schochet at the inaugural JLI Leadership Summit It helped me see the other side of the coin.
The Palestinians are Semites. Logically then bombing Gaza to the point of extinction is anti semitic.
I watched the video. The speaker emulates the typical Zionist position. Notice that instead of even considering criticism of Israel and Jews he claims anti-semitism and victim status. He brushes off the criticism of Jews, believing that detractors are simply jealous of their success. Zionists seemingly have no ability to self reflect on why people dislike their behavior throughout history. Even now he either can't or won't recognize why Israel is disliked. So I would suggest that anti-semitism, which is code for anti-jewish sentiment, is on the rise due to the behavior of Zionists. As well, it isn't just growing because of what is happening in Gaza. Their behavior in government, media, banking, religion, and so on is on par with their behavior throughout history. Imagine a kid getting kicked out of every school they go to and the same kid blaming every school for it.
Not all semites are jews (such as arabs), not all jews are semites (ethiopian jews, for example). and zionists can be of any race or religion such as anglo-saxon race evangelicals. I think a group of people who happen to be all 3 ;semites, jews and zionists are acting as if they're the only real entities ,by virtue of ticking all boxes. what about non-talmudic judaism religion for example? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karaite_Judaism politics are a mess genuinely anti-semitic people exist but they're, themselves, confused about WHAT they hate. of course hatred is always wrong, but sometimes it's also stupid and inconsistent
This is a very good documentary by an Israeli. From this website: https://firstrunfeatures.com/defamationdvd.html Description Intent on shaking up the ultimate ‘sacred cow’ for Jews, Israeli director Yoav Shamir embarks on a provocative – and at times irreverent – quest to answer the question, “What is anti-Semitism today?” Does it remain a dangerous and immediate threat? Or is it a scare tactic used by right-wing Zionists to discredit their critics? Speaking with an array of people from across the political spectrum (including the head of the Anti-Defamation League and its fiercest critic, author Norman Finkelstein) and traveling to places like Auschwitz (alongside Israeli school kids) and Brooklyn (to explore reports of violence against Jews), Shamir discovers the realities of anti-Semitism today. His findings are shocking, enlightening and - surprisingly - often wryly funny. What the Critics are Saying "An incredibly bold and brave film." - Filmmaker Michael Moore "Truly courageous! Yoav Shamir IS the Israeli Michael Moore." - Time Out New York "Provocative and timely, intelligent and wry." - Leslie Felperin, Variety "Profound and passionate." - Ray Bennett, Film Journal International "This is muscular, intelligent documentary filmmaking of the first order - trenchant, controversial, riveting." - Harvey S. Karten, Compuserve "Works brilliantly! Shocking, surprisingly funny... Defamation is an education!" - Jennifer Merin, About.com "A must -see for thoughtful friends and critics of Israel." - David Lamble, Bay Area Reporter "The most important Jewish movie of the year." - Akiva Gottlieb, The Jewish Journal "Alternately sweet-tempered and outrageous... will spark long arguments deep into the night among Jewish and non-Jewish viewers alike." - Andrew O’Hehir, Salon Recommended Reading Beyond Chutzpah: On the Misuse of Anti-Semitism and the Abuse of History by Norman Finkelstein Anti-Semitism: Myth and Hate from Antiquity to the Present by Marvin Perry and Frederick Schweitzer The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt The Deadliest Lies: The Israel Lobby and the Myth of Jewish Control by Abraham Foxman
