One can get depressed by all this 'gender' (people are more afraid to use the word 'sex' now than was the case back in the very 'repressed' Ireland of fifty or more years ago) propaganda, with the impression being created that most people are either fully on-board with it or deceived into accepting it. However, I had a professional reunion, at the weekend, with many of the people I qualified with many years ago. I was encouraged by the vigorous opposition to this insanity very vocally expressed by some of my more outspoken colleagues. There's a lot more sanity remaining in the world than one would perceive from the all-encompassing prevailing narrative. However, people are wary of expressing their opinions, except among those they trust.
They have bitten off more than they can chew with this gender & transgender nonsense. I have a feeling there will be real resistance from normal people.
You might be right because I am starting to hear discussion about what's being taught in schools and also as De Gaulle says more people are against it than speak up but also it is part of their tactics to make those who disagree have the illusion of being isolated in their opposition.
I deleted my post about Archbishop Eamon Martin as I got him confused with another Archbishop Diarmuid Martin - it is the latter that is a modeornist liberal of the church of nice https://www.thetablet.co.uk/news/20...tionships-apart-from-marriage#google_vignette https://www.ncronline.org/news/reti...damaged-church-synod-wont-lead-radical-change
It's good to hear that Archbishop Eamon isn't in that category. It's gone like 'The Invasion of the Body Snatchers"-it's hard to know who's on-side.
Nevertheless I am disappointed with Archbishop Eamon's weak and wriggling response here. Male and female he made them. The words of the Lord, the words of Jesus. Yes, we must have sympathy and charity for young people who get mixed up in these corrupting ideologies, but they need to be protected against the forward march of this evil.
Frankly I am disgusted by his silence and the silence of the Bishops on the SPHE program currently introduced to Junior cycle students. The only bishop who has spoken out is Bishop Phonsie Cullinane. The Bishops walk in the shoes of tge Apostles and have a grave responsibility to defend the flock especially young people in Catholic Schools. There is no excuse for silence and mealy mouthed excuses.
Today I felt a black gloom all day that I couldn't shake off. Then this evening I learned that our brave government passed a hate speech Bill and a Bill on assisted suicide. They did it with the compliance of many in opposition. Satan is laughing. I am beyond distraught. Where are our church leaders now?
Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” No matter what the civil authorities say there is but male and female. It is biological fact no matter what the state teaches. Christ is our Lord not the state. We oppose abortion and euthanasia every time we say a Hail Mary. If they put us in jail so be it - they cannot force us to believe what they believe. Viva Cristo Rey!
The new help-line message for the suicidal: "For counselling to talk you out of it, press 1; for a better, quicker suicide, press 2". We now live in a land where 2+2 can be 5, or any number you like. Given where the slippery slope has taken abortion, it is only a matter of time before dissenters are diagnosed as mentally ill and euthanised 'for their own good', with their 'implicit consent', of course. Ronald Reagan's statement that the most frightening nine words are "we're from the government and we're here to help" is becoming ever more apt.
It is depressing indeed. I don't wish to sin with my words. Jesus said we must pray for our enemies and Archbishop Eamon is our brother in Christ. Jesus also said that if we call our brother fool!, we would pay for it in hell fire! That is why I say I am disappointed. Indeed I did nothing practical myself to stop this becoming law, God have mercy upon me. But my words or actions have very little leverage or import compared to the Primate of Ireland. When it was pointed out to Archbishop Eamon that he had taken this role upon himself, he pathetically said that he was "asked to" take up this role [of Primate]. But I ask if it is any wonder? This is the same Archbishop Eamon, Primate of All Ireland who commented AFTER the 2018 abortion referendum, that he hoped any future abortions in Ireland would be "legal, safe, and rare"! He used the slogan of the "pro-choice" campaign. Unbelievable! He did later offer some kind of clarification or apology, but I have to wonder if he really believes in the pro-choice cause himself - if as the Burkes say, he really believes the words of Jesus - "male and female He created them"? I will be offering my Rosary tonight for Archbishop Eamon Martin and our Bishops, and that we have the courage to stand against evil.
The black gloom is in the air all around us. In Ireland and in the West. They are pushing hard to bring in the man of sin it seems. Sweeping all before them. Opposition is feeble from those who should fight. Jesus went through this in Gesthemane. Didn't he say to Judas " this is your time--the time of shadows". Evil is appointed it's time and the Church is in her Passion but there is a frantic pace to all this. I do believe the time they are alotted is almost over. No way around but through. It's ghastly. Utterly ghastly. But one step at a time. The US has always been secular. We have never breathed the pure Catholic air that used to be Ireland. The contrast for you having known a truly Catholic world must be unbearable. A black gloom indeed.
For what it's worth, the Euthanasia vote was only one of approval for a report, rather than legislation, according to an email I received this morning from the great people in the Life Institute. Some TD's made the point that a referendum might be necessary. At this point, I would not be hopeful of a referendum, either.
Jesus said we must love our enemies. I interpret this as meaning that we must hope, and fervently, for their ultimate salvation. That is not, it seems to me, the same as not opposing their views if we consider, in good conscience, that they're wrong. For example, He Himself didn't hesitate to take a whip to the merchants who were defiling the Temple. Neither did Saint Nicholas hold back from punching Arius.
Frankly I feel like throwing rotten eggs at Dáil Éireann. The Archbishop needs to defend the flock. He like most of the others likes to hide behind the laity and worry about the flowers and the bees etc.
I get the impression, unfortunately, that many of our bishops have misunderstood even the lessons of 'the flowers (and the birds) and the bees...'.
Today, I am a small bit proud of our country and our politicians. They have stood up to the bullying genociders of "Israel". Long may it last.
