The Church-approved Catholic prophecies of which I am aware speak of the fall of horrific Western regimes. I hope for this and the appearance of the Catholic French King who restores what's left of Europe.

The Islamic regime opposed abortion, the dead Ayatollah was their principle obstacle to having a nuclear programme, because he disapproved of mass killing on moral grounds. They also didn't have 'Pride' parades or trans shooters. Certainly, they oppressed Christians, but this only served to help it grow.

The clueless Trump is now distastefully describing the Iranians' dead leader as 'one of the most evil men in history', even as he himself vies more successfully for that title, being complicit with Genocide and prosecuting completely illegal wars treasonously for the interests of another political entity. However, the Ayatollah is the spiritual leader of all the world's Shia and this is only going to fire them up even more, within and without Iran. It is highly irresponsible language, possibly being used as a short-term distraction to the reality that Iran has caused huge amounts of damage (entirely justifiable under just about any International Law one could mention and fully permitted by Catholic Just War Theology) to US bases throughout the Middle East and to 'Israel' itself.

We might also have another huge problem. When Pope Benedict XVI was elected, I recall an Italian General saying at the time that a US deep-state person boasted to him that they would depose him. We also are aware of the deep-state (mostly FBI) persecution of traditional Catholics as 'terrorists'. Now, we have a previously quite unknown pope who is American. I have read of him described as 'the CIA pope'. I hope and pray that Pope Leo doesn't come out with a convenient alternative 'interpretation' of venerable Just War Theology.

We in Ireland have had the wonderful experience of 'liberating' ourselves from the 'misogynistic, 'patriarchal', 'authoritarian' Catholic Church in this last few decades. Look at us now.

    Look at us now indeed!
Our politicians only just missed out (by 2 solitary votes) in getting Abortion to 9 months, voted in. But they'll be back again! Our churches are closing due to lack of priests. The great apostasy is in full flight! Sunday masses are empty. We're flooded by migrants. Our grown-up children can't find homes to buy. I could go on and on and on..... We pushed-away the Hand of The Almighty. And in have rushed the demons.
There's a part of me that wants to get all this started, so the sooner it can be over with...

Any time Islamic rule topples it is a good. The Crusades were all about this and were necessary with the exception of the 4th. If we did not have the Crusades we would all be worshipping Allah today. As well, it is different with Iran because the people in general welcome this liberation. They celebrate it, just as those in Venezuela have.

Will this lead to no electricity, no water and no order. We will see, but I doubt it. Iran isn't Gaza. It won't be without its cost but it appears to be a cost the Iranians are willing to pay.

Islam and Catholicism are not equal by any metric.

It is likely that there will be a "Marshall Plan" for Iran, led by the United States, in the coming years—depending, of course, on who succeeds Khamenei.

Let's face it and it affects us all and all innocents and is terrible but the yanks Israelis and brits need to be taught an awful lesson. I am sure it will come.

Senator Tim Kaine: I'm on two committees that give me access to a lot of classified information. There was no imminent threat from Iran to the United States that warrants sending our sons and daughters into yet another war in the Middle East.

A U.S. official tells Al Jazeera that the military operation against Iran is "now expected to last weeks, not just days."

I see the Straits of Hormuz are closed. Double/ treble fuel prices. World trade frozen. Economic mayhem.

The last poll I read shows 75% of Americans oppose helping Israel to wipe out Iran.

When I read discussions like this, I’m reminded how quickly our hearts can get pulled toward judgment and certainty. I don’t pretend to understand all the geopolitical realities. What I do know — from my own life — is how much I need mercy, and how hard forgiveness is. My faith keeps bringing me back to Christ’s call to pray for enemies and to guard my own heart from hatred. So I’m trying to stay rooted there rather than in narratives that harden me. I’m praying for mercy and peace for everyone involved.

I don’t believe the initial violence was right either. At the same time, I struggle with language about nations needing to be “taught a lesson,” because in reality that lesson is paid for by innocent people — children and families — on every side. As a Christian, I’m trying to take seriously Christ’s call to resist retaliation and to guard my heart from cheering harm, even when injustice is real. I’m praying for mercy, restraint, and peace rather than escalation.

No matter how disturbed society may have become, I still believe that around 90% of people do not support child abuse, child and human trafficking, aggression, and war… As you yourself once said, God arranged things in such a way that the boomerang always comes back — and unfortunately it will here as well. The only difference is that people have learned they gain nothing from war, yet they pay the price for it…

Oil prices go up, industry goes down, prices rise, utilities will increase, real estate even more, unrest is possible. Were past times brutal? Yes. But at least kings and generals were often on the front lines with their armies. Now they watch from armchairs as innocent people are killed 10,000 km away from the center of the fighting. Honestly, they are pathetic.
