"Big Chief" Jim Wetherington sang with the Statesmen Quartet back in the ol' days, they passed him off as Native American but I believe it is said he was mostly African American and back in those days, racial tensions were high. He passed on relatively young, a heart attack that shocked everyone. He was the anchor of that group. Here is a patriotic song, it might be a bit on the corny side for some. "The Common Man", recorded in I'd say mid-to-late '60s. "Big Chief" with Elvis: Canadian Gordon Sinclair, minor hit in the USA in the 1970s, "The Americans", let's hope the spirit of this song continues: Some people like Red Skelton's "Pledge of Allegiance" song a lot.
I am old enough to remember "The Common Man." It always makes me feel weepy. Good posts. Red Skelton, too.
